You should get at least 500W. 600W+ to be on the safe side. The 600W OCZ StealthXStream for $95 on newegg does the job for me.76ers
Thats what im going to get in a few months. This and an antec nine hundred case. But in the mean time, my psu HAS TO be able to handle the 8800. Also, could anyone explain to me if it has to have 26A+ IN TOTAL no matter how many peripherals you've got. Like if the psu is rated 29A, it will work.

alright so i need some people to clear this up for me. My power supply has got 29A divided on 2 12V rails, and if i am correct 1 of those 2 rails goes to the cpu and the other 12V rail is for my gpu. Now to power up the card i want ( 8800gts 320mb), i need to have at least 26A AVAIBLE, but since my cpu is already using some power off the 1st rail, is there enough power left for the gpu? Because there is 14A for the cpu/gpu and 15A for the cpu/gpu. I would really like if you guys could clear this up for me, i probably just didnt get something that messed me over. Thanks in advance.

alright then its most likely a psu problem, do you remember what psu you have, wattage and the number of amps on the +12V rails? Also, how long have you been using this computer and when did you start having problems with it?

Mine is AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 512mb RAM (not sure of the speed), ATi X700Prodawgsfan1447
alright, now you need to figure out your temps for cpu and gpu. Download everest and tell us what are your idle temperatures and the temps you get under load (while playing a game i.e.).

it would help if you guys could post your specs, PSU specifications, temps for your cpu, gpu and overall system, then we can help determine what the problem is.

probably overheating... check your temps and also run a virus/spyware scan to make sure.
