So if I'm done the story mode of a game, and feel like messing around in the single player, I sometimes make up my own stories...in my head.
For example, in spiderman2, I would often swing around NYC and 'pretend' things were happening. I would fight NPCs, skydive, and do other things, but I would always add my own personal context to what I did. I would maybe mimic the story from a spiderman episode I had watched earlier or something, I don't know. Maybe it's not spiderman at all.
It's kind of an evolution of when you were 7 and you would grab your toys and make them fight each other, or something.
GTA is another good example. After the stories in single player are tapped out, I would kind of make my own mobster story as I freeroamed around the city. Holding hostages, fighting off coppers, doing stunts, and I would be formulating a kind of story as I go. I would completely rearrange the character's personality as I go, and again, pretend everything I was doing had a story-related context, a story which I had conjured in my mind.
You may call it stupid, but I call it imagination, and I think it's fun.
Anyone else do this?
Other games that come to mind include Fable, the Sands of Time, KotOR.
On a final note, I'm not some 30 year old shmut living in my mom's basement with no job eating pizza and gaming all day. I'm a high school kid with maybe a bit too much free time.
