This looks like it has blockbuster movie written all over it. Tom Cruise, as usual, is adding an extra serving of badass + a copious serving of attitude. All adds up to high action, impossible jet physics manoeuvers to save the world at the last minute. Buckle up, we're on a one way trip back to the 80's. Yeah baby.
I've never understood the appeal of mobile gaming. Where are all these people?
I use the tram a lot to get to & from work and I don't think I've ever seen anybody actively engaged in playing a mobile game on the go. More likely a news feed and plenty of Facebook & Instagram etc but not a full on game. I have literally never seen anyone wandering around with a switch.
@ZIMdoom: Perhaps you missed the part where I said 'original trilogy'. I didn't mention anything beyond that.
For true afficionadoes and I'm talking about those people, including myself who was there for the original screenings back when the films were first released, the films after ROTJ basically sucked.
The first 3 Star Wars movies were cinematic masterpieces. All Star Wars fans & pretty much any critic worth their salt knows this.
Love him, or hate him. George Lucas pretty much invented the blockbuster movie genre as we know it today.
When you say "He kept fiddling with them and trying to remake them how HE felt they really should have been" - well, no shit captain obvious - that's what a director does.
Also, what do you mean 'gain more control' over the franchise?, he held all the strings and pushed all the buttons. He was in absolute control. Make no mistake with that fella.
I'm pretty confident he could have retired after Star Wars, just off the back of all the industry leading technology he developed, cutting edge studios like ILM & the multi billion dollar income he generated from his marketing deal to name a few.
Yeah, sure he messed up with his vision later down the line but only after he was a billionaire 10 times over from the franchise he created. I doubt he'll lose sleep over your opinion anytime soon.
I would suggest you give George a little more respect for his accomplishments as a director and as a smart businessman.
As far as I'm concerned, this franchise is dead. It's just been butchered so much now, it's lost all of the original magic that made the original trilogy exceptional film masterpieces.
The main issue for me is getting some consistency to the movies, both in story & art direction. The original films had great continuity for the universe but all these latest movies seem to be visualised by directors with completely differing agendas. I think that's why they all feel so disjointed to me.
