@ziltoid: considering it's coming from a gamespot employee/reviewer, it's not hard to understand they have problems with complex thought.

did none of these negative naysayers actually look at what this game is before purchasing? i see so many negative pokes an jabs at it for graphics and being so boring with little to no action and/or the emptiness of this faux universe and it's planetoids. how could these idiots not have seen the last few months of gameplay, images, and articles about it? and to you: you know a lot of people out there probably don't enjoy the same types of games that you do either.

i am more inclined to believe that the majority of them have never played and are just talking trash because they have nothing better to do with their life than criticize.

@pimphand_gamer: have spent about 3 hrs exploring this first planet and am also enjoying the game and it's mechanics. those having such a negative attitude after playing probably should have actually looked at what this game was before purchasing.

@iAnej: "where did this game come from" & Shadow Warrior was "stupid, visceral, unapologetically dumb".

was also wondering, how does this person actually get a job as a game reviewer? what the hell gaming experience does she have, playing nintendo games? maybe she should just stick to posing for Gamespot ads.

@bk2fut: what's an "opinion dude"? you mean like an "opinion doody", a shit opinion?

a big problem with the way a lot of the more modern magazines and sites handle reviews and scoring is that with one review you will have a fan of a series or certain game design that will give anything resembling that a higher score. another day have a reviewer that has a problem with a certain franchise or design that gives a drastically lower score. it makes no sense; you can have someone that only enjoys point & click or simple browser games reviewing a large scale RPG or first-person shooter. then the next day have a long time isometric tactical fan review a 3rd person action game and both will more than likely have at least a slightly negative bias against the game they are reviewing.

there needs to be a standard to base all reviews for this particular media(Gamespot) that would help to relieve the bias. for example, start with 4 or 5 basic categories that are rated separately outside of the overall complete package: how well a story is presented / how well gameplay & mechanics work / how the overall graphics look and complement the scenario / how the audio & soundtrack fit and entertain / immersion and how immersed you feel into the scenario provided. rate each of these principles, average them, and have a small reviewer leniency in the end score for nostalgia, etc.

@timthegem: you may find it rewarding to just click on a bit of text over and over. but it may as well be a CDisplay comic book, except those look much better.

@VXXXJesterXXXV: as i stated, if it's just some low level interaction point & click they should actually put some development into having artwork that is something special to look at. at least good comic/graphic novel level art.

just a point & click, with cheap graphics? i'd rather read a book. first shots i saw of the graphics i just imagined this would be a wannabe Borderlands Batman game, and that really didn't sound like it would have to be bad thing. but if it's this type of simple mechanics with limited interaction, it should at least be something better to look at.

@kazeswen: Canon Lake has already been advertised as 4, 6, 8 core options with 32 PCIe lanes available. lanes, not slots, a totally different thing. though there are no Z170 boards available now that can handle it, you have to figure that you need two Haswells(20 lanes each) to reach this even if your board has an existing 40 lanes. so even if you get a Canon Lake and put it in a current Z170 you're getting the same 20(what current Z170s offer) PCIe lanes that you would with the Haswell. plus Z170 overclocks better, runs cooler, and will be constantly evolving through the next line where X99 is dead for over 13 months now.

anyway you still are just grasping at straws to explain spending so much when all you're trying to do is play at 2160p 60fps with good settings. what good is the blu-ray doing in this situation? when's the last time any game, or any software, needed a disc in the drive to play? you using it for other things does not effect the ability to play games at 4K. and how does the size of your SSD help accomplish 2160p? and if your game's engine can't process fast enough to use the extra disc speed, it's not going to help your frame rates at all so many won't benefit from a SSD over an HD. and a $80 480GB is not necessarily a "shitty SSD". you think just because you go to a place that charges more it makes the product better? and if your HD only spins at 7200rpm, maybe reaching 80-100MB/s, setting it up in RAID is not going to make it spin any faster. and i haven't "compromised" anything. i gave up on optical drives years ago and haven't missed them at all. if some dinosaur wants something on CD/DVD/BR, they get it from my cloud storage or 3.0 flash drives and can burn it themselves. plus, nothing out there outside of large resolution video processing uses over 12GBs of RAM. just because it may show your 32GB of RAM being filled doesn't mean anything out there can actually access the data fast enough to make a difference vs 16GB.

rephrase your original statement if you want to prove your point. as it stands, you are not talking about just "TRUE" gaming at 2160p 60fps, you are talking about an exorbitant luxury system. you are only talking about having some of the most expensive stuff available that mostly won't help with your gaming needs. going for 2160p right now, your ~$2850 vs the ~$1800 i posted is a huge difference in price. if over a $1000 is nothing to you, why don't you have this system already instead of coming here to fantasize and talk shit about it?
