cool. not that i dont play MGS4 anymore, this will add even more replay for me. cant wait, hope their next announcement is to bring back MGSO so we can play online again lol, while it wasnt too popular, i still liked it and liked the fact i had a option to play it online.JoKeR_421

Yeah, as much as I enjoyed MGO, the aiming mechanics in that game made it difficult to,,,well, aim. To this day, however, MGO has the most unique mode I've ever played (and this coming from someone who is a veteran of the mulitplayer modes of Halo 1, 2, CODMW 1, 2, and 3, and from someone who has played TF2), and that is TSNK (Team Sneak). For those of you don't know, it pits a team that has stealth suits (and yes, they are totally invisible if they don't move) against a team that doesn't. It's a such a cool mode, I love it. It's too bad that the game can be broken - there are only hardcore players left, and they play in such an unconventional way that newcomers looking for a somewhat realistic tactical shooter will surely be underwhelmed.

Whoops, I thought you said rank theme. Either way, the highest score I would give is actually a 10 (only for Going command), and the lowest score I would give is a 6.5, and from that you can get an idea for my ratings.

My list, starting from the greatest games to the most boring:

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando

Jak 3

Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Sly Cooper

Jak and Daxter

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal (only played demo, but if it's anything as good as going commando, then it's up there).

Ratchet and Clank

Jak 2

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Sly 2

Sly 3 (currently playing through)

Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty

They're all great platformers, mind you. The original jak and daxter and sly were great, b/c they kept what was most important and fun: platforming. The first ratchet, however, didn't have the same impact as its sequels, b/c it's focus was on gunplay, and it simply didn't have the control scheme or incentive to utilize the gunplay. The ratchet sequels, however, now have strafing and lock-on mechanics, not to mention you get exp points and a level up system for your guns. This is why going commando was at the top of my list: not only was it just a big departure from its sequels (b/c, in reality, so was jak1 and sly1 from their sequels), but it was a BIG improvement, ESPECAILLY in terms of fun. Leveling up guns in a 3d game hasn't ever been done in that way before, and it was pure fun just blasting enemies and only getting more powerful from doing that. Jak 2 lost its focus b/c it became a very boring GTA clone, and the same with Sly 2 and 3, b/c instead of using the ultra slick sly, you were forced to use characters that aren't as fun to play with, which DRAGS the whole experience down. Jak 3, however, picked up, b/c it found a balance between the shooting/platforming elements and the driving (it still lacks a strafing/lock-on system though, and it's not as fun as Going commando/UYA because it doesn't have that incentive to useyour guns besides being forced to [it doesn't have a gun level-up system]).

Glad you made this thread. I for one tried the first single player, beat the 2nd one, and then tried the 3rd (brotherhood), and I must say I was bored throughout. The game doesn't do anything great, nor even good. Here:

Platforming: 3/5 - it's smooth, but there will always be that lack of finer control over your movements - almost all your movements during free running are done automatically. The only thing that's not automatic is pressing forward on the left stick while free running.

Stealth: 2/5 - no cone radius, and no indication of whether (or, more specifically, where) an enemy is alert about your prescence or not. Stealth is also not encouraged since most of the time there are witnesses everywhere in the city (when you're not in the undground tunnels or inside buildings).

Action: 1/5 - never enjoyed the combat. Relies too much on action-reaction type of combat (ie, countering), rather than agression and combinations. Again, there is a disconnect between finer control, as countering is nearly automatic after you do a perfectly timed button press (you're almost forced to watch that little final-kill cutscene).

Also, the game is just BORING - the game had great appeal when it'd introduce characters that are well known (Da Vinci), but I can safely say, it leaves non-history persons in the dark. I may seem bias here, b/c I can't stand history (courses, political science), but most of characters mean nothign to me. I don't care if a king (who i don't give a rat's a$$ about) dies in the game - who the hell cares. There's no proper character development in AC games, it just seems they want to rely on history figures' namesakes rather than give them proper personalities.

And, call me paranoid, but I do believe publishers are paid to give the AC games higher marks. This was undoubtedly the case when gametrailers honored AC3 with best-of-show awards, even though there were plenty of other, more appealing games that deserved the award.

HOWEVER, one great thing about the AC games is its unique multiplayer - delved into Brotherhood's mp more than i did the sp. The simplied control scheme worked well in a highly competitive, think-on-your-feet enviroment.

cant go wrong with SLY ! Ratchet is awesome aswell Now JD...i played all of them, and lost all of them..and i can say that Jak2 is a HORRIBLE game! however J1 +j3 are good gamesRatchet_Fan8

*Agrees* totally agree man. Sometimes we can't listen to reviews - the reviewers really did buy into the hype of that one. Or were bought off? Who knows. J2 was basically a stripped down GTA

I'm surprised ppl are saying mostly jak and sly. Both have better stories than ratchet, but honestly all the ratchet games (save for the very first one) are better playing and action-packed than sly/jak, and b/c of that more fun.

If you want to have the most fun, play the ratchet games. If you want story, go with jak 2/3 (jak 1 had little to no story, mostly platforming gameplay) and the sly games. If you want a challenge, go with jak. If you want super light stealth, go with sly.

There was a thread not too long ago (I would say 3-5 months ago) where people were asked which was the better franchise between jak and ratchet, and about 80% of people picked ratchet, and I agree with them. Ratchet beats jak in terms of gun-play, weapon-upgrading, replayability, and, in my opinion, humour. Jak, as a series, has better platforming elements, but only b/c the platforming in ratchet is very light/easy, even sparse.

I've played almost all the games, except ratchet UYA/deadlocked and sly 3 (which I'm playing at the moment), and I can say for sure that ratchet is the more fun franchise - it just has better action.

Here's my rankings:

Ratchet2>ratchetACIT>ratchet1>ratchetTOD

Jak3>Jak1>jak2 (jak 1 beats jak 2 b/c jak 1 is just more adventurous and has better platforming, and b/c jak 2 was just such a bad GTA clone - sorry).

Sly 1> Sly2 >Sly 3 (so far...again, in terms of fun).

Totally agree. Even if you don't get 2+ games on the system - it's still hackable. Again, I would love to have emu's run on that thing.

dkdk999

Depends entirely on the games. Most indie titles, I wouldn't even play if I got them for free, much less purchase them with a $60 price tag.

And I stilld on't really understand the draw of this. You can already put emulators on your PC, why do you need a new console for that?

That way you can play co-op games on an emulator.

This, and it would just be more natural (and convenient). I do have a "tampered-with" wii, and it has emu's on it, and I must say it's WAY better to play in front of a TV on a couch than to play on a pc at a desk. Yeah, you can say that why don't i just connect my laptop to my tv - the thing is, I would always have to disconnect and reconnect it. It's just more convenient with a console. Playing mindcraft (that is modified to be controlled via gamepad/controller) on your couch is much more convenient than keyboard mouse (proof you can get from reviews of the 360 version). If other indie (or PC/android) games can be played from the comfort of your couch and with a better control scheme than the pc keyboard, than you got yourself a pretty big draw.

Out of the current gen, uncharted probably has the worst replayability. There are treasures to collect, but honestly the franchise relies too much on the story to pull you thru, not the gameplay. You'll realize this on your 2nd playthrough, and prolly quit within an hour b/c you already know the story. The gameplay is actually derivative, but very smooth and polished. Nate's animation are super slick and responsive - however, the platforming is nearly automated and the gun-play is unsatisfying (enemies are bullet-sponges so the guns seem super weak, and the melee is also automated). The gameplay alone is just not fun. You'll be trying to get thru with the gameplay just to see the story.

Out of the current gen, Vanquish is hands down the hardest. Try beating challenge 6. Nearly impossible.

As of all time, I don't know what my hardest game would be. Might be dark souls, cuz I have yet to finish it and it's been months since i've bought it

Pretty close to the price of a new game and a half at this point. ...so even if you only get a half dozen good games on it, not too bad of a purchaserawsavon
