Yes, once diablo 3 hits stores, I will be set for a good 1-2 years' worth of gaming if it's anything like diablo 2. I'll take breaks but I'll go back.

AmazonTreeBoa

That and Guild Wars 2 are my two heavy hitters.

Both these games. It used to be MW2 back in the day, and now recently MW3 (which im almost bored of, since I got to my 2nd prestige, but I bet I'll go back to it). Dark Souls was kinda like that, but I stopped playing it when MW3 came around.

I'm not a fan of either series, they're both boring to play. AC more than Resistance. If I had to choose, I would choose resistance - the shooting in that game is more fun than the unenjoyable platforming in AC. Though, if you like history, you might like AC. Nvm, that goes to resistance as well.

If you're willing to buy used then a ton of the PS3 library is probably available for under $20 -- God of War III, for one. Even new you can get Dead Space, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed II (all 3rd-person action/adventure/horror-style games) . . . and on and on.

What genre do you want? Listing out all the PS3 games available for under $20 would take a long time.

Dead space 1 was excellent. And honestly, it still holds up to this day. The best action survival game since Resident evil 4!

which probably explains why this game never won any GOTY awards, and UC2 won countless amounts of those awards

killerband55

People were BLIND back then - and so was I. Uncharted's gameplay is just not fun - if it's b/c of the gunplay with the bullet-sponge enemies, the hand-holding platforming, or the overall linearity of the game. Why we play uncharted is for its story. Period. I think it was good that uncharted 2 won GOTY awards when it did, b/c it deserved it. But, ahead of time, I already knew it coudn't do the same thing with the same formula, because what surprised people about uncharted 2 a while back was the cinematic presentation and story. Uncharted 3 is probably the best in the series, and it's story started off very strong - but the middle part was just boring, because there was no plot (i.e.: that piece of interesting story bit) to move you forward - just the generic gameplay coated in absolutely stunning visuals. That just goes to show how UC is so reliant on plot and cinematics to keep the player hooked, not its gameplay. If you're like me, playing any UC game twice is a chore - just because the best part about the game - ie, its story - is already revealed to the player in the first play-through.

You can read my full rant here. My view might have changed somewhat, but ultimately UC is good for the face of video games - even though it doesn't move gameplay forward...at all.

MGS2: Sons of Liberty

lespaul1919

winnar.

I actually agree with this.

MGS2 is probably best stealth game I have ever played. For stealth games, when you get "caught", the feeling of excitement AND danger should arise. In MGS3 and MGS4, that sense of danger is diminished because the bullet damage that the enemies produce is very small - you feel like a bullet-sponge, and can literally run around in the open for a while and still be alive. In MGS2, the bullet damage was PERFECT - the feeling of excitement and rationing your health and bullets was finely-tuned. MGS2 also has the best, clean-cut "layout" of any game - the maps are mostly simple corriders, which puts the focus on sneaking around corners, and reduces any blind spots one usually gets when playing in sprawled-out environments of MGS3 and MGS4. MGS2 also pits you with very fast moving characters that make you feel like a slick spy - in MGS3 and 4, snake is a lot slower, and the animations are less convincing that you're playing a well-trained spy who can run past anyone without a sound. It's worth noting in MGS2, the frames per second was at a full 60, making the action seem all the more smoother compared to the other games in the series.

Being the best at CoD is like winning a penis size competition, only you're at a competition full of the world's smallest penises. Seriously, no one cares anymore. Maybe back when CoD4 was first out, sure, but MW3 is a has been way of determining gaming prowess. But congratulations I guess.

Sidenote: I could probably kick your a$$ at MW3, but I really don't care. I know I'm one of the better players out there but seriously it's just a game...I don't care to show off to anyone.

MC-Reap

As someone who has played the series since COD4, I kinda agree. It's still nice to know you can "outsmart" many people in that game...maybe I need a new game.

1. LAG

2. BAD HIT DETECTION

3. RETARDED SPAWN SYSTEM

4. POOR MAP DESIGN

5. KILL STREAKS

6. DEATH STREAKS

7. GAME PRETTY MUCH CATERS TO NOOBS

8. CAMPING F@GZWhiteStormy

Pretty much all of this, plus the fact that every year the same game gets re-released with little or no improvements, and Activision has no problem exploiting that fact. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick is also the biggest piece of garbage on the face of the earth, and I refuse to put a single cent into his pockets. Just google his name and try to find anything possitive about him. I never buy Activision products.

As a person who played all the cods since COD4, these are pretty much false facts. First off, there are ALWAYS improvements in the InfinityWard games, and it's Treyarch's games you should watch out for. Treyarch's games (WaW, BO) are the ones with the 8 bullet points (although admittedly, the last bullet point about camping holds true to all shooters, and you can't really get rid of that in popular shooters [the recent 007 game has a mode where you can't stop moving or you'll die]).

1) no lag in mw3 - especially anyone with a solid connection 2) really good hit detection, except for 3% of the time where you hit their ankle and they're like "wtf??" 3) spawn is good in all but 1 map in mw3, and that map is carbon 4) excellent map design, best i've seen in a game since...well, maybe the original halo 5) KS are aweosme! 6) death streaks i dont even notice 7) The game caters to both pros and noobs alike, although I would like to do without the 10 year olds stinking up the place.

i think its because they keep getting killed and they rage too much..

or

popularity... maybe they have some classmates at school that love MW3 and they dont get along with.. them

haitng popular stuff is a cmon in human nature...

or
if you mean this forum or the internet...seems sony fans are most apparant here.. call of duty killed the ps3 basically and is what is keeping the 360 ahead..

or

maybe some just dont really like this kind of the game..

KBFloYd

I agree with the "rage quit" suggestion - which is reflective of "not being competent" at the game, and as you learn in psychology, people who aren't competent in an activity are not motivated to be involved with it, and want nothing to do with it. I think the hate comes partially from the media (too much cod chatter, people get sick of it).

My theory is that people try to tear something down that they don't necessarily understand. Haters don't understand why ppl like cod, and so they try to tear down the image of cod (by trash-talking the game, of course) so ppl can understand the haters' point of view. I do this sometimes - I don't understand why "gamers" love uncharted when the actual "gameplay" is subpar. I just don't get it - I hate it! ;)

Last of Us isn't zombies. I don't know if anyone else is actually paying attention. Dilrod

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/11/sparse-the-last-of-us-story-details-emerge/

Yeah apparently they're humans, but they don't need to be labelled zombies in order to be considered zombies. Honestly now - insane people who are scavenging for food, ready to kill anyone in their way mindlessly - sounds a bit too familiar. Even the article mentions it being too close to resident evil. I'm glad ellen page is in it though. Great actor, and cute too. I'm not gonna hold my breath tho - naughty dog's gameplay hasn't been revolunationary lately, and have been mostly linear, with some aspects of gameplay automated for "convenience".
