He doesn't need that for his rig. I second the PC3200/mobo suggestion.

But I'd advise spending more on:

EDIT: Just noticed that the Foxconn is a pre order board.

I appreciate all the arguing on my part. :)

It's actually up in the air which way I'll go. If the C2D 6750 is going to be that low, I'll most likely go that way - I just wanted to know what all my options were before buying.

BTW, what current C2D does the 6750 line up with? Is it the 6600 or the 6700?

(Damn me for hijacking)

The E6700.

MSI P35 still a decent board for C2D procs? I don't want to overclock or anything, and don't want to spend a crapload either.

Well, I wouldn't be looking to overclock the 6000+. Would that make a difference in my choice?

Also looking for a few suggestions for an AM2 board. I'm thinking about getting a 6000+ X2 (between that and a p35/C2D6600).

I think you could run it on XP using boot camp on a 17" MBP or Mac Pro, just not with all the graphical bells and whistles. Half-Life 2 and Oblivion run fine, I don't see why a DX9, XP version of GoW wouldn't work. It's not that graphically superior to Oblivion (well, it is, but not by leaps and bounds).

Google FTW. Any discussion welcome, but I think I found my own answer.

Have heard, but can't find any documentation that Intels procs are being dropped. I'm looking to get a C2D 6600 - any one heard anything about it, specifically? Thanks.
