Agreed, I used to play on pc at a desk but these days I prefer the couch. I could put an htpc the living room but they don't integrate as well and I'd still have to keep a console for exclusives and local coop. Last gen I played almost entirely at a desk when pc graphics were so much better than the ps2 but these days.....meh. Not enough of an improvement for me to care.
If Ninty does put out a new console next year that is on par or slightly more powerful than ps360, all that'll happen is Ninty will start getting ports of ps360 multiplats. MAYBE some of the first party offerings will look better, but Ninty's first party is more about artistic st y le than it is flashy graphics anyway.ianuilliam
I doubt it will be only slightly more powerful. Hardware is cheap these days.
If Nintendo inspires MS to release their next xbox earlier that could result in a split market of xbox360/ps3/pc and xbox720/NinHD/pc.
Exactly my point, it would just be a waste for them to release a new console when the ps3 is still so capable and finally at a lower price point Sony could end up with the upper hand actually.[QUOTE="dc337"]
I don't think that it would.
A new Xbox console would still have to compete with a $200 PS3 and continued exclusives.
I believe graphics have reached "good enough" for most gamers. It isn't like previous gens. Sony could keep selling the PS3 as a home entertainment system.momentum_god
Devs could decide to stick with the ps3 and MS would be forced to burn cash for a handful of exclusives. How long would those exclusives take to develop?
I'm just not seeing demand in the real world for new HD consoles. It isn't like the PS2 which was really looking long in the tooth and games like GTAIII were a little choppy in some areas. No one plays GTAIV on the PS3 and wishes that the characters were photorealistic.

Based on rumors Nintendo will likely release an HD console next year which will eclipse the 360 and PS3 in terms of graphics.
Many of you want a new gen of consoles for better graphics but let's take a look at the downsides:
Longer development cycle. With every new gen the development cycle takes even longer. Staying with current consoles means games come out faster since the tech has been mastered. Do we really want to wait 6 years for L.A. Noire 2?
Higher prices. What if new games end up being $65? Or even $70? Expect higher network fees as well.
More restrictions. We could see some new implentations to restrict used game sales.
Sony. Who knows what they will come up with next.
Dimminishing differences. In all likelyhood most games won't look that different. It will be just a handful that really push the systems. Many genres like fighting, jrpgs and sports don't require new systems. It's mainly the shooter crowd that wants better graphics.
Split market. New consoles could end up splitting the market. Just because a new system has better graphics does not mean that developers will follow. PS2/Xbox is a good example.
[QUOTE="dc337"]No I don't actually. Black OPs was one of the top pc games last year, just because someone likes action games does not make them a console gamer. Sure, only in this case the person in question isnĀ“t a PC gamer at all,and the point of this thread was to bash the PC...but that went completely the wrong way for the TC. No surprise that It went the wrong way because he is obviously terrible at trolling the pc if I thought he was a pc gamer. I don't pay much attention to names here, I just assumed he was a pc gamer who preferred action games.[QUOTE="Arach666"] Surely you donĀ“t know the TC then, such are the anti PC threads he usually makes.

Where did he claim is not a PC gamer? I don't buy the idea that the PC is some hardcore playground. Have a look at the PC section at your local retail store. It's mostly mommy and kiddie stuff these days. Surely you donĀ“t know the TC then, such are the anti PC threads he usually makes. No I don't actually. [QUOTE="Xtasy26"]But he is not a PC gamer. Didn't you read? It's way too "COMPLEX" and "HARDCORE" for him. ;)

360 exclusives made more sense when the PS3 had a low install base. But yes I think MS should get tougher with pirates, brick their systems if pirated software is detected.no wonder devs are not making excusive games for xbox360
we all know what has happened to PC due to piracy, is the same thing going on now with xbox360?
what you guys think?

The latest update is going to cause problems for pirates since upcoming games will have a new disc format.
But 360 piracy isn't close to being as bad as the pc so I wouldn't worry about it.
