Silly Pirates and Middleweight Boxers

Welp, another blog post, another update of my life. Surprisingly, a lot has happened since I got back from my stay at my grandparents' house. There's movies, swimming, hot temperatures, more Pokemon gameplay, artwork, and plans for a trip to Minnesota this weekend. Well, let me get down to the nitty-gritty on these subjects, alright?

So by the time Sunday came around, I decided to hang with good ol' dad like always. We went and seen Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End in almost an empty theater surprisingly:shock:. It was nice. See people. When you want to see a blockbuster summer movie, take my advice and see it after a few weeks have passed, and THEN see the FIRST showing of the day. It's really nice;). Then at Wal-Mart, I found a section of two pack DVDs for only $8.98:shock::shock:. I was almost tempted to buy the Sideways/Thank You For Smoking 2-pack, since I thought Sideways was really great (9.5/10), but I didn't really care for the other movie too much (7/10), so I passed. I DID find a 2-pack that was worth buying, though. It was One Hour Photo (9/10 I believe), that movie where Robin Williams plays an obsessed photo developer who starts stalking an unfortunate family, and Phone Booth (9/10), the Colin Ferrell movie where he is taken hostage by a sniper on the phone in a phone booth, two superb thrillers. Too bad I passed up that deal with Sideways, because even at $8.98 it is worth it alone.

By the time the week started, the temperatures began its nasty rise, as temperatures started getting into the 90s. So, I basically started my Monday off staying inside in the air conditioning. I also started a stipple project to kick-off my "summer job." Let me tell you, drawing elderly people is harder than I'm used to:?. Oh, I'm drawing my grandparents from a picture I took of them BTW. Then my mom wanted to go swimming at this reservoir she goes to all the time for fishing, so I decided to tag along, too. We even invited along my good friend whom I haven't talked to in quite awhile. It was a fun afternoon, concluding with an evening of watching another episode of Hell's Kitchen:P.

Today, nothing really happened. The temperatures got hotter, and I stayed indoors the entire day, mostly getting on Gamespot and catching new Pokemon that become unlocked after you get a National Pokedex on Pokemon Diamond, as well as receiving yet another Pokemon via the Global Trading System. The thing I like about that is that you can basically put a Pokemon up for trade, and ask for a demand, and then at least a day later, you MIGHT receive the Pokemon you wanted IF you asked for a fair trade. The thing I DON'T like about the GTS is when you are SEEKING a person trading something away, because most everyone that I've seen tries to rip people off. It's a mess sometimes. But oh well, I'll just keep doing things my way to achieve the goal of being a Pokemon master:D....................ok now I sound like a kid, calling myself a "Pokemon master." Disregard that statement:|.

This weekend, I'm once again departing from my boring life of Internet-surfing and video gaming once again to go on a trip. Only this time, it should be more exciting. My dad decided that this weekend was the right time to go to Minnesota to see my half-brother and his new wife and kids. We're going to be going through Michigan's U.P. (Upper Peninsula to those with half a brain who don't know what "U.P." is), which is a boring ass drive because all it is is pure wilderness the whole ride. And when I say wilderness, I mean NOTHING is around except for the road and a smorgusboard of pine trees:|. Boring as hell, but it beats going through Chicago, as well as traveling on the highway, which raises the chances of us running into annoying construction activity. But it should be cool once we get to our destination, since I heard that my new step-nephew is a gamer, so I hope to do some hanging out maybe, even if he is younger than I am. I also have two step-nieces I get to meet as well, both being about the same age as I am, if not younger. Unfortunately, my dad only wants to stay for one day because of the 4th of July coming up, and he doesn't want to leave when traffic becomes insanely hellish. My dad always has to rush when he drives a long distance for some reason:roll:. But yeah, this is going to be my final blog post until maybe Monday, so once again, hope you "friends" don't miss me again. Try to get a Kleenex to wipe the tears, because I wouldn't want to be the cause of your floors getting flooded in tears and needing remodeling. HA, in my dreams:lol:.

So, I'll leave you with a couple movie reviews, and I'll be out of your hair until next week.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

*gasp* It seems like yesturday that I just watched the first sequal to this swash-buckling trilogy. And now, here comes the third one. Since the plot of this one contains spoilers that might spoil the events that take place in the second movie in the trilogy, I won't bother telling it. I will say that this movie has more exciting action and more humor (although it felt like at times it was just being overdone) than the second Pirates movie. But what comes with that are tons of subplots, which makes things confusing trying to figure out what the hell is going on at times. Those subplots are probably what contributed to the movie's long length, which clocks in at over 2 and a half hours long. Notice I said OVER. That's probably this movie's weak point, since this movie delivered on many levels. All your favorite characters, including the infamous Jack Sparrow, make a delightful return, and everyone does what they can when it comes to acting. And even if situations DO get confusing, the movie ends with a dynamic bang. Oh, and no cliffhanger like the last one, so breathe a sigh of relief right there:P. Comparing this to the other two blockbuster brutes this summer, I STILL haven't seen Spiderman 3 yet, but it beats the hell out of Shrek the Third, and makes for a satisfying movie-going experience for the whole family. An 8.5/10.

Raging Bull

Well, after watching AFI's 100 Years 100 Movies countdown, and seeing this as #4 on the countdown, I finally gave in and seen it, since I've been wanting to for a LONG time. I'm glad I did, too. This is basically a biopic about boxer Jake LaMotta and his life struggles as he pursues his boxing career. But this really isn't a full-fledged boxing movie like you'd think it is. It's mostly about LaMotta's problems with his wife and brother, and his nasty situations he gets into when he's not in the ring. And boy does the drama get intense, especially when tensions rise and LaMotta gets into a certain argument with his brother. Scorsese did a great job directing this, making it feel like an old-fashioned black and white movie. I was almost fooled a few times thinking this movie came from the 50s or something. And most of all, DeNiro's acting is top notch. I swear, if there was one actor I ran into in the street and got them pissed off, DeNiro would make me sh*t my pants. He is such a brilliant actor that it's scary. The anger he unleashes would make one wish that they were dead. What was really impressive, though, was the weight gain he puts on toward the end of the movie. He actually gained weight and became fat! I barely recognized him. I really thought that it was a different actor! I swear, such a great movie, and probably the second best boxing movie I have ever seen (right behind Million Dollar Baby). A 9.5/10.

Until Next Time, GOOD NIGHT!

Prostate Cancer: Positive or Negative?

I'M BACK BIZOTCHES:D..........*crickets start chirping* Ok, so apparently not many people care. OH WELL:D! I'm going to share some details on where the hell I've been anyways. So, on Tuesday, I went up north to my grandparents' house. On Wednesday, we took about a 3 1/2 hour trip down to Ann Arbor to this veterans hospital, can't remember the name of the place, so my grandpa could have a biopsy to check for prostate cancer. Took awhile to wait, but I made a LOT of progress on my Pokemon: Diamond game. Finally he was done, and he seemed pretty good. The doctor told him that there would be a phone call made during the next few weeks to him to say whether or not it was positive or negative. If it was negative, well, then great news. If it was positive, then it means another trip I have to make down to that hospital, as well as grief on the whole family. Just gonna have to wait and see, and keep my fingers crossed. But the rest of my stay at my grandparents' house was pretty decent I guess. There really wasn't much to do. I mostly played Pokemon: Diamond the whole time, pretty much beating the main storyline. My grandpa, being completely stubborn, wanted to move around and do his usual work around the yard, and he wanted me to help him a few times, even though the doctor said he shouldn't be active like that. I also drove my grandma to Wal-Mart once, which was about 30 minutes away from where she lived, so I got out a little bit, too. But I'm just glad I'm back to my computer and video games:P.

And Jesus, what's with all the news on this site? I leave for a few days, and Gamespot makes some major changes in their rating system. WTF? It'll take some time to get used to, but I guess it will work. It'll be a LOT easier to write user reviews I guess, as well as READING reviews, since Gamespot won't be dividing the score up into seperate game categories like tilt and graphics.

Then there's the news of Bioware creating a Sonic RPG for the DS . Now, if it was some developer that I didn't care about, I would probably keep track of it with low expectations, but this is Bioware! They create RPGs like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. Hell yes I'm hyped for this, especially if decision-making will be the key in this one like in their past games:D.

And then finally, there's the review for Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. I am actually considering buying this, even though I already have the Gamecube version. First of all, sweeter controls. Second, it's really addictive and the replayability is almost infinate. Third, it has the sidestory of Seperate Ways on it, which I have never played before. Fourth, it got a 9.1 here on Gamespot. And finally, it's only $30. Why not?

But enough of the games, let's talk movies:D. Did anyone catch the AFI 100 Years 100 Movies countdown on CBS on Wednesday? Oh I sure did:D. I love those AFI countdowns. This one, though, I was disappointed with. I mean, there are many newer movies such as Memento, American Beauty, American History X, Crash, Sling Blade, and countless others that deserved to be on the list rather than all those old movies. Sure, some of them deserve it I guess, like To Kill A Mockingbird, Citizen Kane, Godfather, Casablanca and Wizard of Oz, but WTF? E.T. the Extra Terrestrial? M*A*S*H? Tootsie? And a movie such as Titanic definately deserves to be taken off the list. But seriously, you've gotta be joking:|. I know I'm judging all these old movies that are way before my time before I even watch them, but come on. Give the new generation a chance. There are definately some cl@$$ics this new millenium besides the overated Lord of the Rings. I mean, just look at last year! But anyways, time for a couple movie scores:

The Terminator--Awesome action, outdated special effects. at the background at the end, as well as the close-ups of the Terminator's face when his red eye is showing. A 7.5/10

Amelie--Great foreign movie with a lot of great characters, and a story that has plenty of warmth with plenty of sidestories from the various characters. You might get minor confusion, though. A 9/10

Ok, I'm out. After watching that AFI list, I'm definately looking forward to renting movies now:D. I REALLY need to see Lawrence of Arabia, because I've been talking about seeing that for quite some time now. Same with Raging Bull. Until Next Time, LATA!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

........:? I mean Father's Day. Hope everyone is having a good one. I took my dad out to eat and that's about it. Nothing special. I tried to get him to go for a walk with me and take the dog with us to the park, but he said it was too hot, so we didn't do that. I also tried to convince him that we should go see Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, but since it started at 2:30, and it's a long movie, he passed because he has to go to bed early because he gets up around midnight to go to work. So, we didn't really do much together. Plus the meal we ate sucked, because we thought the buffet was going to be lunch, but it was still breakfast:roll:. And since there were so many people, there wasn't any milk left, so I had to get something else to drink. But we filled up, and went to the mall to walk it off, and I finally gave in and bought Deus Ex: Invisible War for only $3.99 at Gamestop. But that's about all. I'm sure everyone had a better Father's Day than I did. And I just got done watching a movie, but I don't feel like posting my precious movie reviews/scores, so f*ck it. Also, I may not be back on here until Sunday or so, because I have to stay with my grandparents after we take my grandfather to a clinic to get himself checked out to see how bad his prostate is. I hope that everything goes well. Hope you all don't miss me too much:roll:. Yeah, whatever. Have a great week, and Until Next Time, LATA!

Free Old-Fashioned Adventure Games!!!

(Sounds like an advertisement, doesn't it? ) Well, my first 2 days of summer have ended, and now I'm onto day 3. And what have I done the past few days? Basically nothing:|. Yup, off to a good start, isn't it:roll: ? But seriously, all I've done was get on Gamespot constantly and lurk in forums and unions all day long, which is absolutely pathetic if you ask me. But it got me to level 31, so I'm slightly happy I guess. I also made constant visits to this other site which I have used since 2002, and that site is home of the Adventure Game Studio. Now, this is a site where people can just make old-school adventure games from scratch using a special program you have to download, and they are reminiscent of the old Sierra and LucasArts adventure games released in the early 1990s. I've never actually used the program myself, but the primary reason I visit the site is to download the many incredible adventure games that are available. It may sound stupid, the idea of playing a homemade adventure game made by an amateur, but most of them are quite good, and are worth the experience. Besides, with the genre almost going extinct as less and less fully developed adventure games are released each day, there's gotta be SOME way to be able to have a reason to enjoy point and click adventures again. I have a couple personal recommendations in case those very, VERY few people that read my blog want to sink their teeth into the site.

The first one is Pleurghburg: Dark Ages.

Now, the graphics may look very simplistic (which most of these games are), but let me tell you, this is probably the best AGS game I've played. I played this sucker back in 2002, and it still brings back memories. It's pretty lengthy, and features a great detective story (it becomes slightly creepy in a few cases if I remember). Also, it apparently has multiple endings, which is sweet! Check it out. It doesn't disappoint adventure game fans.

Next is 5 Days A Stranger.

This one is actually a horror/adventure game, and a brilliant one at that. I played this one I believe in 2003, and this sucker gives you the creeps. It's not as long as the previous game I mentioned, but that's not necessarily a bad thing because this game has three sequals to enjoy after it (in order, they are 7 Days A Skeptic, Trilby's Notes, and 6 Days A Sacrifice):D. Gory, scary, and just amazing for amateur adventure games. And I recommend them all.

So, check out the site, and show some love for a genre that's becoming lost in a world revolved around graphically-enhanced first person shooters and ultra-fantasy RPGs. Trust me, it's worth it.

Well, I found out the results of my exams and what my final grades are. Overall I'm satisfied I guess. For Chemistry I'm DEFINATELY surprised at the result, because I thought I would do terrible on it, due to the fact I was really lacking in brainpower in that cl@$$ during the last few weeks. I also didn't study for it, and crammed it all in the night before. Well, I got a 96, therefore, I ended that cl@$$ with a satisfying A. Pre-Calculus was also another cl@$$ I got a good grade in, as I got an A on that exam as well. But that cl@$$ I really didn't need to worry about, since my math skills are as sharp as a Sharpie:lol:................:|ok, not too funny. Spanish and Studio Art went well, getting A's on those. Then that comes down to English. All we had to do was turn a rough draft we wrote earlier in the year into a final copy, as well as answer a couple simple opinionated essay questions, and that was it. How hard could it possibly be? Well, it wasn't the matter of how hard it was, but the factor of how LAZY I was to not revise the rough draft:|. But I figured, "Hell, I won't get a bad grade because this assignment seems easy enough:D:D:D. " Got a C-:|. Brought my final grade for that cl@$$ down to a B-. Crushed my hopes for actually getting a 4.0 GPA for once. All because I'm a moron. But overall, my report card looks alright I guess......

Now, MOVIE SCORES:

American Splendor--9.5/10

The Truman Show--8.5/10

Venus--8.5/10 (Why is this poster so damn creepy? )

Oh damn! The final Price Is Right show is coming on in a little bit! Can't miss it. Until Next Time, LATA!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

..........:|. What the hell is up with the topic title? Oh well, who cares? SCHOOL IS OUT FOR ME FINALLY!!!!!!!! Well, actually, it's not really as exciting as it was last year for some reason. Maybe it's because I have grandfather that needs transported from his house to a hospital that's about 3 hours away a few times this summer because of his prostate cancer. Or maybe it is because I started getting used to the feeling of friendship with dozens of people at school, amusing them with my little "Josh X" alter ego or my obsession with Jeff Goldblum. Or maybe it is because I am older now, and I have to look forward to getting a job. BUT, about that. I thought of a plan. You see, after my mom saw how great my artwork was when I brought it home recently, she wanted me to do more. So I thought, "Why don't I draw portraits over the summer instead of getting a crappy job?" Because then, if I have enough, then I can start showing them off in galleries or art shows, and then maybe make a little bit of moolah. I really hope I don't suddenly say "No, I don't think I really want to do that" like I did with past plans like using the Ab-lounge everyday for some exercise, but suddenly slacked off. I hate it when that happens. I think I might want to start doing that again as well, because I'm turning into a fat bastard. So, summer is here, and I've got some movies to watch. Already watched a few the past few days, but I don't feel like putting up movie reviews today, so screw it. Until Next Time, LATA!

My Beautiful Artwork (And A Hint At What I Look Like)

COUNTDOWN!!!

Regular Days--5

School Days--3

Now, instead of blabbering on and on about pointless sh*t, I'm sure you guys clicked my profile for one reason (well actually two): to see my artwork and to see what I look like. Well, without further ado, I present to you people my artwork. Enjoy (if they work):D.

This is my latest project, which is called "Alter Ego." Basically I did it because I wanted to display me and my alter ego that I mentioned before on paper, and I thought it was a clever idea. On one side, I just colored with Sharpie marker, while the other side, I used my stippling magic:P. Oh, and just in case the image didn't show up, here's the link.

This one I call "Pondering Mastermind," and this is another self-portrait I did. This was just a pure Sharpie marker stipple, and this project I completed just before my "Alter Ego" one. Oh, and linky.

This was my very first project I did this year, which was my original self-portrait before I started going crazy with my others:P. It is just a basic pencil drawing, complete with shading. Also, I used a small, handheld mirror the whole time to look at myself and I drew it at the same time. Here's the link if needed.

And, last, but most certainly not least, the pencil stipple that won me top 18 honors in the state of Michigan8)........

Hellz yeah8). F*ckin pimp right there. Ok, kidding aside, this is my baby right here. Called "The Mysterious Alpha Male," it is completely in pencil as you can see. Here is an alternative link.

Speaking of my "masterpiece," I was invited tonight down to the Board of Education building to be recognized in a meeting:D. So, even though the art festival in Kalamazoo has passed, my artwork continues to get recognized:D.

And, with no movie reviews, no more drama at school (well, almost got into a fight in English cl@$$ today, but that wasn't very important), and no dialogue sequence to piss VGK off, I guess I'll end this. Until Next Time, LATA!!!

Gordon Ramsey Gets PISSED

COUNTDOWN!!!

Regular Days--7

School Days--5

So, last night was the season premiere of my favorite reality competition, Hell's Kitchen. I was so excited when it came on. And the first episode kicked off to one hell of a start, too8). A lot more crazy people, a more pissed off Gordon Ramsey, and a lot more mayhem. That's why I like this show, because it's a lot more aggressive and in-your-face than other reality competitions shown on television. And it was also an indication that summer has officially begun...............until the temperatures fell today and it became unseasonably cold:?.  But with Hell's Kitchen dominating my Monday nights of television throughout the summer, two other reality competition shows I like are making their second season premieres this week as well: America's Got Talent (complete with David Hasselhoff8) ) and American Inventor. SHIBBY:D!!!!!!

*Gordon Ramsey appears, pissed.........and wrinkly*

"My bloody show is a helluva lot better than those donkeys' *sses are, though."

Ummmm.......ok? Not arguing with you right now. Now, can I just get on with my blo--

"My mistake for the interruption again, but I need to get one little, vital message out to a particular person before you continue: Simon Cowell, wherever your fake British *ss is, f*ck you and your pathetic singing show. You need to give up your sh*tty career and move on to better things, you understand you donkey? That is all."

Oh jeeze:?. I have a bad feeling about this............

But anyways, I got to watch yet another anticipated movie I had been waiting forever to come out on DVD. Here it is, complete with a review:

Pan's Labyrinth

Damn damn damn. What an experience to watch. Another Spanish movie that amazes the hell out of me. Just to get things straight here, this movie isn't a full-fledged fantasy movie like it appears to be on the poster, cover, or previews. In fact, it has a lot more war drama in it than you think. The story goes like this: During World War II, a little girl and her pregnant mother go to live with a Spanish captain in Spain, who is also married to the mother, but isn't the girl's real father. On the way, the girl comes into contact with a small fairy, revealing the whole truth about who she really is and gets caught up in fairy-tale like situations. Meanwhile, the captain, who is a brutal prick struggles with guerrilla warfare surrounding his quarters. And, that's all I can tell you about the story. The thing that made this movie amazing was the fact that you've got a fantasy story AND a background of war all in one movie. It's just amazing how it all comes together. The violence is shocking in a lot of cases in the movie, and is gruesome to the max. There's also a little torture thrown in the mix as well. The acting is wonderful, especially from the little girl and the captain. Also, the woman that was in the movie Y Tu Mama Tambien (And Your Mother Too) makes an appearance in this movie, putting on one hell of supporting performance once again. And then you've got some majestic creatures, which include the demon with eyes in his hands like shown in the trailers. There's not that much fantasy in the movie as I thought, but what is there makes a lasting impression for sure. But this is one of the best movies to come out last year, if not THE best. Don't miss out on this one, even if you don't like foreign films. Give it a shot. A 10/10.

Yup, great movie. Like Knocked Up was. But since barely anyone reads my blogs, guess nobody cares about the movie reviews anyways, so--

"Oh, shut up already! You always whine and cry about not having any friends, and you wonder why the hell nobody reads your bloody blogs. It's because you're a f*cking disgrace that cries over spilt milk. For bloody sakes, shut the f*ck up you baby!"

Well, at least my head doesn't always look like an exploding pimpl--

*Simon Cowell suddenly appears*

"At least his face doesn't look like a pimple that's about ready to explode."

Was just about to say that.......

"For Pete's sake, you're yelling makes you as red as a ladybug giving birth. And those wrinkles? Looks like you need an iron, and bad."

Oh snap.

"Well look who decided to show up! It's Paula Abdul's *ss-kissing b*tch! You might as well get the hell out of my sight before I f*ckin slice you with my butcher knife. Then I will really show you what it's like to be a 'cow'ell, Simon Cowell."

"Watch it. Wouldn't want your blood pressure to rise too much more, or you might have a bloody heart attack. From the looks of it, it looks like your face is about to blow."

"Shut it you metrosexual piece of sh*t! I'd like to see your worthless *ss be placed in my position as a bloody head chef, working your *ss off to get a whole slew of amatures in line and babysit them all night and day! Try it out you bastard!"

"I believe that is absolutely unnecessary. I don't need to work in such a sloppy job as that because I became educated to become a highly sophisticated music critic. Besides, the television show I'm in is a lot more successful than yours, Gordon. Perhaps you might want to reconsider your career? Other than that, stay out of my way you aggressive monster."

"You mindless moron! I'll swat you like a f*cking fly for all the garbage you keep conversing upon me!"

*Jeff Goldblum randomly appears*

"Um, is this my cue like always?"

"For Heaven's sake, that joke is getting older and older all the time. We all get the fact that Jeff Goldblum was in a flick that involved him turning into a mutant fly, so you don't have to always make him appear when someone says the word "fly."

Well, can you two just get on with a physical fight already so you can both have the pleasure of beating the hell out of one another?

*Bob Barker suddenly appears*

"Could I just finish them both off instead? I DID beat the hell out of Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore....."

Oh! Why, of course you can Bob! You're like a God:D.

"You've got to be sh*tting me. A bloody American game show host as old as my ancestors threatening to hurt me? Don't make me f*cking lau--"

*Bob kills Gordon with a palm thrust*

"Wow. Impressive for an old man. But, unfortunately, the price is wrong...........b*tch--"

*Bob kicks Simon in the balls, and when he's on the ground, Bob stomps his head into the Earth*

"The price is right............b*tch."

"Why the hell did I get deja vu from the conversation between Bob and Simon?"

Because it was obviously from the movie Happy Gilm--

"Because they are lines from the movie, Happy Gilmore, my good man."

Was just about to say that:evil:. Until Next Time, LAT--

"Until Next Time, LATA!!!"

Now that was just plain annoyance:|.

Two Unexpected Movies I Was Not Planning On Seeing

COUNTDOWN!!!

Regular Days--9

School Days--7

Well, with another weekend ending, nothing really happened. Well, besides watching two movies I wasn't planning on seeing anytime soon (I'll get to that in a sec), the trailer park that I live in had its "Park Yard Sale" in which there are garage sales everywhere. Well, I had no idea that it was going on this weekend, because last time we had one, the park managers sent out flyers and notices to remind people, and I actually participated last year. This time, it took a glance out my front window to realize it was going on, so me and my dad just took a walk around, not expecting much. Well, there weren't very many, but each had some surprisingly decent stuff. I DID buy my second hip-hop album ever at one of these garage sales, and it was:

Don't know if there's any hip-hop heads that read my blog, but I got this sucker for only $1. Haven't listened to it yet, but from what I've heard from some boys at the Off The Books union, it's a pretty decent album, so I'm looking forward to listening to it. Oh, and Obie Trice is a Detroit rapper who works with Eminem and is on his label, so it should be good.

For those who don't listen to hip-hop, I won't bore you any longer with my talk of hip-hop music. Instead, I'll move on to movie reviews:D. This weekend, I've got two movies I wasn't expecting to see at all anytime soon, but they were really great. They are:

Knocked Up

(Hard to find a friggin poster with all the pron on Google Images:? ) Well, so much for seeing Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End this weekend:P. After seeing that this was playing at my theater, and the fact that it's becoming the most critically praised movie of the year so far, I could not pass up the opportunity to see it. Besides, it was from the director of 40-Year Old Virgin, so I KNEW I was in for a treat. Well, this was more than a treat. This was a comedy masterpiece. I haven't seen a movie this funny since Borat, and this beats the hell out of Borat anyday. It has the same s7y1e as 40-Year Old Virgin, some of the same actors, and the same sexual humor, but the laughs come more often. And it's not just mindless, immature humor either. It's a lot more sophisticated and mature than one would think. And this time, there's no idiotic dance number at the end like in Virgin. It ends with a proper note this time without any silly musical. The actors are, like I said, mostly actors from 40-Year Old Virgin, who all do a fantastic job of making the viewers laugh, especially Seth Rogan, who is one funny dude (you'll even notice that "Danger" from Million Dollar Baby and the fat guy that wore the hot dog costume and screamed like a girl in Accepted are in this movie as well  ). And, of course, you've got your cameos. There's a very funny moment that includes Ryan Seacrest saying some vulgar language. There's also a cameo from Steve Carell himself, so he's actually in this movie. A lot more familiar faces pop up as cameos, but I'll let you all see it yourselves. Overall, one of the year's funniest, as well as the best so far. Go see it if you want to piss your pants and cry in laughter. A 10/10.

Seraphim Falls

Probably none of you people have heard of this movie. I imagine it made a very limited release in theaters last year, which is why it's not very well known, but it's out on DVD, and I was curious to see it. After seeing the The Proposition, I've become more interested in the modern day Western genre a bit more, and after seeing solid reviews, this one looked cool. It has a very basic story, in which a man is on a hunt to capture this Colonel who burned his family in their house after the Civil War. And that's all that really happens in the movie, is that Liam Neeson is chasing Pierce Brosnan around the entire time. It is interesting, though, since it gets violent at times, and Brosnan's character does some weird sh*t to try to get by in the movie, including using a horse in a very "stealthy" way to kill one of Neeson's companions:P. The acting is alright I guess, with both men acting their heart out towards the end of the movie. The ending wasn't really shocking, and it felt forced just to end the movie, but I guess it was alright. If you're a Western fan, this is a nice movie to watch if you're bored on a Saturday night or something. It gets an 8/10.

Until Next Time, LATA!

A Spark of Hope of Seeing An Old Friend Again

COUNTDOWN!!!!!

Regular Days--11

School Days--7

Yup, gettin close. And this summer is going to be long, too:D. Wanna know why? Because my school FINALLY decided to follow the rest of the schools in the state by making school start AFTER Labor Day weekend instead of BEFORE, since starting BEFORE only causes problems in which we are in school for a couple of days, and then we get out of school more days before school actually starts to kick in. But that's a wise move on us students' parts:D. But my mom already said that I'm going to have to transport my grandpa from the cancer treatment center to home and back in forth constantly IF he decides to get checked into one of these clinics:cry:. I know I have to help my grandpa, though, so I'm not going to be selfish and put my foot in my mouth. Also this summer, sounds like my dad is going up to Minnesota to visit my half-brother, and I'm going to join him. We already took a trip back in 2005, which was an awesome trip, and I hope this trip will be just as awesome (it was WAAAAAAAAY better than that trip to Georgia last year). And finally, I have to find a job somehow, even though my mom says I don't need one. I just wanna get some moolah for some games and DVDs.

Now, have I got a story to tell all of you. About 2001, when we were living in Georgia, me and my mom's girlfriend's son were very close friends, almost brothers because me and my mom visited them all the time. Since his dad and mom were divorced, and the man was an *sshole who tried to persuade my "brother" to avoid his mother, he's been staying with his dispicable dad all these years and hasn't had anything to do with his mom. Well, just recently, he visited my mom's girlfriend's mother for the first time in years (whom we used to live with), and like the news of an unlikely video game sequal, the details were very limited as my mom's girlfriend talked with her mom on the phone, and because it was a brief visit. Well, then yesturday, we received a package of pictures in the mail taken by my mom's girlfriend's sister, who took some snapshots of his graduation. We barely got any actual pictures of him at all, but there was one crude image of his face in the distance, and this is the first time I have seen what he looks like in years! We're talking about 6-7 years here:shock:. Talk about exciting. After receiving the pictures and hearing about his visit to his grandmother's house down south, I'm actually starting to see a smudge of hope of actually reminiscing with him soon in the future:). OMG is it exciting. Now, I know you all probably don't give a sh*t, but this is a big deal for me, so I wanted to share my feelings with the public. Ain't nothing like seeing a long lost friend again.

SHIBBY!!!!!! So, time to share some quick movie reviews with ya. Here they are:

Letters From Iwo Jima

This is the second movie out of two of Clint Eastwood's Iwo Jima movies, in which this one is shown as the Japanese point of view. This was, of course, better than Flags of Our Fathers, and didn't switch around between two situations constantly to get the viewed confused. Nope, this movie just focused on the Japanese fighting and struggling on the island of Iwo Jima, and did it with great accuracy. You'll see how they gave up their lives for their country, either fighting or commiting suicide when they were in a stalemate, and their encounters with the Americans. Lots of graphic violence in this, since, like I said, there's a lot of suicide shown in this movie. Probably not as violent as Saving Private Ryan, but close. Not being a huge fan of World War II movies, this is probably my second favorite WWII movie behind Saving Private Ryan, since it barely gets boring, but for those who don't like foreign films, unfortunately, they'll have to pass this one up. It does get an 8.5/10, though.

A Time To Kill

Already seen this movie about 3 years ago, but I had to watch it in English, since we're comparing it to To Kill A Mockingbird. And the best way to describe this movie is a modern day To Kill A Mockingbird, only with a lot more violence, language, and profanity. I'm not a fan of courtroom dramas, but this one was actually interesting. It had lots of intense moments in between the court scenes, especially that fight between the KKK and the black protestors:P. EPIC!!!! Heh, just kidding. Also, this movie had a hell of a cast, with Matthew McConaughey once again playing a lawyer, Samuel L. Jackson playing a black man accused of murder, Kevin Spacy playing other lawyer who's against McConaughey's character, Sandra Bullock playing a hot law student helping McConaughey's character, and a supporting cast that includes Charles S. Dutton, Keifer Sutherland, Donald Sutherland, Chris Cooper, Ashley Judd, Oliver Platt, Kurtwood Smith, and other recognizable faces. Yeah, what a hell of a cast. But the acting was convincing enough to be credible. Some situations seemed awkward, but oh well. This movie gets an 8.5/10 as well.

Oh, and I apoligize to those who are anticipating to see my artwork up on here soon. I want to bring home my portfolio, but I always forget it at school:cry:. WHY!!!!!??? Oh well, you'll get to see it sometime these next few weeks hopefully:P. Until Next Time, LATA!

Garage Sales Are Addictive, Even During Weddings

Well friends, Memorial Day is just about over, and I think it's time to start a countdown until summer vacation because it's pretty damn close:D :

Regular Days--16

School Days--11

So, how's everyone's weekend been? Well, as all of you know, I went to my cousin's wedding on Saturday, expecting nothing but the worst. But it actually was pretty good. Well, the actual wedding part was crap, but the reception made up for it. Oh, speaking of the wedding, check this out. Right across the church was a house with a garage sale. And since we arrived early, and me and my dad cannot pass up garage sales, we jumped on that opportunity, even if we were all dressed up and ready for a wedding:P. And wouldn't you know it, I actually found something at that garage sale. The guy was selling a load of pre-owned DVDs for $5 each, and so I bought Half Nelson (10/10) and Babel (9/10) since those were deals I couldn't pass up:P. Then came the wedding part. It was surprisingly brief, lasting probably about 20 minutes, but barely anyone from the family showed up. It was probably the least crowded wedding I have ever been to. Sure, a few family members from Missouri came up, including another female cousin of mine I had no idea existed, but besides them, only a few people in my family that lived in Michigan actually came. Even the guy that was marrying my cousin barely had any family there. But then the reception came, and things turned out better. Heh, it was funny, because some people in my family that weren't even at the wedding decided to show up:roll:. Losers......anyways, it was all good. I got to converse with my 15 year old cousin from Missouri a little bit, which was cool, as well as watch some drunken bride's maids stumble around the whole time:lol:. Me and my cousin had our eye on this one who almost passed out a few times. It was pretty hilarious. She did fall once, but that was it. So yeah, a lot better than I thought it would be. Barely got to see my cousin who got married very often, but oh well. No big deal there.

Then Memorial Day came and.............things were normal again:?. I cut the grass, my mom barbequed, me and my dad went to get movies from the video store, yada yada yada. And I STILL haven't been able to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End yet:(. Oh well, maybe next weekend. Well, I have nothing more to say, except that I hope everyone's Memorial Day turned out great, and everything was safe. To end this, I have one movie score of another straight-to-DVD movie that I thought would turn out like 11:14, but turned out to be a disappointment. It was:

The Dead Girl--7.5/10
