Status (TV.com) - Do I even need to do this anymore?
Status (GameSpot) - Level 7, 72.39%, 920+ posts, 2 new reviews, many new tags, more games to collection.
Tomorrow, I'll likely lose my GameCube Aficionado emblem, since 50% of all my games are no longer GameCube titles (I did a major run-through and added N64 games and tags to my collection). The good news is that I'm most likely good to go for a Tagger Leader emblem now (organizing still, but I have a lot of tags now). My God, my post count has jumped tremendously...and my avatar is still getting some interesting attention ;) I'm keeping this one, regardless of whether the show is cancelled or not (I hope it isn't...).
Save the show, blah, blah, blah. Really don't need to say anything about that. I'm buying my copy of the DVD soon, plus I'll be rewriting my letter that I'll be sending to Cartoon Network (it's for clarifying some things and making sure I get my entire point across). Krypto seems to be running until the end of the month, in which it will likely be taken off the air for good. Until that time comes, I'll keep fighting to keep it alive.
Chapter 15...still delayed. It's because I'm spending a lot of my time each day either playing video games or on GameSpot (or various sites). I'll try and finish my editting tonight, but I can't guarantee it. I'd like to get it done by Saturday night (because Sunday marks two weeks since I started the chapter, and I'd rather not take that long to complete it). Rachel took the initiative to do her part, now I should stop being so lazy <(-_-)>
As of now, I'm currently questioning my time with Krypto the Superdog. It seems weird, but I find myself a little uninterested as of late in the show (my recordings still go unwatched). It's, actually, likely due to the fact that I've been busy on GameSpot. But, it could also be something else...whether or not I watch the show, I still seem to find inspiration in our loveable dog from Krypton. To be honest, I had done several things for Chaos Chronicles before (in my own mind, before I started writing). They were very lack-luster...until I saw Krypto. He was...I suppose I should say "perfect" for the direction I wanted to take things in. In other words...it's the characters that I find fit best in Chaos Chronicles.
Like Superman, he had potential character flaws, and a background that I could extort and twist to fit the Chaos Chronicles universe and theme perfectly. Being an alternate reality fic (since this could possibly be in place of arcs past JLU's Cadmus arc), I found more freedom to use with him. He was a hero, one of the last of his kind, and, like all heroes, should be searching for a purpose and a reason to use his powers and persona. So, by making him an Annihilator, I give him an opportunity to find his purpose as a "true hero", and not some guardian of Earth. Chaos Chronicles gives him the chance to experiment with both physical and magical powers. As the Annihilator of Fire, he takes full advantage of the powers of fire, which I think of as an element that absorbs things thrown into it, unfazed by whatever it crosses (case in point, Krypto's powers of mana, but I haven't quite revealed everything about the Annihilator powers yet ;)).
Magic has always been an amazing aspect to me. Originally starting with Quest 64, I based several magical theories on the four main elements: fire, water, earth, and wind. By adding two more elements, light and darkness, I completed a type of "chain" in the magic cycle that gave me a loose basis on what magic should be like. For Chaos Chronicles, I'd originally not had the Annihilators (this was way back before I even wrote the original version...), and just James Cerosa. I'm ashamed to go into any details further, but with Krypto came the inspiration for a group of magic users (I'd dubbed them mages, because, to me, a mage was the most supreme of any magician).
Well, what I'm getting at is...Krypto became a role model to me of what a "true hero" should stand for, only it should start out with noble intentions and see the true darkness to life, leaving everything else behind and fighting for a true cause. Essentially, that was our dear Superdog. Now, by adding in two more characters, I could complete the Annihilators (originally, I'd considered making Maximus an Annihilator, but that idea was quickly scrapped). Possibly another amazing addition was Krypto's super-partner himself, Superman. He, like Krypto, was another survivor of his race (Kryptonians, of course), and provided another noble persona.
Kal was noble, strong, and crafty, perfect for becoming a mage. In fact, it also gave me a chance to make him even stronger, considering that he gains the power to manipulate one of his own weakness (magic). As the Annihilator of Earth, he fitted the role completely. Earth is generally regarded as the element of strength. Of course, even being a mage, he'll still have to tackle problems with his mind and his own beliefs in what he thinks is right. Though he questions his position, he feels like he accomplishes what he sets out to do, and that's to redeem the ones he killed by saving lives with his new powers. Like Krypto, he wishes to seeing the importance and significance of his powers.
Last, but not least, we have Kevin. Rachel actually asked me why I chose Kevin as an Annihilator. Why didn't I choose another hero, like Streaky? Well, Kevin, at the point and time I set him at, is distrought and worried about what to do. Stress in his life is getting to him, and he looks towards someone that knows what he's going through for help. Since Krypto and Streaky have no idea, James Cerosa has his answers, in which he places full trust in him. Kevin has no prior experience with "super powers", other than his temporary trial with red kryptonite (I should say experiences, since he got transferred to Krypto's body, as well as got a sample of Krypto's powers). He wants to feel the joy and satisfaction that comes from saving souls, which can only be accomplished as the Annihilator of Wind.
Streaky was a little awkward for the role of the Annihilator of Wind. He was more of a comic relief for the show rather than "true hero" material. He had a slight grasp on his powers already, so he could likely handle Annihilator powers, should he obtain them. He'd likely use them for the wrong purposes  I wanted someone who either had no powers or had full control and realization of his powers. In this case, Kevin fit the bill. Streaky was just too silly to be taken seriously, and Kevin was more serious towards the situation. Streaky's jokes and personality would ruin moments of depression for the characters, so I needed someone that could understand the things that were happening, and react to them subtly.
Each of the six elements represents a certain personality. Fire...friendship. Water...caring. Earth...inner strength. Wind...truth. Darkness...innocence. Light...purity. I've tried to personify each Annihilator according to these (I might not've hit the right personalities for each one, but it's a basic picture). Okay, I'm likely boring you to death here, so I might as well finish this up. From the original version, and the original original version, I've come a long way. Krypto, Kal, and Kevin were the other three Annihilators that I needed to make the group a complete package. With a character for each element and personality (of which I might've slightly bent for them...), I created the Annihilators, and thus formed a story around them. Now, basically, I might've just covered some aspects of the characters for the first two parts of In the Beginning. Past those is more look into their true state of mind. In other words, this is the tip of the iceberg ;)
As they all become more aware of their powers and abilities, the three of them, along with James, Brian, and Epona, learn their true purpose and the significance of being an Annihilator. What Kal and Krypto thought was what made them heroes before completely changes when they see the real good their powers can do. As for Kevin, he doesn't just sit back as in most stories, but takes action, and handles things incredibly well (it was another turn away from the show that I wished to exercize). No other people (or animals) could fit the role of the Annihilators as well as the three of them could. Plus, being Kryptonian allowed me to put in a short backstory involving Leon and our supers, which is another reason why this is an alternate universe story ;)
Also, some reminders to me of what I need to do, story-wise, in the long run -
- Explain the magic user cycle (and use the terms "magician" and "element bender" if I haven't already).
- Fully explain a mage. ***SPOILERS***: For those interested, a mage, essentially, is the final step in the magic user cycle. They differ from the other magic user types because they can process mana and energy flawlessly and without intricate thought on what the outcome of their attack needs to be (sorcerers take about a second of two to create energy blasts, while mages hardly even need half a second). Alchemy can be done without circles, summoning takes no complete knowledge of how to create a summoning circle, and no incantations are required for creating complicated spells. Upon becoming an Annihilator, they are automatically mages, and only need training to fully acheive their powers.
- Explain the past of the Cerosas.
- Make full use of Maximus' alchemical and technological powers.
- Creating "bonding moments" between the three new Annihilators and James.
- Somewhat lighten James' personality.
- Do anything else that is necessary.
Also, I finally figured out how to ignore that annoying "automatic line-skip". Shift + Enter is all you need, for those who hadn't already figured out (took me a while -_-). Not much more to talk about, other than I'm on a posting and tagging rampage. I'm making more friends each day (yay), and I'm slowly leveling up at the moment (about 9-10% each day, but I should be near the end of level 7 by tomorrow).
Until then 8)
