Well I can't judge Crysis 2, but honestly? Wow. BLOPs had run of the mill war settings and a mediocre plot, yes it's reliant on the multiplayer, but the power fantasy singleplayer is what holds it up - it's its personality and tone (no matter how bland it is) that appeals to the market.skrat_01
Various cold war settings in multiple time periods are not run of the mill. NYC as a setting is entirely run of the mill.

I'm not even a fan of COD but I would much rather play Black OPS than a bland alien shooter in the most overused city.

[QUOTE="skrat_01"]Many PC gamers were disenfranchised by it. I haven't bough it, still.

It would have sold better on all systems if they bothered to add a story and some interesting characters. Crytek is good at graphics but not much else.

I strongly disagree. Has Call of Duty ever had a decent story, plot or characters? In all the cardboard cutouts and setpieces, never. Same goes for most shooters.

Perhaps you mean personality? That makes more sense.

Crytek they have proven they can develop impressive games, Crysis 2 isn't a bad game, it's clearly one that doesn't focus nearly well enough on an audience to appeal to it.

COD is bought for the multiplayer and yes Black OPs has a much better setting and story than Crysis 2. Crytek picked one of the most overused settings (NYC) and tossed in a bunch of aliens. It should have been called NY Alien Hunt 5000.

[QUOTE="nintendog66"]Crysis is a PC franchise. Consolites outside of System Wars didn't know the game was even coming out on consoles or didn't know about the game, period. Regular Joe only knows about Halo and Call of duty, everything else is crappy.skrat_01

That doesn't make any sense when the 360 version out sold the PC.

No, push back the rehashed garbage and let Rage come out on time.Inconsistancy
Right because running around and shooting stuff is completely original. Rage is looking like Doom 3, a pretty face but shallow personality.

I like the characters and settings in gears. Unchartered looks like it is introducing some interesting gameplay elements but for me conventional weapons and characters = ZzzZzzZZz.

Too bad for Resistance 3 it comes out the same time as Rage.

Vari3ty

Too many shooters are coming out at the same time. I think they should push the date back for rage, releasing at the same time as resistance 3 and geow3 is not a good idea.

Not convinced, the weapons look way overpowered. Boomerangs that kill with one hit and almost always find their targets? Gameplay looks a bit repetitive too.

There's absolutely no need for jumping in a cover based shooter, you can use the cover system to vault over cover, if you could jump, the only thing you would be able to do is jump like a few inches (because of the armor)at most in the air for no reason.

StealthMonkey4
I never understood why so many shooters have soldiers with a 3' vertical leap. As if soldiers engage each other in war by shooting at each other while jumping over ledges like Mario.
