save up a bit longer and build the pc yourself.  its a lot easier to build a pc than you think and if you ask for help myself or many others on the forum will help you.  its also a lot more affordable, get 800 bucks together and you can have a decent gaming rig.  if this isnt an option for you, you arent going to have a good gaming pc...unless you want to play older games.

Im pretty sure its easier to split a partition through windows...they have a built in partition manager i forget exactly how to get to it...havent done it in a longggg time.  The risk of losing or ruining your drive while doing it isnt that high...but yeah **** happens.  Dont be a **** technology is easy to fix.

Since the 250 gig hard drive you added to your system is currently partitoned as storage you dont have to reformat that drive, it will be recognized when you format the new master drive replacing your original 80 gig.  If you decide to add the new hard drive to replace the 80 gig you would have to install an OS on it because it will be your new master drive.  In other words youll have to format one of the drives (the one replacing the 80 gig) unless you mirror that drive which will ghost the 80 gigs information to the new one saving you from completely formatting.

get some fans...or a better heatsink to keep it cool while gaming.  sounds like your system (speciffically your video card) is just overheating.  if you're overclocking...you need good cooling.  idle temps difer from those while gaming.

Sweet!

I'm gonna go ahead and build me one myself then.

Let's hope it all turn out well! *crosses fingers*

Kloney

post your final concept build on here before you purchase the parts, everyone will give you input on what you put together and if it will work (even save you money to spend elsewhere on certain parts).  you're going to have a bomb ass system.  good luck.

hell yeah youll notice a difference.  less time loading maps etc.  plus 2 gigs will help you out with future titles...especially crysis and bio shock.  think of it this way...2 gigs is the new 1 gig in the gaming world.  so basically,   it is only unecessary if you dont plan on playing newer games...your call.

Compatible with both but will only do DX10 with vista (when a DX10 game finally comes out).

The only practical use of SLI that ive seen was in the PC Gamer custom build special edition magazine...they made an SLI setup that cost about 900 dollars.  Thas awesome, cause im a college student and i cant afford to build a 2000-3000 dollar rig.  I would say, if you've got the cash and can afford a huge ass monitor with a dual DX10 card setup...its worth it.  Will it ever be mainstream?  Doubtful with the way technology is going now.

When are the Intel C2D price drops coming?  Im getting very impatient because im itching to order the parts for my new pc...but im just going to play it cool until they drop their prices because im still undecided about AMD or Intel (im 90% sure that if the C2D's prices drop ill go Intel for the first time).  Good or bad decision to wait?  Since my video card died i havent played PC games in like 5 months...i think im going to die.  Im so excited to go from agp to pci-e.  Waiting for these price drops is killing me.

Also, what are the upcoming DX10 budget cards coming out...is the 8600 a myth?

Thanks in advance.
