I think the big problem with this strategy is money. They say money from slow sales of Alan Wake is the driving force behind moving on to a new exclusive game on the Xbox One. How does that make sense? New console = relatively small owner base in the first few years. Meanwhile 360 has 77 million sold = huge owner base. Of the Xbox One owner base how many will actually buy Quantum Break? a smaller number again. Do the simple math on this and its suicide to start a new IP "on a launch console" when your last game sold too slowly for liking. I'm more concerned Remedy may have weakened their financial footing further thereby making the sequel to Alan Wake even less likely. Grrrr!
@TechTheNoob @Ptm368 Tech companies must love you Tech The Noob! Move on son - leave your 50 game library behind and start buying an all new library. You're a regular money well for them lol.
5 pages of comparisons. Xbox One is a less powerful gaming machine because MS decided to make an entertainment system. I for 1 use my Xbox for gaming not "snapping" to free to air which I can watch on my normal TV. I'd never rent or buy the overpriced offerings on the Xbox video marketplace so how is this a benefit. I wanted a better game console and they have let the gamers down by focusing on trivial crap.
@ACLOVERLORD I'm a 360 user but if your compare the recent analysis of the two systems the PS4 is clearly the more powerful gaming machine. So if it's a cow pat you're kind of saying our coming Xbox One is something worse than that.
@duffman5032 No this is where the cynical bastards got clever. Yes you must copy the game to your HDD to play it. But you need to be online once every 24hrs to keep all the HDD stored games authenticated. If you miss a 24hr cycle you require the original disc as a key to re-authenticate the game. So never miss a 24hr online cycle or never throw away or trade your game. Sounds easy up until holiday time. Leaving your Xbox turned on while you go on holiday doesn't sound like a great idea to me. Come home and the house is burnt down.
Don Mattrick needs a haircut. By making the one unable to be backwards compatible it will slow the uptake of the new console not improve sales. Why? Because the situation this round with the 360 is more akin to the PS2 --> PS3 situation where there were 70million PS2 owners (just like there are 70 million 360 owners) meaning many titles were made not just for the new gen but the previous gen too. The 360 will get COD Ghosts, The next Forza and the next Halo 5 etc unless of course M$ have lost their minds and don't want to tap potential sales to a 70million installed user base. Yeah there is no reason to rush out for a "One".
