The ones who are 'proud' of playing videogames, irrespective of gender, certainly aren't in the best of mental health. Bragging about being a counter-strike or Dota experts, with stats to prove it, might be good amongst people who play games. But being proud of playing games in general, is certainly not a good sign. I'm reasonably good at games, and I do brag about it but ONLY with people who also play games. In general, its juts entertainment for me. Like how most people prefer movies or TV, gaming is my primary form of entertainment.

Nope! No female around here play video games (except for Candy crush, farmville and the like). My female cousin used to play a lot of games in her teens and early 20s, but she stopped it altogether. And its not just around me, being a gaming enthusiast I'm part of several international forums and sites, and hardly, if ever, do I come across female gamers from any part of the world.

The only women who may cringe after reading this, would be female gamers who are an endangered species anyway. I'm not at all trying to imply women shouldn't play games. It would be a refreshing change. But that's just not gonna happen, not for the mainstream women at least.

8 girls? You kidding me? Jokes apart, that's probably an exception. Most women cringe at the very mention of 'video games'.

Yes, of course! That statistic only consider females who play games, and not necessarily the TYPE of games. Women often cringe at the very mention of 'video games', and most of them feel that only men who are introverts and have social anxiety play video games. Besides, their husbands/boyfriends being gamers has been one of the main reasons for women to divorce/break-up.

WHAT? 52% of gamers are male and a frigging' 48% female? I guess out of that 48%, around 40% or more would be the women who play games such as farmville, cityville etc. and only the remaining 8% play the stand-alone high end console/PC games. Or else, that particular statistic of 52% and 48% is fabricated. Female gamers are probably as rare as four leaf clovers.

Yeah right, it does seem like a Borderlands-Halo hybrid. After all, Bungie did create Halo so they would obviously want to make Halo fans believe that it is the same developer. But i somehow feel that its has more Borderlands influences than Halo.

As of now, everything about the game (screenshots, trailers, gameplay videos etc.) strongly indicate that its just a Borderlands rip-off. Not really holding out for this one, until it actually comes out and people (not critics) say good stuff about it.

Huh? You mean you're able to change your Steam user-name? Last time I checked (a year ago), it was not possible. Same goes for the region locking. Is this a country specific thing? i mean...do they only allow users of certain countries to change their user names or share their games outside their country?

I agree that Valve is an amazing game developer and also did a lot to uplift PC gaming through Steam, when consoles were attempting to flush out PC gaming. But I lost a bit of respect for Valve when they abandoned the Half-life franchise after ending the last game on a cliff-hanger. Of course, they aren't obliged to make more Half-Life games. But I think they at least owe to provide loyal Half-Life fans with a graphic novel or something to conclude Half-Life's amazing story.
