sorry I didnt get a chance to repost back after I tried the CHKDSK/R and the linux puppy, I got the computer to boot showing the slave drive, the CHKDSK on the slave locks up at 53% percent no matter how I run it., The slave drive will open up but anytime I try to open anything or move anything the computer locks up even when using puppy, I am going to try to put it in another computer and see if it will allow me to move things, if not I do not know what im going to do, many of the photos on the drive are very important to me since the person has passed away.. I usually back up my drives every few months but I just purchsed this drive on jan 20th and didnt think I needed a back up so soon.. thanks for all your help

I really need everyones advice on this matter since I have about 100gb of stuff on this drive.. thank you

My problem is I bought a WD 1tb drive less then a month ago, I run it as a slave on my computer just for storage. I have about 100gig of pictures and family videos on it, today I rebooted my computer and it would not start, it would get to the windows xp load screen and then just turn to a black screen, it would not boot in safe mode or boot to last known good config.. If I unhook the 1tb drive my computer will boot fine and run with no problems, anyone have any idea what could be wrong with the drive and what I could do to get the data off it if I have to rma it back to WD?

Thank you for your help
