[QUOTE="tagyhag"]I don't think it's going to flop, however I think it will still come in 2nd place like the PSP before it.tagyhag

nahh.. the 3DS is doing pretty bad compared to the DS. the change is not that drastic, and so people are better off with a DS (those who are not crazy about 3D).

the NGP though, will have new features from the PSP. main being the touchscreen and the second analog stick, which are a bigger deal than 3D. then there's a trackpad and gyroscope.

The casual crowd will not switch from the DS to the NGP. They only have one way to go and that's the 3DS.

Nah, more of them will move to the iphone or ipod touch. The DS has been mostly a kid machine and I don't see parents running out to buy a $250 portable console for better graphics.

There is no way the NGP will be a big seller out of the gate. The PS3 had a high pricetag but you could at least use it as a Blu-ray player. The NGP will have to be sold on games alone. I don't think graphics matter as much for portable consoles so this could really go bad if they don't get enough developer support.

its targeting $200 laptops with its fusion line, the article mentions llano since its part of the fusion line but likely you'll the low end fusion in those $200-300 systems, lenovo is releasing an entry level one with Llano under $400, so it could be $399... but that price point is a pipe dream for Llano and i think he didn't expect people to readsavagetwinkie

I actually found another article on it:
The chips, code-named Llano, are targeted at mainstream laptops and desktops, which will be priced starting at US$499.

It's going to have a hard time competing with existing systems, including the PSP. I just don't think graphics matter that much for portable gaming. The iphone has good enough graphics so I don't see gamers rushing to buy an NGP.

They should have cut the tech down a bit and kept it under $200.

So after finally getting the 3DS (only a month later than intended!), and fiddling around with AR Games, Face Raiders, 3DS Sound, 3DS Camera, Mii Plaza et al, I have to hand it to Nintendo- this must probably be the best system they have ever created.

Another true believer. It's interesting that the vast majority of the "haters" have only ever experienced the 3DS via an in-store demo which, admittedly, isn't the best presentation. However, once people get one home in their hands and spend some quality time with it, they realize just what a marvel it really is.

You make it sound like Mario comes out of the 3DS and has mushroom tea with you.

The store demo shows the 3D and most people are not impressed. The fact that Japan isn't interested is a bad sign. The PSP offers a better value since most of the games are now $10-20 and the DS is better for kids since it doesn't require them to sit still. I wanted to like the 3DS but if you don't like the 3D then all you get is an upgraded DSi.

Co Sign this a million times!!!!

Eh, not really. The 3DS blows the PSP away in terms of hardware and software features.

Software features? Like what, taking silly pictures of yourself? Because it certainly doesn't win on software as in games.

I hate the 3DS. The graphics aren't much of an improvement and the battery life sucks. I'd rather play on the PSP.

Bioware doesn't care about making RPGs anymore. I pointed this out years ago but most of you have heart shaped Bioware glasses that you refuse to take off. Dragon Age was generic garbage and Mass Effect was a soulless Star Wars rip off.

No, standard formats increase the risk of piracy. Blu-ray players are cheap enough for anyone who can afford an HDTV.

More power isn't a gimmick, it's a feature. A gimmick is a trick to lure buyers that later loses its appeal. HD graphics have not lost their appeal, no one wants to go back to to SD. That robot thing is a freaking gimmick. The AVGN show on it was hilarious.
