@jayskoon93: It seems disingenuous to separate out the superior PS4 and PC from the XBO in one sentence, and then turn around and say 'whatever... we're all gamers', in the next after someone points out PC is superior to PS4.

@gruoch1: Both consoles support PhysX and Nvidia Gameworks, so that won't be an issue.

@LonelyStep: My brother has been playing it on 360 lately, and for the most part it does actually look alright still. It definitely doesn't look as polished as the PC version cranked up, in terms of textures, and character and environment models. The bigger difference is in screen space effects and lighting, and I assume the remaster will also add PhysX to the game.

If they add the PC effects and sharpen up the visuals, and especially if they bring it up to 60fps, I would say that is a good package for someone new to the series, maybe people who jumped in on PS4/XBO with Knight. I'd probably get it if I didn't have it on PC, because Asylum was amazing.

@Fia1: It's 2-3 times longer than Doom or Doom II were. 12-13 hours sounds too long to me, as even those older, much shorter titles felt like they went on a bit long.

@justin12421: Pixel density, refresh rate, input lag. Monitors are just better.

So 65% the boring shit only 4 people, including the staff at Ubisoft, have ever cared about, and 35% the good stuff that is unfortunately really expensive to film.

@sladakrobot: Thanks to Bayonetta, and I guess how I've been able to use 3D World to teach my 5-yo nephew about games, I just fall on the side of thinking the Wii U was worth it. Still easily the poorest value console I've owned, and I've had quite a few since the mid-90's.

@auberonfall: The move to x86 with the XBO/PS4 was quite a big sign that the age of the weird and wonderful console was drawing to a close. A shorter cycle of leap-frogging consoles with inherent backwards compatibility is a great thing to happen. And I completely disagree with the people who are saying it negates the point of a console, you still will get a standardized, works out the box unit optimized for gaming.

As for building a PC, it's a great idea, I think it is clearly the best platform. The Pascal cards are stupid cheap, and with the performance/cost leap it's a good time to enter the market once they've put a few cards out. Volta is due in 2018, but that's aimed at non-gaming performance needs, so I wouldn't base my purchase timing around that because I think they'll be pricier for less gain.
