Again, "sitting on shelves" in relative terms. Reports from yesterday's supply on Amazon were that the PS4's went out of stock quicker and Xbox One's were still available a few hours later.
Even assuming that MS is re-supplying a given store or a region faster, you cannot conclude that PS4 is having a supply problem compared to MS exactly because of the example I provided earlier. It could very well be that MS is shifting stocks from another store or region where it is selling slower. Who knows.
"If you are undecided and walk into a store right now there is a better chance that there's an XBox there and that's very important post launch-fever." Spot checks like this don't mean anything. At the end of the day, as far as this discussion is concerned, it's the total worldwide units sold. Sony already gave its number. Where is MS'?
"The point being Microsoft is simply playing the supply game better."
Again, see my example. If availability is higher because demand is lower, it does not mean better supply management -- rather, it means, well, lower demand. Were MS and Sony playing a better supply game back in the days when the Wii was extremely difficult to find? To this day, there are more Wii sold than Xbox 360 or PS3. If that means a poor supply game, then I'm sure MS and Sony would love to have this problem.
It's a figure of speeh to illustrate your one-sided biased view. Your view is that it's a good thing that there are Xbox One's sitting on the shelves while PS4s are not and you are convinced that it's a Sony supply problem rather than a Xbox One demand problem (relatively speaking). But reality is that you absolutely don't know at all because you do not know the rate at which Sony and MS are building their respective consoles and you do not know the demand. It could very well be that Sony is shipping out, say, 10000 PS4s a day and MS 9000 Xbox One's a day and that demand was such that all 10000 PS4s are sold in a day while 8800 Xbox One's are sold in the same period of time.
Not sure why you said "very few" if they sold 2.1M (and counting) so far. How many Xbox One did MS sold so far? They don't want to reveal any numbers so chances are it's less than 2.1M. So what's "very few" now?
I bet if the situation was reversed, you would be convinced that the Xbox One was such a hot item that it is selling as fast as MS is making them whereas demand for the PS4 was not that great so it is staying on the shelves longer.
Believe what you will. Sooner or later, we'll have the numbers.
This is pretty amazing. The gaming industry (and not only Forza nor only MS nor only Sony) is slowly conditioning gamers (especially the younger ones) to spend more than a hundred bucks for a game that basically offers the same amount of content we used to get for $50-$60.
Wonder how many uninformed people will buy this because they just look at the "9" in this review and then realize they got sucked into this little money grabbing scheme.
