Would have to me MGS2. A lot of people don't realize that, gameplay-wise, MGS2 is the best in the series. The enemy AI reacts realistically (fast, responsive, AND observant), the enemy damage is realistic as well (making getting caught the most nerve-racking experience, more-so than the rest of the series), the voice acting the best (David Hayter sounds his best here - he's not pulling off a growling kind of voice which is laughable), and it's attention to detail the best (enemies would notice wet footsteps from the rain, and bumping into a plant-in-a-pot will realistically shatter most of its leaves). Love it. The story is too convoluted though, but the dialogue is of the same calibur as the rest of the series, maybe even slightly better (which is to say, that the dialogue is still terrible).

And, I have to say that the tanker level is probably one of the most perfectly laid-out level designs I've ever seen.

Peace walker is a great game as well - a lot of content, but the stealth gameplay is too simple (AI act predictably, with only simple command scripts).

Pacman DX, Lumines Supernova, Pixeljunk monsters. These are my fav - all very arcadey, and all can be played in short bursts.

If you're looking for something more mature, Payday is great.

I would recommend both, but if you love stealth games like I do, DEHR you will have alot of fun with. I played DS when it came out, but I stopped when MW3 rolled around. I remember it being really fun - its one of those games where you REALLY want ot explore the world! The only problem is that even though it's fun during some parts, expect to have frustration and stress to go along with it.

As for DEHR, I'm having alot of fun with it - there's so many ways to play this game! You can even see it in the skill tree - the only problem with the game are its boss fights right now, where you have to go rambo (even though your char is undeveloped to be a stealth guy). You just have endure these parts - these are perfect examples of bad game design, and an odd choice on the devs' part. In fact, I was about to quit playing it when I got to the 1st boss fight - they're cheap, and they don't have life bars! You don't know if you're beating them or not. But if you endure these boss fights, you're gonna have a lot of fun. I make these boss fights sound terrible, and they ARE if you're playing a stealth guy - but I'm leaving out the great parts, which is pretty much the rest of the game. Enjoying everything from the convos (where, if you unlock it early, can persuade ppl by analyzing their personalities) to the stealth and level design (good map layout, i'm really happy with it).

In terms of fun? I would have to say (in no particular order):

World of Warcraft (PC) (although I've only played it for 2 weeks [2 trials], this is the single most fun game I've ever played. Like Greg Kasavin said - it makes you "feel sorry for people who don't play video games").

World of Goo (Wii) (surprisingly atmospheric - and addictive! great combination)

Infamous 2 (ps3) (love the lore, great gameplay - ultimately very underrated)

Goldeneye 007 (N64 - the Wii/revamped version is very good too, just thought that deserves a special mention)

Bioshock (ps3)

Modern Warfare series (Cod4, mw2, mw3 only) (ps3)

Splinter cell series (original xbox, PC) (love it more so than the MGS series, mostly because of the fact you're "playing in the dark")

And my favourite of all time is --- Super Mario 64!!! Love it to death, one of the very few games I played multiple times.

It's not 10 games, but whatever. Special mention to Demon and Dark souls - the most fun games in recent memory.

[QUOTE="mazdero"]

God of War 3. from beginning to end a spectacle to behold.

--Rob--

I agree.

+1.

To those who were disappointed with the game - maybe you were expecting too much? I had really no expectations going into the game, but the scale of that game (not so much the graphics, and even no so much the gameplay) is what makes it. Everyone will remember the game's intro for years to come, which to me, graphically speaking, was the most impressive in-game scene this gen.

My fav are:

PS3

Infamous 2

Modern Warfare 3 (yes, it is a war game, and very competitive) - or try battlefield 3, i heard it was good.

Red Dead Redemption

Lumines Supernova (on PSN - the best puzzler in a long time).

Oblivion (I heard Skyrim was good, as an alternative).

Bioshock.

Wii

Donkey kong country returns

Super mario galaxy 2

World of Goo (ANYONE who is reading this msg should try out this game - a really good puzzler, AND atmoshpheric! Was pleasantly surprised by its mood, best puzzler I've tried by far - beats the generic-looking Portal 1 and 2, Braid, and my fav, Lumines).

HD collections of PS2 games are a waste of time and money.

It's proof that developers are running out of ideas.

I've already played these games, why should I pay $40 to play them again?

GeoffZak

Everything you just said mostly caters to people like you - that is, ppl who played the game once before, and don't want to get into it again. For this jak collection, I feel the SAME way. But, for the MGS collection, I feel those games are replayable, and I'm still considering getting the collection, especially since I havent tried peaceWalker yet.

If the game gets a positive reception, I might get this on pc or ps3, depending on the release date. I would rather get this for my laptop, since I have a huge break during my classes (5 hours, to be exact). Love the fact that diablo is a huge time sink! I love those kinda games - those are the games that get you hooked and never let go!

I did the same thing - only for it to YLOD 5 months later. I now have a slim. If you're lucky, yours might last longer, but the thing I heard over and over again (and I only believed when my ps3 YLOD the 2nd time around) was that a REPAIR from SONY is only temporary, ranging from 4-6 months life span after the fix (depending on duration of use). THat's just the 60gb though, not sure if that's the same lifespan from repair for SLIM ps3's.

For now, don't worry about it, and just enjoy using your ps3. BACK UP your data EVERY OTHER day!!! That's the only advice I can give you right now until you buy a new ps3 (which is until your FAT ps3 dies, or when you decide to get a new one - or both). Backing-up data doesn't take too long, promise. You can even leave it while it backs up your data while you do something else. That way you don't have to worry about losing much progress when the time comes that you ps3 YLOD again.

A lot of top rated games out right now actually. I think it's the fact that I don't enjoy games as much as reviewers do - well, to put in bluntly, I'm not as easily impressed as other people are.

These games I don't necessarily hate, but I think are VERY overrated, ESPECIALLY when taken from a gamer-only standpoint (that is, no fanboyismm, and only taking into account great gameplay). The games are Batman arkham city, Portal 2, and perhaps skyrim (although it's not fair of me to judge skyrim yet, since I do not own at present). The prob with batman is that it really is just an open world version of asylum, AND it seems to me they just shoved villians in there even though most of them lasted on screen for less than 3 minutes. They're really just cameos instead of full fledged villians - the only consistent villians in arkham city were joker, mr freeze, and penguin. The rest were just used for replay value, and semeed like a missed opportunity to indulge in their background. Plus, arkham city is much shorter than asylum, and makes alot LESS sense (in terms of story and villains running amock) and is less meaningful to boot. Portal 2 is a bit too minimalistic for me, and if one takes its humour and excellent writing away, the game devolves into trial and error, and is somewhat too easy and in 98% of cases the puzzles only have 1 specific solution (and no other variable way of goign about things). As for skyrim, it's another oblivion. They still haven't made the combat any better - but at least they added "shouts", which i saw firsthand and I admit they're pretty cool. I would also like to add Deadspace 2 to the list - the best part of deadspace 1 (like bioshock 1) was its world. Take that away, and the tension in the gameplay and also the sense of wonder/exploration is greatly diminished - and that goes hand in hand with one's level of fun.
