Considering that Nintendo NX is an handheld console, I don't see how this is news. How can a handheld console use anything else but cartridges? When was the last time we saw a spinning optical disc handheld console, not since PSP era.
People are getting all up in flames, for what? NX is a handheld console that uses cartridges, like every other handheld console before it.
@Dilandau88: I think they are doing the right thing for once, they are making an handheld console and not competing with Sony or MS. I for one will get it as long as its handheld. I would have skipped it if it was a home console.
@lostn: Those are Read and Write Flash Storage. Your consumer flash media is designed for multiple writes and rewrites.
A game cartridge is a read ONLY flash media, it is designed with zero rewrite thresholds which makes them significantly cheaper.
Think 1 dollar per cartridge, cheap. Yes, that's how cheap modern cartridges are when mass produced.
The price of production is negligible compared to traditional spinning disc media. The benefits are ten fold. Think, no more game installation, no more scratched discs, no more broken optical lenses that need replaced.
Also, your whole point becomes moot when you consider the fact that the NX is a handheld gaming console, and handheld gaming consoles can ONLY use cartridges. Even the PS VIta uses cartridges.
@stuff238: Carts are better than discs, that's a fact. and HDD is slow as molasses and should cease to be used for gaming. My Gaming PC runs all games off of SSD, I only use HDD for pron and movies.
Spinning media is quite antiquated. I'm surprised its lasted this long considering how cheap Solid State media has become.
And one of the main reasons why NX is using Flash Memory is because its an handheld console, and you cannot use spinning disc media inside a modern handheld gaming device.
Also Cartridges eliminate the need for installs, which is always a plus.
Ah, the Japanese shaggy airy haircuts. LOL That shit's been popular since I was a kid, and their infamous upside down bucket hats that the Japanese love so much. I gotta give it to the Japanese, when they like something they keep it forever, never goes outta style.
I have a feeling when my kids grow up the Japanese will still be with their shaggy airy haircuts and their bucket hats.
That haircut has gotta be the single longest running in style trend in the history of haircuts.
Man she is really running out of money. This is pretty desperate. After her attempt at landing a wealthy husband didn't work.
That's the problems with celebrities who don't do anything. Its hard enough making decent money as an actress even harder making money not acting and just being yourself.
Too many celebs nowadays are trying to make a living being famous for the sake of being famous. Doesn't work for everyone.
