I'm probably upgrading soon, gonna get the 4890 I think. But if these GPUs aren't gonna beoutdated, at least for the rest of this year, I'm not gonna get it. Will it last for a few years? For instance, my x1950xt lasted for years, but my 9600GT got outdated FAST.

Don't get me wrong guys I really want to try it. Basically the thing is i'm transferring to a new case within a few days and won't get the card for at least a few weeks; maybe more. so I guess it just would be easier to buy a new one b/c reinstalling my Apevia, getting a new card, then taking out the Apevia for a new one all in a month seems like quite a bit of trouble. Any good recommendations for a PS? I really need to keep this as cheap as possible while still being able to run a 4890 and everything without worries.

Of course that power supply is enough!!!The previous comment must hve been a mistake. The q6600 consumes 95watts, the 4890 (which would be my overwhelming choice) consumes at full load, a whoping 140wattts, but this, plus 3 case fans (15watts max) and then harddruve+other peripherals would amount to 400 watts MAXIMUM!! Really, go for it, without buying a new power supply. ATI and Nvidia always over estimate anyway, so the 4890 propably takes more like 120watts, so really, you've got plenty of head room (probably could even crossfire latter on if you want!) Hope this helps.

ha wow you sound pretty confident. I just don't want to build this pc then have to take it all out again...But if you insist, I'll stick with it.

Thinking about getting one of these cards soon. I have a new case coming, so if I do need a new PS I'll get it now. will my existing Apevia 500w (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817148027) power either of these cards no prob (i'm gonna have two case fans, and a q6600 stock as well)?

So it sounds like the 4890 or the 275. I already have Nvidia, so if they don't differ by much it'd be easier to stick with that......or would it?

Well I've pretty much ignored Graphics since my 9600GT, as it still holds up fine on every game. Now that I have a job though, might as well upgrade. What's new here in graphics? ATI or Nvidia? Which cards? Also, will there be any new ones coming I should wait for a while for?

Ever since I got my new rig (the first one I built from the ground up) I can't help this feeling that I organized it horribly. I know now I picked a horrendous case; the air flow is just horrible. I have great hardware in it (4 gigs, Q6600, 9600GT, 2 HDDs)and thenice CPU fan I got from Zalman simply isn't helping things much either. So now I'm thinking of getting a liquid cooling kit, as taking the whole damn thing apart to get a new case would be catastrophic for me. So the questions I have are 1) Willthe systemswork in most cases, especially a cramped one, and 2) can I get rid of my fans (my Zalman and this god awful side-cover fan that is insanely loud) or will I still have to keep them? and of course, which kit would you recommned for performance and ease of install (money isn't too big an issue, just not hugely overly priced).

ha thanks for the insight. Do you guys have as much desire to play in college? I'm kind of getting weaned off it now, nowhere near close to quitting (not that I want to) but it seems like I might lose the desire as well.

Far Cry - I absolutely hate the mutant levels. I have nothing against mutants in general but the mutants in FC are unbearable to me. Ninja Gaiden (NES) - Absolutely impossible. Same goes for Contras without cheating.RK-Mara

Same here. After the mutants started, not only was it not fun but it was hard. I just quit.
