Movie Loot

When it comes to movie loot, you just can’t beat gold bars. As I surf the web reading about how horrible the San Francisco Giants are and movie updates on John Carter Warlord of Mars, Frank Miller’s 300, and Iron Man, I have the latest version of The Italian Job on. I’m not really paying attention, but I did look up long enough to see some fine gold bars. I do love me them gold bars. Ever since Clint Eastwood and Donald Sutherland (24’s Kiefer’s sire) and Telly Savalas teamed up to empty out a bank’s gold bar vault in the WWII movie Kelly’s Heros, I’ve just always wanted one. Is there any better movie loot? Briefcase full of cash? Vatican bonds? Diamonds and pearls? please. I will however give a nice runner up nod to a trunk full of Krugerrands.

Live from the Inside

Our own Quayplay is bloging her way through the Television Press tour down in Los Angeles. Her insider's take is laced with insight and wit and darn it all to heck if it aint just plain fun to read. Please check it out, show your support, ask her questions, see if you can get her to interview some former Doogie Howser cast member tryig to make a comback, or maybe a Wayne brother, there's got to be a few of them around at any moment.

It's Getting Hot In Here

Northern california is cooking. 100 degrees in Oakland today, though I shouldn't complain, symlink was basting in about 109 in Concord. I miss San Francisco summers. Why did I move to Oakland?...for the crime of course.

On Pins and Needles

I am not ashamed to say that I am on pins and needles for Project Runway season 3. I don't like reality shows, but for some reason, this one is a kick to watch.

Moonlighting: The Movie

No, sadly, this is not in the works, as far as I know, but I would welcome it wholeheartedly. With all the 80's remakes hitting the sliver screen, (see Miami Vice) Moonlighting would be a kick to see revisited. I reserve this enthusiasm for this movie if and only if Bruce and Cybill reprise their roles. I still feel like the series never had a appropriate ending.

Flashback: Wizards & Warriors

When Wizards & Warriors came on the air in 1983, I was stoked. At 12, a tv show about wizards, warriors, might and magic, all topped off with a blond princess (or was she a evil sorceress?) in scant shiny clothes was a gift from heaven. I can barely remember the show however, as it lasted only eight episodes, but i do recall it had it's tongue firmly placed in the side of it's cheek. I'd love to catch this again on DVD.

TV FlashBack: Tales Of The Gold Monkey

Tales Of the Gold Monkey was one of the first shows to air in response to the popularity of Raiders Of The Lost Ark. As is the norm, when something that big hits, tv, and anything else (see Banana Republic's origins) capitalizes on the phenomenon. Gold Monkey wasn't the only show, Bring 'Em Back Alive was another, but it was the best- or at least I watched it more than the others. I recall visiting Universal Studio's Lot and seeing the Monkey set and lagoon. The set was built on the same spot MASH was filmed, or so they said, it certainly looked the same. Honestly, I can't even remember if this show was good or not, but it mixed Casablanca's bar, with Fantasy Island mystery, with The Black Sheep Squadren island hopping planes, with Magnum PI investigation buddy teamups, with a one-eyed dog. How could that not have been a hit? It lasted one season.

Sheep In Wolf's Clothing

Oblivion Dark Brotherhood Report (spoiler):On advice from well trusted sources, I joined the Dark Brotherhood, Oblivion's (XBOX 360) Assassins Guild. Great advice, the quests are some of the most interesting, involved and entertaining the game has to offer. Going into it, I took the stance that I wasn't joining as much as infiltrating the dark evil-doers, undercover Donnie Brasco style. After playing the game for so long as a good character, I just couldn't instantly switch to Chaotic alignment. So I joined, looking for some fun adventure, but holding in my heart the knowledge that I would turn on my new brothers, and take them out for the glory of goodness. The quests started out easy on my conscious enough: kill a mobster, a murder a drug dealer, silence an bandit, it almost seemed like I was doing the right thing. Then things got a little more...dark...fun... In a twisted version of Clue, I found myself locked in a mansion with a handful of various characters under false pretenses. In the end, I quietly take them out one by one... That didn't seem like a good deed. I was in deep, and damn if it wasn't fun. Still, I held tight to the plan that I'd see the quests through, and then, I'd turn on the Brotherhood and strike one big blow for the good guys. All the assasinations? Collateral damage in the war on terror I suppose. Seems the game is one step ahead of me. Last night, a secret order came down form the higher powers of the Assassins' Guild that I was to slaughter all my brother assassins in the safe house. which I did. But because it wasn't my choice, it wasn't as satisfying. Now I'm working for the big bad himself. Sure, I'll turn on him, but I have a feeling, he's more than he seems, he may be a mole himself.... there can be only one...

A Mage of Ages

Finished all my Mage quest's in Oblivion and find myself at a cross roads of xbox 360 identity. You see, I am loving this game, but I just know I am missing so much by playing it goody-goody. These fears were confirmed when Ryan told me to go to the darkness, there's some good fun to be had. So tonight, I think I aim to misbehave.
