He did not have to frame his criticism in that context in order for his view of one game to be a valid opinion about said game. By the same token, not framing his opinion about one game in the context does not make him an idiot.

Your comparison makes no sense. This is a racing game, not a DLC for an RPG. A more appropriate comparison would be if you bought some equipment with real money only to realize that you need to level up your characters AND to grind and mine the virtual money in order to buy the equipment. Lame.
