I wonder how they turned their brand image around like that. I remember Japan really disliking the iPhone in its first few years

Im pretty sure thats a quoted comment from the website. Thats not his words although he may be believing that too. They appear to be his words as the link provided by mac did not contain that comment. My entire OP was quoted from the website for readers convenience, just to clear up any confusion.[QUOTE="mystic_knight"][QUOTE="Gambler_3"]So apparently this thread provides numbers that prove how much better iOS is compared to android. Ya right this thread is totally not trying to start anything.

PSP and DS aren't mobile gaming now?red12355
Nintendo 3DS and Vita are actually faring worse than last years fiscal quarter with the DS and PSP. Considering that iOS accounts for 84% of the blue pie; iOS does indeed still rake in majority revenues across all platforms. 3DS and Vita included.
Pretty incredible.
According to the report, the number of US mobile gamers has gone from 75 million to 101 million, with 69% playing on smartphones and 21% on tablets. The biggest segment of growth, though, is in the segment of paying gamers. They report that the number of paying players has grown to 37 million US mobile gamers, which is 36% of all mobile gamers. That?s a lot of paying customers.
This data has been taken from VentureBeat.
Bottom line, this new report points to the fact that while Android has made headway quickly, especially with Amazon?s new tablet, Apple still rules the roost with mobile gamers, and paying mobile gamers at that. It?s satisfying to read this hard data and know that our own opinion of how much better the iOS hardware and app ecosystem is, at least for now, is backed up with numbers.

Apple takes a WHOPPING 73% of all smartphone profits in the industry, with the Samsung being the closest competitor at 26% profit-share. It's interesting to note that the Android phone that came generating profits the closest to Apple's was the one that was accused of looking and feeling very similar to the iPhone, while the rest of the Android devices have pretty much just remained steady.
It's pretty amazing. Even more unbelievable is that Apple only has around 200 mobile operators, while there are still well over 250 operators who still have yet to carry the iPhone.

It's crazy seeing how the beginning of Nokia's downfall coincided with the original iPhone release, and are now struggling to turn a profit in the industry. It's almost sad to see Sony, RIMM, LG and HTC getting squished by Samsung and Apple, seeing that they are having extreme difficulty turning a healthy profit.
Aside from the mobile sector, Apple has even impacted mobile gaming. Sony is scheduled to post an annual loss of over 6 billion dollars this year due to lackluster sales of the Vita and its games.
RIM
[quote="theage"]A stunt by BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) designed to make fun of Apple has backfired on the ailing company, say commentators. RIM today owned up to being responsible for an extended protest outside Apple's Sydney CBD store last week after online sleuths traced the source of the publicity stunt.Apple's success has grown so large and all-encompassing that it's being targeted by competitors in very direct ways. By RIM of all companies... *shakes head*...
Even Samsung has been taking potshots at not just Apple as a company, but its customers as well. It really doesn't bother me, as I do believe in corporate Karma. Does anyone remember the old mud-slinging campaigns Sony threw at Sega, and then Nintendo? What's Sony now? A scheduled 6 billion-dollar loss in annual profit, irrelevant, and quickly fading into obscurity while Nintendo reaped most of the past half decades profits in home-consoles. Remember how much crap RIMM spewed about how the iPhone was a "gimmick," touchscreens were a "gimmick," it's a "fad that will die" when it first came out? Where's Blackberry now? Funnier, is that they haven't learned their lesson and still feels like Apple did something inherently "wrong" Remember how Microsoft's Steve Ballmer literally scoffed, spit and laughed at the iPhone and the subsequent iPad release? Five years later, with tail between legs, they've tediously labored on imitations that have 1/20th of the market The companies that spend the most time trash-talking while imitating ends up being the companies that have no time being praised while innovating. It just goes to show Apple is really doing something right. From my T-Mobile sidekick, to my sprint blackberry and through my motorola droid and finally landing on an iPhone two years back, it's safe for me to say that the iPhone and iOS deserves all the credit they recieve. The first touch screen smartphone I used and loved was the sony ericsson P900. It was a huge jump multimedia wise with that huge screen, 2.9" screen was an OMG THIS IS AWESOME kinda thing in 2004.
It is undeniable how influential the iphone has been but I feel people give it too much credit, maybe they werent following the smartphone scene before the iphone. Apple didnt invent the touchscreen or the concept, their biggest achievement is making an OS that felt right at home on a touchscreen which they were the first to do so.
Gambler_3
Gambler, why don't you take after some of your ex-android colleagues and jump ship? You should have already seen some recognizable Android users in here that have moved on over and now own an iPhone. They were able to own an Android and subjectively try an iPhone and stayed for obvious reasons. (iOS is better than Android)[QUOTE="Kid-Atari"][QUOTE="Gambler_3"]Says the guy who makes a thread discussing iphone's dominance over android and then cant take it when the post is critiqued.

You are absolutely golden. You have actually gone past the stage of attacking android at every step and instead now just say you should switch since just because. You cite "recognizable" android users (I've yet to see any), you list no reasons. In fact, your only argument is "iOS is better than Android"
Even better, when fronted with the fact that 4S demand has objectively slown to a more reasonable but still insane rate, you simply attack those who remind it. Is it so ****ing necessary to be so pathetically blind that you have to mindlessly defend your platform? Grow up, the lot of you.

... let's not forget my roots were with Motorola before hopping on the 3GS (with an upgrade over x-mas to the 4S). Blindness is attributed to those who's never owned both OS's. I'm far from blind. Believe me, I "see much clearer" than you. Just ask any of the people I listed. They'll say the same exact thing.
as far as 4S sales slowing down, did you stop to consider that may is around the corner? have you learned anything in the past four years? With a new iPhone just two to three months around the corner, this is all business-as-usual. With Apple being consistent with annual refreshes, what makes you think people haven't been holding off for the anticipated new version? How much more did the 4S sell in one month compared to the 4? How much more did the 4 sell compared to the 3GS? How much more did he 3GS sell compared to the 3G?
Like I said...... You're in for a rude awakening when the new iPhone comes out in the summer.
