@ManatuBeard @dman123_1 touchpad??? We must be talking about different products. What i'm talking about, actually scans the bar code so it knows what is in your fridge.
@caoduong2000 @dman123_1 as do I, but not everyone has that all in one place. Plus, I use to work in tech support, A lot of things I would hear just them having a casual conversation with me is having something that can do this and that all in one spot. it is really a convenience factor. TBH, I would happy with just a gaming console, but I can't say I never used the things MS Sony or Nintendo added like Netflix or Hulu. I've had Ex's that would never touch a console if it wasn't for those features.
@Nasimul @dman123_1 I won't say we are helpless, but just like how government does things, they do it by having little changes. Look at gas for example. the Standard is 3 plus dollars, year after year, it creeps up in price. What they will do is, raise it up, then at one point in time, lower it 20 cents less to think you are getting a deal, but keep it at that price point until next year. Next, you will probably see ads showing sympathy to all the people involved in the game saying they can't feed their family to get a sympathy vote. Once enough people are on board, they make their moves. People don't really notice the small changes they make so they keep adding them up until it is what they wanted.
I'm blind?? Really?? I've been said before the reveal that this is an industry move. You are totally foolish if you think MS is the sole perpetrator in this. Plus, you are the very person who is blind for thinking MS is evil and Sony is for the good guys, they are both big corporations that will do anything for the sake of business and if it is legal, do whatever for profit. There is no good guy bad guy here,. Let's not even count the things Sony have done in the past outside of the Playstation. Also you said Sony did not lie, so are you saying that they have told GS about their applied patents that will have the capability of having a unique DRM (scanning your retina in your eye or getting fingerprints. Don't they have that touch pad on their controllers?? Hmm... makes you wonder) It is on the government website. If you are fine with that, but hate what MS is doing, you are the one who is really blind.
This whole "change no gamer asked for" type of mess I keep hearing. No one here seems to understand the vision these console makers have, it was never to simply build just a gaming console, just like the girl from the AT&T commercial, they wanted more. it has always and always will be to build the ultimate entertainment system. a piece of tech that only can do one thing is obsolete. Where can you find a cell phone that are sold through carriers that only can make phone calls?? Hell, even a refrigerator nowadays have wifi ,can scan the items in your fridge and send it to you printer to printout a grocery list. You want to know how the gaming industry blew up?? Because more people got the consoles, but why more people started getting consoles? When I was young, I was a nerd for being a gamer, but since Sony put a DVD player on the PS2, those same people who joked on me are the ones who have a PS3, a 360 and use so much of the features, in turn, that got interested in gaming. Something that use to be hidden away in a nerd cave, can now be proudly shown off in the living room, where before if you were married, your wife did not ever want to see it there. THAT IS THE VISION, they are thinking big with all of these features. I mean SOny also have a bunch of social features and stuff as well, oh we will just let them slide though because MS is the bad guy, even if they catered to the gamers in every way you guys want them to, there will still be hatred.
Now as far as with this DRM type of stuff going on, I never said I agreed with it. Me personally, believe that there are other effective ways to deal with this such as better pricing, discounts on digital downloads etc etc, I also know that this doesn't affect me as much since I usually buy most of my games new, if I want it, I will usually save up what I can to get it. Although I feel things like Gamefly will get crushed now because of this, is the reason why I am indifferent about it, plus there isn't fully concrete info out there.
As you assuming I own an Iphone, you assumption has made an ass out of you as I do not own an Iphone. As a matter of fact, the only Apple products I have ever owned was an Ipod in 2006 which went out on me in 09 even after sending it to them and getting it "repaired". I have an old HTC android phone that I have rooted and flashed with a Viper3D rom, I don't even have a plan on it, I use google voice and a t-mobile hotspot to make my calls and send my messages.
Business is business, and the point is, don't be surprised if all the manufacturers and devs and pubs are sleeping in the same bed together on this and if they are not, Surely, you will see some folks (like EA) stopping giving support to certain companies. It has happened before, EA has done the same to MS before actually, EA had locked folks out from making NFL titles... hmm.. come to think of it... maybe EA could be laregly behind this.... I dunno.. Publishers and devs benefit the most out of this.
@BamaGoatt @Kyffre I guess he is asking is that activation code something you have to put in, or on the disc. That hasn't been answered fully... if true
@BamaGoatt @dman123_1 But you are without a car now until you get a new one. I can still play the game without DLC. Besides, if an engine goes out within 10 years, that's bad on you ,or bad on the automaker/mechanic.
