Many modern cell phones are already pushing 4K displays and LG now has a flexible/bendable 4K OLED panel. VR headsets could at the very least bump up to a full cell phone display per eye or even a curved ultra wide flexible panel. There's nothing wrong with making the headsets slightly larger and improving the field of view to 120 deg or better. I think the larger percentage of the VR skeptics will finally agree on it's validity and devs will be more encouraged to get their game visions in play.
However, getting back to the original topic. The processing power to push dual 8K displays doesn't even exist at a consumer level yet. We could hypothetically do 4K VR with multi gpu GTX 1080Ti on a wide view VR headset.
I have to question how the story campaign relates to having a need for such a vast gameworld. You can spend 400 hours in Fallout 4 or Skyrim and not really experience it all but still complete the main story, the entire point of the game between 40-80 hours. Imagine leaving the planet to do the other things that may or may not have to do with your story.
@deakenblack: Don't go around giving people bad advice. The Pro is a better option for almost everyone in nearly every way as long as your life isn't dictated by how many penny's you have in the crack of your couch. If you want quality and the exclusives only Sony provides, you get the Pro. If you don't give a shit about life or are too casual a gamer, get the cheaper Xbox One S. The PS4 Slim needs to be retired.
