@Tsuchikage Seriously. A game, 32 GB vs. 8 and a lot of extras for less than the price of a game. And it's no good without a game. What moron thought anyone would want the basic version? You're ripping yourself off by buying it, FFS.
@tunnelrat99 @hunter8man Atlus USA is a subsidiary that only publishes and localizes, Atlus in Japan developed this game and many others. Like anything with 'Megami Tensei' in the title.
I think games should be designed from the ground up as either multiplayer or single player and developers should not try to tack on the other mode just for a bullet point on the back of the box. That's the philosophy that produced the best of either game type. (e.g. Elder Scrolls for single and the older Battlefield games for multi).
My examples are Opposing Force and Blue Shift add-ons for the original Half Life. They told the story of Black Mesa from the points of view of two other people involved, one of your enemies in the former and Gordon's security guard friend in the latter. They were both long, completely new stories that enhanced the original without copying it or devaluing its experience. Either of them could easily have been a stand-alone game.
This is the kind of expansion ("DLC" if you must) that gamers who have been around for a while grew to expect, and why most of us detest the nickel and dime mentality that this article eloquently describes.
@Truth_Hurts_U @zequex You realize the thousands of people who work at Nintendo do something all day, generate expenses and need to be paid a salary, right?
