@Pyrosa: Hmm, yeah I like 2049 but I still think it's not as good as the first film. The Final Cut of the first film anyway - the original version is actually a bit of a mess. People don't say much positive a bout Scott these days due to the disappointing Alien sequels, but I stand by his revisions to the Final Cut of Bladerunner, it is perfect.
@PrpleTrtleBuBum: Yeah, give me that gritty west, with guys drenched in sweat and dirt, dying of thirst in the baking sun, trapped in a deadly shootout. Realistic gun damage would help sell this, as would the other stuff you mentioned. I think Fallout has a lot of the stuff we want as far as lite survival mechanics, but you know, laser guns and shit.
My love of games comes from my love of movies, that's probably why I prefer single-player games and stories. The right amount of realism only helps this feel legit, and open-ended design is also an effort on the part of realism if you think about it.
@ronaldmcreagan: Usually I'm not a fan of totally linear, repetitive games where you just shoot and nothing else. However, I fucking love Max Payne 3, and I agree it's Rockstar's best game. There's no immersion killing, pointless side-activity "playground"bullshit. Just absolute intensity, start to finish, about a good man with atrocious luck. Solid mechanics, a great animation system (holding large weapons in his spare hand, because the gun has no sling), and a stellar soundtrack.
I am torn on a Max Payne 4 though - 3 was a good send off. How about a remake of the first two?
