The graphics is underwhelming. It is multiplat. No release date. It is just open world Dishonored. The cut-scene no longer matter that much anymore.

Personally I think it should stay with its root, cat and mouse stealth. The open decision makes the game devoid of personality. Tons of people will just run and gun blazing instead of wowed at cleaver level design for the stealth puzzle.

Can't fix much about the cut-scenes. It is not that they failed at it, just that everyone caught on. This happens to most Japanese games, especially FF. The technology is much easier to do the same cut-scene quality nowadays, cut-scene no longer gives the game an edge over others.

You know what, I have only played 3 mgs games, but I still believe that your whole post is just wrong overall; it seems like you just do not like the change, but what do I know? What I cannot understand, is how the hell you called an open world Dishonored; I cannot understand how someone could say something so illogical.

However, what puzzles me the most is how no one has responded to this insanity

The only thing i agree with from the op is that GTA V uses a lot of the same ideas. Now, my disappointment is completely own fault because I should have no expected much; I admit that. Anyway, op, Idk why you expected things like enterable buildings and expansions. They did not even hint at any of this. I understand that you were already disappointed, but expecting so much from this version was ridiculous.

Ehhhhh. If you were to ask me, about 4 or 5 of the games you mentioned line up with what TC is saying

he's saying all of the games are the same, those i mentioned are not the same and have all new ideas

Walking Dead combines point in click mechanics with a choice focused story. Mass Effect 3 uses a choice system in its narrative, but not to the same degree, and is that not in other bioware games?. TLOU.... it did a lot of things differently but I cannot really see the new ideas that it has.

The overall story and lore have not been done in that way. Nobody actually tried to do a game where the better part of the game was just storytelling like Walking Dead managed to do.

Nobody does storytelling combined with gameplay like Bioware. The settings might not be new, but there aren't a lot of games that lets you choose if you want to be gay or not.

TLOU did something completely different, which post-apocalyptic game has tried telling such a story as that game did?

Eh, I guess my thinking goes beyond what the op is saying. All games are not the same, but its is getting harder, or rather, developers are being less ambitious at least in terms AAA games. Where you see the story in TLOU as well done and an achievement in gaming, others may say the same, but they may ask "What about the gameplay". The Walking Dead may have focused completely on storytelling, but the idea of dialogue choices affecting gameplay ( I understand this is just a small part of the choices in the game) has been demonstrated in other games. Also, you would not believe all the criticisms that those games get and the opinions that are just the opposite.

We cannot deny the consistency of certain ideas , and maybe those ideas have not evolved much to some people. But a lot of it has to do with opinions. I do strongly agree with the other games you mentioned.

Right. I mean what's the point of playing games if we cannot control the characters' own fate, if everything's predestined, why don't we just sit in a couch and watch a movie? It's all about getting involved and getting control. I hope more inspiring game can be available, instead of just a simple time-killer.

Even in games like Mario some things are set in stone to some degree. You have a variety of things to do in a level, but you have to complete it at some point. Even if you can die, you are expected to eventually overcome the challenges and beat the game, resulting in some story that unfolds as you progress no matter how small it may be

@firefox59: I've not seen Nintendo try to tell a story like Last of Us, Mass Effect, Witcher, etc. Because they don't bother to go beyond PG

The stories you mentioned are not above PG.

Let us not make illogical statements. When the last time you saw a PG movie that clearly talked about rape, murder or same sex relationships?

@cooolio: there was planning with scouting out the place with more than one person doing certain objectives. I mean this is a waste of time. GTA5 has some of the best missions in the history of video games. You may not like it but millions of others and most critics think otherwise.

Never said that I do not like it, I just do not find it to be a huge improvement. Like I said, the way you plan for missions is mostly decided by the game, that is a fact. As for the missions being some of the best in gaming history, I disagree.

@cooolio: well you're right it's your opinion but 34 million bought this game and must have felt otherwise. It wasn't the story that drove the game as much as the great heist. It was exhilarating to pull off a heist with all the planning and how to execute it with perfection. The side missions were fun and the cars drive better than most car games.

Eh. No, there was not much planning with those heist; You choose 1 option out of 2 and then you did what the game directed you to do in each heist
