Should i upgrade to the i7 2630qm or the i5 2450m

And is the stock gpu on this laptop better than the 7690m and if so by how much?

rolltide101x

i7 is a quad core and i5 isn't.

As for GPU comparison;

http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7690M.67737.0.html

Should help you.

the stock processor in that computer

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-2430M+%40+2.40GHz

the 2670qm

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-2670QM+%40+2.20GHz

If I upgrade to the 2670qm it goes to much over the budget =(

Does xoticpc charge tax on purchases btw?

rolltide101x

If you upgrade to the 2630QM(quad core lower clocked) it only goes up to $1005, $1037 if you dont pay all at once.

[QUOTE="abuabed"]I wonder when will the 7XX series be out? this year or next year?Grey_Eyed_Elf

August rumoured but certainly by the end of the year. GTX 780 was originally intended to be the GTX 680. The GTX 780 will have a 328bit bus, 3GB's VRAM with processing cores in the 1700's. The GTX 780 will be what the GTX 580 was to the GTX 480.

The GK110 (GTX 685 or 780) is speculated to have a 512-bit bus, anywhere between 2GB and 4GB VRAM and 2304 GCN/CUDA cores.

CPUs will be more powerful. Graphics will be better, everyone will have 1TB SSDs paired with 40TB HDDs. Graphics cards will have 64 GB of ram, your system will have 256GB of ram. Octocores will be pretty much standard.

All this at lower power

Legit? That is a huge advancement.

I get a heart attack everytime I first turn on a new build. But when they turn on it's a +1 to the ego. Hope you try it soon.

You're shooting a little low there. Show me where somebody could build a rig for $400 that will perform like that, let alone $300.

MonsieurX

It's used. There is a significant lowering in value of used items. Look at cars, which retain value much longer than computers. If you buy a brand new car, the instant you drive it off the lot it is worth a couple grand less.

That's still way too cheap.

Your sig makes my head hurt.

[QUOTE="C_Rule"]Build looks pretty good. As for ASRock, they are a subsidiary of ASUS, so they are not crap. Few people around here have ASRock boards and are happy with them. Do you already have the 460s?GummiRaccoon

This^

From what I've seen, ASRock is like ASUS but without all the extra bells and whistles that ASUS comes with.

The new ASRock boards actually come with more bells and whistles.

I currently have an ASRock M3A770DE board. It's a really cheap board, but I really like it. I've had zero problems and it performs like a champ.

Asrock boards are good but asus boards are faster

No, they aren't, go look at all the reviews and you can see that the current 1155 ASRock boards do much better then ASUS board. That hasn't been the case in the past, but ASRock has stepped up their game in the past year. Also, ASRock boards have PCI-E 3.0 for Ivy Bridge and I don't believe ASUS does.
