@Twin-Blade: I find almost all the dialogue in Game of Thrones to be laughably bad.
Its the fact that Martin tries to be poetic like Tolkien, yet lacks the fortitude to carry it through, so you end up with stilted layman's tongue mixed with spurts of eloquence, and it's really the combination of both that's makes his dialogue so cringe worthy.
If he just gave up and decided to have everyone talk like they are living in 2016, then the show would be ok. Or if he had the command of prose that Tolkien had and was able to have everyone talk with poetic reverie then it would also be ok, but it's ends up sounding like a retards version of Tolkien.
All in all, I like Martin's ability to kill off characters at will, but then again its 2016, every single writer under the sun kills off characters left and right against traditional convention, but Martin's dialogue is just beyond atrocious. I generally find myself laughing out loud every episode due to some stilted dialogue.
I think Martin's best trait is his command over the irony of life and the fact that human plans generally amount to nothing when placed against fate and luck. That's a fine writing trait, that is lacking in most writers.
@Mabrry: Likewise. Different strokes for different folks. Some people live for memorizing flowcharts. For me, its all about the story and lore when it comes to an action RPGs.
I was actually hoping that Nioh would not be a Souls clone. But at last I was wrong. Maybe they will put a difficulty setting in the final version so people can choose how overleveled the enemies are.
Kinda like The Witcher 3, you can choose to put yourself through the torture of dying in 2 hits if you want by upping the difficulty setting.
@slypher9: Since PS4 and XB1 are still in the market. Nintendo can at the very least be on par with PS4 and XB1 and get back into the race. Right now Nintendo is literally stuck in PS3 gen, and have zero third party games.
At least if NX is just as powerful as PS4 Neo and XB1.5, then Nintendo can stay in the console war for another generation.
They can ditch the NX early when PS5 comes out and release the NX2.
@Jinzo_111887: Why would anyone wanna play a watered down version The Witcher 3? It wouldn't even be The Witcher 3 without all the bells and whistle, it would be The Witcher 2.
Explain to me why devs need to go out of their way to water down their best games for the Wii U? And why would anyone wanna buy a watered down version of a game for the Wii U? When you can just buy another console and get the proper version of the game.
I don't understand why people need to put up with Nintendo's desire to make weak consoles? Why do devs need to put up with Nintendo's weak consoles? They don't. That's why Wii U sells like crap and that's why no third party dev wants to make games for Wii U.
How about this. Instead of the whole world bending backwards for Nintendo. Nintendo can make a powerful console for a change and stop forcing people to change for them.
@slypher9: The reason they support 3DS is cause Vita is like a PS3 and costs too much to develop games for. Handhelds have always thrived on minimum game development costs. Vita was so expensive to develop games for, that even Sony dropped first party support cause the games costs too much to make and sell for too little.
The reason Nintendo has no third party support on home console is cause their current system cannot run any of the multiplat games that are being released, and tons of money and time would need to be spend trying to get the games to run, and third party devs don't have the time or resources to port to an inferior console.
@esqueejy: Tolkien is a better writer period, his dialogue is masterfully woven. That's why he is considered a legend, and RRRR Martin can put all the Rs he wants in his name, but he's still just a decent writer.
Tolkien is a master of literary prose, and Martin is not. Martin's dialogue makes me wanna cringe or cry or laugh half the time, that Dragon scene had some of the most atrocious dialogue in the whole series.
@Jinzo_111887: Dude all the optimization on earth cannot make The Witcher 3 run on the Wii U. God himself cannot make The Witcher 3 run on Wii U. Wii U is last gen hardware its essentially a PS3 at its core, so how are devs supposed to optimize there games to run properly on last gen hardware.
Most of these games barely run on current gen hardware. Even after a million patches The Witcher 3 still struggles on PS4. There is optimization and there is magic, Wii U needs magic to make these games work. lol
@Poodger: Not even close to Lord of the Ring, George RRRRRR is no Tolkien no matter how many Rs he puts in his name. Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece, Game of Thrones or Fire Ice whatever is just a descent fantasy novel series.
You don't know how often I laugh at how horrendous the dialogue is in Game of Thrones. It's so touch and go, some lines sound cool, but are completely pointless, while other lines are just laughably bad.
Lord of the Rings didn't have a single bad line of dialogue. It was perfect.
Also RRRRRR loves writing dialogue that tries to sound cool, but are completely out of place and pointless. He has really poor command of fantasy prose which Tolkien was a master of.
