@Alurit: He stepped down as chairman but he's still on the board and he actually increased his time at MS when Ballmer left. PR smoke and mirrors. Wall street didn't like it when they heard he might be out. If you think he has no weight to throw around in that company you're a very trusting soul.

@captbrick: If it's true they have the encrypted data the FBI can decrypt it. Encryption just slows you down, it's not impregnable.

@jdlok: I don't mean hack and slash is inherently brainless, it's just a term for a basic gameplay mechanic.

Yep. Look at the "Top Upcoming Games" here. 9 out of 10 are either hack and slash or pew pew shooters. 8 out of 10 are sequels. Unless those are the only type of games you want to play, AAA gaming is in a rut.

Some people and their knee-jerk reaction to anything mobile. Think of it this way - Use the processor and screen on the mobile device and attach it to a controller. What have you got? Pretty much a PS Vita. Quit being so myopic about mobile, it doesn't HAVE to be nothing but Candy Crush. In fact it really isn't even now, but try telling that to the anti-mobile true believers.

Steam destroyed the retail PC game market. The world didn't come to an end... In fact everything is better. It's much easier to get exponentially more games than you could ever find at a store.

@JustinGoSka: Carrying your character over to a new world isn't the same as expanding the original world. That's what single player games do.

@epiclyskyfall: Not any more, WoW might be the only one left that's strictly subscription. Buy to play games like Guild Wars 2, The Secret World, Tera, etc. (same model as Destiny) give regular content updates like I indicated.

@epiclyskyfall: I don't know if Destiny 2 is an expansion or not. It would have to be an addition to the original, not a separate game with separate servers and separate player accounts. Most MMO's give players the equivalent of Destiny's DLC for free. When they release a paid expansion it's usually got as much new content as the entire original game, which is added to the original.
