Why do sheep constantly belive that Nintendo are just in this industry to make games for everyone. Nintendo are the biggest money grabbing company in this industry. They will not sacrifice margin in order to gain a customer base they don't care about you sheep!!! The sheep are the hardcore gamers... nintendo has left the industry that serves you, they are not focused on what makes you happy they are focused on making a buck. I am sick to death of hearing "Sony and Microsoft misunderstood the gaming market". Sony are the very reason nintendo made the wii... they realised that they cannot compete in the current gaming environment and had to seek to create a new one.

This is the fundamental flaw in my view and how nintendo are exposed in terms of what their real motives are. They want the un-educated (gaming terms) masses to pick up the wii not the hardcore, not their fans but those without an initiation into gaming. They will also charge them top dollar... yes wii is the cheapest but i also guarantee has the highest margin by percentage by a long way, not to mention its AU100 to get an extra control. Nintendo have failed to dominate a hardware generation for a long time now and still do not dominate this one. So sheep enough, back your console but don't sell yourselves out for a company that doesn't care about the hardcore. They care about profits and profits only just like Micro$oft and $ony.

I have a wii. Will my grandparents buy one??

I am sick of all these "now the 360 has won?" threads. 360 hasn't even moved 10 million units. Microsoft forecast 15million by June and wrote that down in January to 12 million now that June is here they have still not reached their written down figure, not forgetting the fact that they said they would reach 10 mil before ps3 was launched. Halo 3 will move a lot of consoles but it will not move 5 million so this means that 360 forecasts are way off and the console is seriously under-performing. Ps3 has had poor sales but in its defence it has had no large first party releases, the mere announcement of games at the gamers day saw a sales spike for the console. Wii has sold like mad with no big titles either.

The Ps2 has sold 115000000 units and is still selling!... THAT is a winning number... wake me when any of the consoles reach 50 million then we might get an idea of who will win. I guarantee 360 and ps3 will struggle to hit that figure until both consoles reach the $199 price point. That is when the big hardware numbers start moving.

Any person who has been into games for the past decade will realise that there is no way you can declare a console a winner in the first couple of months of sales. If you look at ps2 as an example it has an install base of roughly 115000000. If you combine all wii's, ps3's,psp's and ds's sales figures you still do not make this number. This install base only really started to swell when the ps2 reached AU$299 at that same point xbox 299 and gc 149 yet sony still far outsold the other two.

The game has changed somewhat in this generation with wii selling fantastically well, but the sheer fact of the matter is eventually it will have to compete with 360 and ps3 at a similar price point. Both companies have a history of being prepared to sacrifice alot of money to move hardware and the fact that they can always be bolstered by their diversified business interests mean that this is quite feasible. So my belief is that soon Sony will come down to something similar to the 360 price point... my guess is spring 08. Microsoft will then have to drop their price (lemmings don't whine). Leaving the wii to follow suit..

So 4-5 years down the track what does that mean well right now you can buy a gamecube for $49 in eb Australia and it still doesn't sell. An xbox is $109 and a ps2 $139 (all pre-owned prices) which one sells the most by a mile.............ps2? Why is that... brand name. Most people have no clue what the media says about ps3, 360 or wii. People believe that Sony is no.1 unless of-course you truly believe ppl pay attention to all that go's on in here.

115000000 ppl lets say at best all wii and 360 owners were dissatisfied ex ps2 people... that leaves around 100000000 ppl still not upgraded hmmm maybe just maybe we shouldn't write Sony off.

[QUOTE="dblin"][QUOTE="coreygames"]You can't really compare crap to the masterpiece like Metroid Prime just because you aren't tossing grenades and sniping headshots from 8 miles away. You can't say there was no action either cosidering enemies are practically in every room and become more powerful as you complete more objectives and become more powerful. Still yet, it isn't an FPS (First Person Shooter). If you want that from Metroid, play Hunters; that game is very much an FPS with adventure elements. This is why I love the Metroid games, they are basically the closest thing to a perfect game because it allows for freedom to roam around, a unique story and (as far as prime is conserned) a unique way to represent it, amazingly fun and somewhat difficult boss battles, multipul endings based on preformance, and it is overall very fun. I think that, in my opinion, that you could only be bored with the series if you have either an extreme case of ADHD or a preconcieved idea of how the game is going to be "bad".coreygames

You didn't read my post at the start obviously. On another note I am sick of people calling every second nintendo game a masterpiece. I am sorry to say that metroid is not a masterpiece not even close. If you had fun with the game then thats great but because you like it does not make it a masterpiece. "Enemies are practically in every room!!!!!!" wow what a masterpiece!!!!/sarcasm

Not a masterpiece? I'm sorry, does GOTY not qualify for that? Or being considered the prime example of how to move a game from 2D to 3D not count either. Maybe you should get over yourself and realize that although you may not have enjoyed this game because you THOGHT it was an FPS, and was very, very wrong, doesn't make it a bad game. And that comment about enemies in every room was to off-set your boring statement, because that is all that FPS's do, except this game is an adventure game.

No GOTY definately does not... if nothing but terrible games are released one will still win GOTY. In regards to you saying it is an adventure game, the adventure title was dropped a long time ago because most games these days have adventure elements to them. I believe that if you asked 100 ppl what genre meroid prime was 99 would say fps and the one fanboy would say "no its an adventure game!!!!" If you carry your logic to other games the adventure genre library would be ridiculously huge!!

Let me get this straight.  The game was so boring that you completed it?karicha9

Ofcourse, I am not going make only an assumption that a games is boring... if I posted that I only played it for 20mins everyone would be saying how I should have finished it. You point is valid, but I feel that people cheat themselves when they don't finish games. Echoes I didn't purchase because I would have to sit through the same thing and I feel Metroid 3 will also be the same.

Instead you were like, boo, reading. What, I have to investigate? Thinking is hard. :(

goblaa

Umm ok lets not bring the personal accusations here, instead qualify your argument with examples of how metroid requires more intelligence than other games. I mean lets not try to argue that metroid is plot heavy, incredibly taxing piece of gaming. I finished the game but man it was so hard to figure out to turn into a ball to get through the circular hole!!! /sarcasm

It is funny how people so aggressively defend it, I had metroid on the NES ando thought it was awesome. I just feel that Metroid Prime was indicaive of a lot of mistakes nintendo made with the GC, I don't think that metroid transfered well to an fps... the level design was clever but just left me with can't be bothered attitude. To alleviate all the flaming accusations I own a wii and can't wait for ssbb and galaxy both of those seem to be really aiming at what was needed... ssbm needed no changes... galaxy needed to distance itself from sunshine. Metroid on wii just feels like a real re-hash of stuff we've seen before.

Have to say that playing through metroid prime on the gamecube was one of the biggest chores I have ever had to go through... so much pointless backtracking and uninspiring battles. IMHO it does not hold a candle to Halo, Half Life, Resistance, Gears or most FPS's. Sheep talk about nintendo innovating then lets see how much they change the metroid formula aside from the controls.
