I haven't seen enough to say, but I've never been entirely comfortable with any book to film adaptation where I read the book first.

Actually, I do have one. Has anyone ever read Hatchet, concerning a young boy learning to survive in the wilderness with just a hatchet and his wits? Well, there's a film adaptation of it, named "A Cry in the Wild", and it is Absolutely Dreadful.

[QUOTE="jetpower3"]The real question is when does Black Mesa come out?110million

It's pretty much vaporware status at this point.

No, its a major project that takes a lot of work, it is basically remade from the ground up, by people who do it in their spare time.

They give occassional updates, but this is done on top of life, so it takes time.

And I guess we're getting it for free, so that's always a plus. That is if it does come out any time soon.

You know what... I do not have an answer.... In other news, how can the Zion people get the cloth for their clothes when they are underground without fields to grow cloth in and sun to make the plants grow? :o

MrEnvelope

That's the least of the "real world" and its issue with logic and physics. I wish it was still up, but The Intuitor had a great dissection of everything that was wrong with both the concept of surviving underground and how the machines operated.

Let's see how things are for this person when he is older and more economically settled.

[QUOTE="Elraptor"][QUOTE="percech"] There's nothing wrong about questioning the news.percech
Certainly not, but when the "question" is so far-fetched, it's usually a waste of time (not a personal criticism, TC).

The amount of information WikiLeaks revealed, I really don't think conspiracy theorists are so 'out there' with their theories. They are after all...theories.

What exactly did WikiLeaks reveal that wasn't already largely implied or inferred through analysis? If anything, I'd say it was more of a confirmation of widely held suspicisions, at least for the most part. Nothing particularly shocking.

Does this make the War in Afghanistan the deadliest war for the SEALS? As far as I know, just under 50 died in Vietnam, and in this war, this makes at least 33 killed in two helicopter crashes alone (this one and one in 2005). Although even if it does exceed the Vietnam War toll, does anyone know the per capita toll for each (was the SEALS force larger back then or now?)?

While we are on this subject, this is my favorite political parody from The Onion. It really emphasizes not only how it makes fun of both sides, but also how each party is so disconnected from the realities of its constituents it's not even funny.

Honestly, I wouldn't consider the top 1% of Americans "super rich". That's more like the top 0.0001%, or about 1% of all millionaires. The traditional definition of what constitutes being "rich" has seriously devalued with inflation and currency shifts.

I knew immediately that this was from The Onion. Just from reading the headline.
