Gamestop probably lets him get away with it because it isn't that big of a deal. Really, why do people go to Gamestop and then come here and complain about it?bdhoff
I see what you're saying. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't affect me much since I know better and am impervious to this guy's deceit. However, it just pisses me off that there are people falling for this because they really don't know any better. I mean, there is a clerk, spouting lies, in a deliberate effort to sway a customer's purchase decision for no logical reason other than his own jealous fanboy motives. Gamestop employees do not get commissions on 360's so there is no reason for him to care.

So I was in Gamestop the other day just browsing through some used PS2 games, not really listening to what was going on around me. I can't say for sure how the conversation started but I know that some woman who had only come in to buy giftcards was getting a spiel from the sales clerk about how Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, and God of War are all coming out for the 360 this year. Needless to say, the awe, disgust, and rage that I felt all at once was paralyzing. I stood there for a moment and went through each one, trying to organize my thoughts. Devil May Cry - Fine, its multi platform. One for four Metal Gear Solid - Does this guy realize that Metal Gear Solid is a huge game that requires to capacity of the blue ray disc? Does this guy realize that it utilizes the cell processor in a way that cannot be duplicated by other consoles? Maybe this guy just decided to IGNORE the fact that Kojima himself has been quoted in several interviews as saying that there is no chance that Metal Gear will be on the 360. Final Fantasy - I'm pretty sure that the game is run off of the "white engine" which was built from the ground up for the PS3 and is currently incompatible with other consoles. Also, I'm sure that Final Fantasy is about a hundred times more popular in Japan that it could ever hope to be in America. And in Japan, the PS3 is the overwhelming favorite console. God of War - Now this one just threw me. Because not even the pathetic, misinformed, illogical fanboys that infect these boards would say something so blatently idiotic. The game just happened to be in front of me on the shelf and I picked it up and scanned the back cover. published by SONY. licensed by SONY. Distributed by SONY. Copyright SONY. The real sad part here is that this same clerk is probably going to condescendingly scoff at some poor mother next christmas because she wants to buy a Mario game for her kid's PS2. Now since the woman he was talking to was just looking for some gift cards and clearly had no intention of purchasing either console, it was clear to me that this was not the first time that this guy had poisoned the unsuspecting public's mind with his lies. After processing all of that I was so angry that there were only two things I could do. I could repeatedly set this guy's face on fire and put it out with a hammer until he admitted that he was full of crap. Or I could just walk out. There was no middle ground. Any attempt to have a logical or informative conversation about the subject would have been useless. If the guy cared about facts, he wouldn't have said this boloney in the first place. I decided to walk away. And I will take some satisfaction next christmas when this guy has to face all of the people that he duped when they stare at him with the burning anger of a parent who promised little johnny that he could get Metal Gear for his 360 this christmas.

For the most part, people will tell you that bigger is better, and that is generally true, however there are other factors. First of all, how big is your room and how far from the TV will you be sitting? For me, my living room is actually a "great room" above my garage and its 23' x 23' so a 26 or even 32 inch TV just won't do. I have a 60" TV in there, and I'm even thinking about getting a 70" in the next couple of years. While you might think that is awesome, it does have its drawbacks. What is particularly disappointing is when you watch something that is NOT HD. i'm in the country and my cable has to run about 350 feet from the pole before it gets to my house. This results in a significant amount of signal degradation. And since the TV is so large, the graininess is amplified. Standard definition TV looks fine on my other TV's ( I have a 32" and a 20" tube TV in other rooms). For me, now that I've had a 32" TV in a normal size room. I don't think I'll ever go smaller. But that 32" was an upgrade from a 20" so I'm sure that I would have noticed an improvement had I gone with a 27" instead. It's all relative. You have to consider, what kind of TV you have now, where it will be, how far you will sit from it, and what else you will be using it for other than PS3. It sounds like you really want the larger TV but don't want to wait long enough to save up the money and you are looking for someone on here to justify making the purchase now. You will end up regretting it though. BEcause you clearly want the larger TV. Have some patience, spend your money on something you REALLY want.

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25520244 So if current 360 owners aren't buying the Elite, and the PS3 is clearly a better value to the new console shopper, then who is going to be the 360 Elite?

Dude, how many threads are you going to start? If there are games on the PS3 that you want, then I would say YES, get it. If y ou already have a 360, then I'm sure you can find some games to keep you busy until there are more PS3 games that you want. A 1080i TV is great for the PS3. Very few games run in 1080p anyway. In fact, most that I've played run in 720p and still look awesome.

There is never any information on when a videogame console's price with drop. The reason being is that if there was infromation, people would stop buying the console now. I assume there will be a price cut sometime in the next 6 months.b11051973
The damn console is only 4 months old!! Are you saying that Sony will cut the price BEFORE the system's 1 year anniversary? That is absolutely crazy. The PS3 is priced fairly when you measure it against the competition. There are lot of potential PS3 owners out there who are just waiting for that price drop. When christmas gets closer and the price drop doesn't come, they will eventually break down and just shell out the money. The potential $100 price drop isn't going to convince many people to wait and hope for another year. Plus, in my opinion, the 80GB rumors seem true. So it is likely that Sony will keep upgrading the machine, rather than drop its price.

I would not hold my breath for a price drop. As LoneStranger says, the best estimate is sometime before X-mas 2008. The $600 price is very fair when you consider all that you are getting. A comparably equipped Xbox 360 would run you over $800. Also, based on the rumors that we've seen flying around about the 80GB PS3, I would say that it is likely that there will be NO price drop anywhere in the foreseeable future. Rather, Sony will keep upgrading the technology in the PS3 in order to offer the best possible gaming experience that $600 will buy. Kind of like how iPod's are still the same price, they just seem to have more and more capacity as time goes on.

I'll admit that the inclusion of only composite video cables seems kind of shabby. But what everyone seems to miss is that the video output on the PS3 is also backward compatible. Meaning that if you had component cables for your PS2, you can use the same cables on your PS3. That's what I did. It also made the hookup of the PS3 alot easier since I didn't have to pull out the TV. I just unplugged the PS2 and plugged in the PS3
