Don't get me wrong, Cliffy B is a talented developer worthy of praise for his games, but for his personality? Not a chance. He asks a game that is more creative, unique, and artistically impressive then any game he will ever make to have more guns? That would completely dilute the experience of Mirror's Edge, which is all about NOT KILLING PEOPLE. I swear, some people STILL think Mirror's Edge is primarily a first-person shooter.

And in general, he's an ass. Still, I respect him more than fanboys because unlike most trolling fanboys, Cliff is a troll that can make millions off of a decent video game series.

Blackbond

YES. Sol is the epitome of badass in the figher genre. I've personally always been an Anji Mito guy myself, but in terms of being a badass, Sol takes the cake.

My list of badass badasses who are actually badasses. I'll try to use fanart images instead of official ones since I'm sure we've already seen so many of those

Travis Touchdown-No More Heroes. Proves that sunglasses and beam swords are a good factor in determining badass.

Duke Nukem-Any Duke Nukem game in general. Need I say more?

Zengar Zonbolt-Super Robot Taisen franchise. Totally obscure, but hey, does YOUR mech have a sword so big and powerful that its primary purpose is to cut battleships in half? :P

Zack-Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core. What Cloud should have been in Final Fantasy VII.

Auron-Final Fantasy X. Once again proving that guys with trenchcoats and large swords are usually (see Sephiroth below) undeniably badass.

Cole-Gears of War series. The guy who makes Gears of War awesome to play.

My list of bad badasses who are actually not that badass at all.

Sephiroth-Final Fantasy VII. Stop crying Sephy, no one gives a damn about your mom. Prime example of a character with a large sword that actually takes away from any coolness he might've had.

Marcus Fenix-Gears of War series. Sorry Marcus, but you're just the placeholder for when we actually want to play as Cole Train. In fact, I would go as far as saying that even Dom and the Carmines (either of them, take your pick) are more badass then you. Being a gruff steroid-junkie with a gun does not make you badass. It makes you a gruff steroid-junkie with a gun. At least the other steroid junkies have personality. :P

Joshua-The World Ends With You. Okay, I can sort of understand where the badass from Sephiroth and Marcus come from. This guy however, is a complete jackass and I cannot even understand why fangirls swoon over him as the most badass RPG character that ever lived. He's a liar, a manipulative bastard, and didn't even bother trying to redeem himself in the end likemost cliche JRPG villains do.

And that's all I can think of for now concerning both lists. Keep in mind I was doing this half-seriously so FF fans, please don't flame me for insulting your precious Sephiroth. :P

Definitely GTAIV. Now don't get me wrong, I own a 360 and have beaten the game, but it really didn't feel like a AAAA game. High AA-low AAA (if GS still had that system that is) material definitely, but 10/10? Not even close. It was a fun game, but it sort of felt a little dead to me by the end and I was playing more for just the gameplay then the actual story, which is a huge demerit in my opinion.

Me: "Hm, never actually bothered checking the trailer, might as well. It can't be as bad and insulting as they cl-HOLY S*** THAT WAS A TERRIBLE TRAILER" :P

But really, philosophical discussion of offense and moralistic tendencies aside, that was a terrible trailer. I can't even imagine how anyone with even half a brain could find that appealing. Oh wait, there's the adrenaline-pumped frat boys demographic, that one never fails to disappoint.

But yeah, as for offensive, I believe it is to a degree, but remember that it's a video game, a medium primarily created to entertain. And when your average casual gamer is awed by copious bloodshed and pointless glorfied violence, COD WaW is sure to be a winner in those aspects.

Male-Travis Touchdown, Helter Skelter, Destroyman, or actually any other name in No More Heroes.

Female-GLaDOS, though Samus Aran has a surprisingly catchy name if you say it out loud enough.

Mirror Edge is good, but the gun play is very..Very terrible. As is the A.I.Jamiemydearx3

If I'm not mistaken, the gun play is meant to suck. The game encourages you to NOT use guns. Why would anyone buy Mirror's Edge with the intent of playing it as a shooter? You're supposed to find creative ways to beat your opponents, and firing a gun is not very creative (unless you're going to do it Stanglehold style in slow-motion :P).

I will admit though, the AI is pretty stupid, I hope they get tougher in the later levels.

I totally agree, but at the same time, we need to meet a balance. That's why I like Mirror's Edge so much. It's not a HUGE change from what we're used to (everyone's familiar with 1st person games after all) but it does it in a much different way. I'm not going to lie, I love the two extreme sides of the spectrum. I like games to be either completely within my comfort zone and follow everything as I liked it in its precursor, such as Disgaea 1 compared to 2 and 3 or to be completely out of bounds strange, like Katamari Damacy or Killer 7 that have apparently no relation to any other game around.

That's sad really, but I guess I honestly feel sorry for anyone who can't see the sheer beauty of Mirror's Edge. Ah well, at least unlike fanboys, Cliffy B. can at least back up his point by saying, "screw you, I make decent games and I'm f***ing rich!" :P

But seriously, it's a shame that he can't see the beauty in a game that doesn't need guns (there's even an achievement/trophy for not firing a single bullet). It's not about guns and violence, it's about freedom, the expression of it, and the amazing rush you get when you perform amazing physical feats that even real-life freerunners and parkour practioners could only dream of (I realize that some of the masters can pull things off like that, but amateurs like me can only fantasize about it). That, and it's got an amazing artstyle to boot, unlike a certain game thats color pallate is restricted to grey, brown, and dark blood-red.

EDIT: It seems that quite a few people know very little about the gameplay so I'll clear something up. According to previews, you WILL BE chased, a lot. The demo was meant to be an early level with little conflict required, but from what I've heard, the police and government will be pursuing you more and more aggressively as the game progresses. Of course, that's just what I've heard from previews, who knows? It might turn out to be laughably easy.

The good thing is that 3rd party support is starting to come to the Wii now. The Wii has the biggest install base and it sells a lot of software. So it's good that the tides are starting to shift. Nintendo has done well to establish a system that can cater to 3rd parties, but now it's all a matter of those 3rd party devs taking advantage of it and releasing great games for it.

DireToad

I have been hearing that same speech for over a year now. What "tides" are shifting. What major push in third party games are coming to the Wii. In the end what the Wii lacks most is the multitude of AA/AAA multiplats that the PS3/360/PC tend to share. I have yet to see or hear much about upcoming PS3/360 multiplats also making its way to the Wii.

If its exclusives your talking about again, I heard this line last year as well and the 3rd party exclusives I have seen have been nothing to smile at. I hope Mad World is good and i think its called Demon Sword might be good as well but other that that I dont expect too much from third parties, the attention they have given seem to be mini games or niche games that don't interest me.

Look at TGS. There were more Japanese games announced for the Wii than for the 360 and PS3.

Yeah games like:
- Little Kings Story
- Monster Hunter 3
- Muramasa: The Demon Blade
- Fragile
- etc

Don't worry, I fixed your mistake for you ;).

I don't see any difference lol

Those 2 games on the list and you don't see a difference? Then I am sorry that someone like you even calls yourself a hardcore gamer when quality games are literally smashed into your face and you can't even see it.
