Tagger King

Status (GameSpot) - Level 8, 73.27%, 1500+ posts, lots of new tags, some new friends, no new reviews.

Estimated Level Cap - 16.6%

I'm finally a Tagger King!!! Muwahahahahahaha  First order of business as Tagger King...love being a Tagger King. Now that that's done...yay :D Last night, I went on a posting rampage through one of my unions (The Creators' Guild), which got me around 50+ posts. I lost some percentage from the level cap, yes...but it's worth it to be a Tagger King 8) I only have...one other friend who's also a King, and that'd be Warfust.

Now that my ranting about that's done, I should also say that Chapter 15 is still taking forever. I'm getting (hopefully) three new games today. I know I'm getting Paper Mario 2: The Thousand-Year Door (had it, lost it), but I'm praying to God I can find Electroplankton and Baten Kaiton: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean (also had it, also lost it). I love how irony works...I want two of the rarest games in existence, and they're only rare because I didn't get them earlier...yeah, you can see why I'm mad.

New competition in The Super Smash Bros. Alliance. I actually have a chance to become an officer (might have to do some inviting...), so I'm hoping for that as well. Also, I'm soon to get involved in a "SSB 4-Way Brawl" as Shiek. I haven't done one of those before, so I'm just a little confused as to how you do it (well, I was...until I read all of the "Rules Thread"). Should be fun :)

I recently purchased LostMagic for the DS. It's fun...but hard. Pretty well done...but hard. Good graphics...but hard. I like how you have (quote) "up to 400 magic spells". I don't like how hard it can be...it's just so difficult because you need to use a lot of strategy. I'm having quite a bit of luck with drawing the runes (also hard -_-), and with capturing enemies and adding to my squad. Bosses...yeah, that word. I'll score it when I get farther into the game. Perhaps when I discover 200 of the spells

I really want my games right about now. I need something to keep me busy for a while during the summer (and something to just lose reality [Electroplankton]). Otherwise, there's always AdventureQuest...but that's getting quite boring at the moment. If I ever get all four pieces of the Blade of Awe, I'll become a Guardian (I have two so far, as well as the stonewrit). There's definitely a lot that $20/25 can get you in this game (access to, essentially, four games). I have a craving for RPGs right now (why can't Final Fantasy V/VI Advance come out now?).

Today might be rather slow. I'll try to work on my fic, but I might be a bit busy with my new game(s). I have about a thousand songs stuck in my head, so I could use Electroplankton to drown them out -_-' That's really about all to it. I'll be getting my game(s) in a few minutes, so until then, I'll probably be browsing the site. Krypto the Superdog has a great chance to stay on air at the moment, so there isn't much to worry about.

Until then 8)

(Oh...and any more opinions on my avatar, sig picture, or profile banner?)

Rate My New Banner

On GameSpot, for those wondering...

I wanted to personalize a bit more. I had an About Me picture, a custom avatar, a sig picture...the works. Then I wanted a banner, and...well, I decided that, since Krypto's element in my fan fic is fire, the background would characterize him a bit more. Still don't like how it came out...had to redo it because you couldn't see one of the lines of text passed the tabs at the top. It would of said "Protector of the innocent...". Actually, the fourth line would've said that, whereas the current fourth line would be the fifth.

The background creator is credited in my blog header. Any thoughts?

Rate My Newer New Sig

Not sure if anyone cares, but I enlarged the previous one and added more text. What it means...well, don't worry about that. Unless you've ready my fan fic, you won't understand the third line, and no one really understands the first two lines until I get my second story out. But, ignoring that...

Any opinions?

Level 8 - Quad Damage

Status (GameSpot) - Level 8, 6.6%, 1100+ posts, no new reviews, some new tags.

Well, finally got past that hellish level 7. Sure, level 20's gonna be worse, but level 7, for me, took longer than it really should've. At about 11% a day, it really got me pissed -_- Today, I'm gonna watch a lot of videos and do some tagging of said videos (since those two things are things that help me level). This way I can figure out a possible level cap for level 8. Also, I've gained two new friends today, and I'm becoming increasingly active in my unions.

The future of KtS looks grim, and yet surprisingly bright. We're not totally sure what's about to happen, since we've received news that they're ending the show due to licensing issues and ratings. Then again, we just received an announcement that sorta contradicts this. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'll be buying the DVD as soon as possible. I've sent in my letter, and yet I feel that it won't be necessary with the recent announcement :)

My Krypto avatar and sig are getting some pretty good attention. I can pretty much understand, since it adds to my unique personality here on GameSpot. Still looking to customize my profile here a bit more. Maybe I could find a different picture to work with, signature-wise. Regardless, it looks pretty good at the moment ;) I'm also trying to reduce the number of boards I post in, other than the union boards. I'd prefer not to draw attention with this, in fear that I might be breaking a copyright. I did, however, credit the creator in my sig and my blog header.

I might be getting a new game soon. I have to keep busy over the summer, after all ;) I should probably start practicing my cello soon, considering that I need to keep up my skills over the summer...plenty of other things I have to keep up with, such as exercize and the amount of sunlight I don't receive (gamer :P). Another thing that's kept me busy is AdventureQuest. I know, I said I quit, but I'm giving it another chance (and I'm actually doing a lot better). Not ready to become a Guardian yet, even though it's a one-time payment. Just don't need to at the moment. I'm pretty much searching for an RPG (I already know which one I'm getting).

I could probably say more, but that's about it for me. Just kicking back for the summer, and I really should start finishing my next fic chapter. I've already made a small announcement on my fan fic page (also editted it slightly in the last few hours). I wish I could get a special picture of Krypto as my blog header, rather than the current one of Kratos Aurion. Uhhh, yeah, there's probably more, but that's all I'll comment on.

Until then 8)

New Sig Picture

Status (GameSpot) - Level 7, 83.26% (stupid level cap -_-), 970+ posts, 1 new review (Banjo-Kazooie), some new tags, 1 new emblem (Tagger Leader).

God I hope that loaded. Anyways...yeah, I've got a new sig image. It's from deviantART (and I hope that I'm reading the Terms of Service for dA right :?). Modified a little, yes, but if I read the ToS correctly, deviantART allows the pictures to be copied by "third parties". Seriously hope I read it right :( For some reason, people think he's drunk  And yes, I gave credit to the creator for the picture in my sig and my avatar.

Well, now that I've identified an 11% or so level cap for level 7, I should reach level 8 by Monday. Still hoping to reach Tagger King soon ;) Tagger Leader looks supremely awesome, but King's better. Still, it's an easy way to earn points (and earn them without exploiting the system). I wish TV.com had tags. Then again, it seems to fit GameSpot a bit more.

Still finishing up the editting on Chapter 15. If you're asking why it's taking so long, I have to go through, correct the spelling mistakes, check for continuity, and add the ending part. It's not easy...

I still need to buy the Krypto DVD, retype my letter, send my letter, and pray for success. May God be with the show, cause things look a little grim at the moment (notice I said a little, whereas before it was completely). We still have time to save it, so I hope we're successful. If it stays, can't wait for season two to finish up and season three to come afterwards ;)

I suppose that's mostly all of it. I've joined a few new unions, plus resigned from a few others, so my post count should keep going up for a long while. Hope I can keep my sig and avatar.

Until then 8)

Level Cap?

Okay, maybe some of my friends on GameSpot can help me with this one. Is there a specific amount of points that you can earn each day at each level? I'm guessing so, because I've heard it talked about. But someone's gonna have to explain this one to me...yesterday, I did at least 350 tags, a review, more than 70 forum posts, and watched over 20 videos (not to mention logging on and browsing around). I know that posts and watching videos aren't worth much (if anything at all), but I earned only 11%, whereas I earned about that much when I did a lot less the day before that (including a review). From experience, tags are worth enough so that I'd gain an adequate amount of points if I did a lot.

Basically, I'm earning the same amount of points each day, which I've seen happen to other users (I think it was either Warfust or Chet who was gaining 23% each day). Well, I just feel like I'm being cheated out of points :P Especially considering that I did a LOT yesterday. Well, basically, I've just answered myself there  Still, can anyone confirm this?

Level caps on GameSpot must be a bit different from TV.com if so.

Being Lazy (Still...)

Status (TV.com) - Do I even need to do this anymore?

Status (GameSpot) - Level 7, 72.39%, 920+ posts, 2 new reviews, many new tags, more games to collection.

Tomorrow, I'll likely lose my GameCube Aficionado emblem, since 50% of all my games are no longer GameCube titles (I did a major run-through and added N64 games and tags to my collection). The good news is that I'm most likely good to go for a Tagger Leader emblem now (organizing still, but I have a lot of tags now). My God, my post count has jumped tremendously...and my avatar is still getting some interesting attention ;) I'm keeping this one, regardless of whether the show is cancelled or not (I hope it isn't...).

Save the show, blah, blah, blah. Really don't need to say anything about that. I'm buying my copy of the DVD soon, plus I'll be rewriting my letter that I'll be sending to Cartoon Network (it's for clarifying some things and making sure I get my entire point across). Krypto seems to be running until the end of the month, in which it will likely be taken off the air for good. Until that time comes, I'll keep fighting to keep it alive.

Chapter 15...still delayed. It's because I'm spending a lot of my time each day either playing video games or on GameSpot (or various sites). I'll try and finish my editting tonight, but I can't guarantee it. I'd like to get it done by Saturday night (because Sunday marks two weeks since I started the chapter, and I'd rather not take that long to complete it). Rachel took the initiative to do her part, now I should stop being so lazy <(-_-)>

As of now, I'm currently questioning my time with Krypto the Superdog. It seems weird, but I find myself a little uninterested as of late in the show (my recordings still go unwatched). It's, actually, likely due to the fact that I've been busy on GameSpot. But, it could also be something else...whether or not I watch the show, I still seem to find inspiration in our loveable dog from Krypton. To be honest, I had done several things for Chaos Chronicles before (in my own mind, before I started writing). They were very lack-luster...until I saw Krypto. He was...I suppose I should say "perfect" for the direction I wanted to take things in. In other words...it's the characters that I find fit best in Chaos Chronicles.

Like Superman, he had potential character flaws, and a background that I could extort and twist to fit the Chaos Chronicles universe and theme perfectly. Being an alternate reality fic (since this could possibly be in place of arcs past JLU's Cadmus arc), I found more freedom to use with him. He was a hero, one of the last of his kind, and, like all heroes, should be searching for a purpose and a reason to use his powers and persona. So, by making him an Annihilator, I give him an opportunity to find his purpose as a "true hero", and not some guardian of Earth. Chaos Chronicles gives him the chance to experiment with both physical and magical powers. As the Annihilator of Fire, he takes full advantage of the powers of fire, which I think of as an element that absorbs things thrown into it, unfazed by whatever it crosses (case in point, Krypto's powers of mana, but I haven't quite revealed everything about the Annihilator powers yet ;)).

Magic has always been an amazing aspect to me. Originally starting with Quest 64, I based several magical theories on the four main elements: fire, water, earth, and wind. By adding two more elements, light and darkness, I completed a type of "chain" in the magic cycle that gave me a loose basis on what magic should be like. For Chaos Chronicles, I'd originally not had the Annihilators (this was way back before I even wrote the original version...), and just James Cerosa. I'm ashamed to go into any details further, but with Krypto came the inspiration for a group of magic users (I'd dubbed them mages, because, to me, a mage was the most supreme of any magician).

Well, what I'm getting at is...Krypto became a role model to me of what a "true hero" should stand for, only it should start out with noble intentions and see the true darkness to life, leaving everything else behind and fighting for a true cause. Essentially, that was our dear Superdog. Now, by adding in two more characters, I could complete the Annihilators (originally, I'd considered making Maximus an Annihilator, but that idea was quickly scrapped). Possibly another amazing addition was Krypto's super-partner himself, Superman. He, like Krypto, was another survivor of his race (Kryptonians, of course), and provided another noble persona.

Kal was noble, strong, and crafty, perfect for becoming a mage. In fact, it also gave me a chance to make him even stronger, considering that he gains the power to manipulate one of his own weakness (magic). As the Annihilator of Earth, he fitted the role completely. Earth is generally regarded as the element of strength. Of course, even being a mage, he'll still have to tackle problems with his mind and his own beliefs in what he thinks is right. Though he questions his position, he feels like he accomplishes what he sets out to do, and that's to redeem the ones he killed by saving lives with his new powers. Like Krypto, he wishes to seeing the importance and significance of his powers.

Last, but not least, we have Kevin. Rachel actually asked me why I chose Kevin as an Annihilator. Why didn't I choose another hero, like Streaky? Well, Kevin, at the point and time I set him at, is distrought and worried about what to do. Stress in his life is getting to him, and he looks towards someone that knows what he's going through for help. Since Krypto and Streaky have no idea, James Cerosa has his answers, in which he places full trust in him. Kevin has no prior experience with "super powers", other than his temporary trial with red kryptonite (I should say experiences, since he got transferred to Krypto's body, as well as got a sample of Krypto's powers). He wants to feel the joy and satisfaction that comes from saving souls, which can only be accomplished as the Annihilator of Wind.

Streaky was a little awkward for the role of the Annihilator of Wind. He was more of a comic relief for the show rather than "true hero" material. He had a slight grasp on his powers already, so he could likely handle Annihilator powers, should he obtain them. He'd likely use them for the wrong purposes  I wanted someone who either had no powers or had full control and realization of his powers. In this case, Kevin fit the bill. Streaky was just too silly to be taken seriously, and Kevin was more serious towards the situation. Streaky's jokes and personality would ruin moments of depression for the characters, so I needed someone that could understand the things that were happening, and react to them subtly.

Each of the six elements represents a certain personality. Fire...friendship. Water...caring. Earth...inner strength. Wind...truth. Darkness...innocence. Light...purity. I've tried to personify each Annihilator according to these (I might not've hit the right personalities for each one, but it's a basic picture). Okay, I'm likely boring you to death here, so I might as well finish this up. From the original version, and the original original version, I've come a long way. Krypto, Kal, and Kevin were the other three Annihilators that I needed to make the group a complete package. With a character for each element and personality (of which I might've slightly bent for them...), I created the Annihilators, and thus formed a story around them. Now, basically, I might've just covered some aspects of the characters for the first two parts of In the Beginning. Past those is more look into their true state of mind. In other words, this is the tip of the iceberg ;)

As they all become more aware of their powers and abilities, the three of them, along with James, Brian, and Epona, learn their true purpose and the significance of being an Annihilator. What Kal and Krypto thought was what made them heroes before completely changes when they see the real good their powers can do. As for Kevin, he doesn't just sit back as in most stories, but takes action, and handles things incredibly well (it was another turn away from the show that I wished to exercize). No other people (or animals) could fit the role of the Annihilators as well as the three of them could. Plus, being Kryptonian allowed me to put in a short backstory involving Leon and our supers, which is another reason why this is an alternate universe story ;)

Also, some reminders to me of what I need to do, story-wise, in the long run -

- Explain the magic user cycle (and use the terms "magician" and "element bender" if I haven't already).
- Fully explain a mage. ***SPOILERS***: For those interested, a mage, essentially, is the final step in the magic user cycle. They differ from the other magic user types because they can process mana and energy flawlessly and without intricate thought on what the outcome of their attack needs to be (sorcerers take about a second of two to create energy blasts, while mages hardly even need half a second). Alchemy can be done without circles, summoning takes no complete knowledge of how to create a summoning circle, and no incantations are required for creating complicated spells. Upon becoming an Annihilator, they are automatically mages, and only need training to fully acheive their powers.
- Explain the past of the Cerosas.
- Make full use of Maximus' alchemical and technological powers.
- Creating "bonding moments" between the three new Annihilators and James.
- Somewhat lighten James' personality.
- Do anything else that is necessary.

Also, I finally figured out how to ignore that annoying "automatic line-skip". Shift + Enter is all you need, for those who hadn't already figured out (took me a while -_-). Not much more to talk about, other than I'm on a posting and tagging rampage. I'm making more friends each day (yay), and I'm slowly leveling up at the moment (about 9-10% each day, but I should be near the end of level 7 by tomorrow).

Until then 8)

Explaining Cartoon Network

Yes, I know, three blogs in one day. Still, this one's for discussing the inner psyche behind why Cartoon Network is trying to cancel Krypto, and how that affects DCA (DC Animation) as a whole.

First off, I'd like to say thanks to everyone who continues to support Krypto the Superdog (and everyone on The Superman Homepage that'll be buying Krypto DVDs to support the show). Second off, I've noticed that many people are confused about how this is working out. Why does cancelling a minor show, like KtS, eventually ruin the entire DC standings? It's very simple, really. This is actually all a big licensing issue. Both Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. (regular and Animation) are ran by Turner Broadcasting, meaning it's their decision to take the show off the air if ratings don't improve, and WBA and CN have to agree, otherwise it means huge legal battles. DC also has partnerships with both WBA and CN, but is mostly partnered with WBA.

Relationships with CN have never been good with DC, and WBA mostly works on shows with DC (since they're in a conjoined effort with Superman-related shows, such as Krypto the Superdog). Here's the main point: because of CN's poor decisions about time placement for the show (a constantly-changing timeslot that keeps getting earlier and farther away from their target audience), they're blaming that the show is no longer popular, when it's clearly their own fault that it's not getting any ratings. KtS is DC/WBA's last remaining show (they already cancelled Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans after a while for some unknown-to-myself reason), and once it's gone, CN will have severed their ties with DC/WBA.

The licensing issue goes like this. Cartoon Network original shows, such as Ben 10, Foster's, and Juniper Lee, will earn them more money when they cash in on toy lines and other marketing supplies. When getting shows from other channels or sources (case in point, DCA), they pay a licensing fee, and then give a part of the profits that they earn with that show's supplies to the source, meaning CN doesn't get all that they want, and they start getting...greedy. By not hosting shows like Krypto and Teen Titans, they thus don't lose profit, and they can replace those with their own original shows to earn maximum moolah. The problem is that, by cancelling great shows like these, they lose their audience to a degree, and thus still lose money. In other words, taking some shows belonging to sister companies off the air and replacing them destroys relationships with them, and also establishes distrust with the viewers that liked those shows. It's a lose/lose proposition.

Now onto another main point: why does taking off one show result in the elimination of the others? Like I said, it establishes distrust, and once one show is pulled, the others are soon to follow due to whoever decides to take them, whether it be the source or the supplier (source is DC, supplier is CN). DC can try to hold onto Teen Titans' place on Cartoon Network once KtS is off the air, but Cartoon Network has to make sure they get maximum profits by getting rid of that, too. Boomerang is the safe haven for these shows, since it's legally obstructed from licensing fees in return for offering old or forgotten shows a home where they can be seen again. Shows that go there will allow their owners to obtain all profits made by licensed products.

Still though...why is Krypto that important on Cartoon Network, you ask? Because it's the last remaining DC/WBA show, remember? At least, the last one receiving renewal. Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited ended without objection, due to decisions by Turner, which thus got in some distrust early. JLU isn't aired on there anymore, and TT is barely holding on. Krypto, once eliminated, means that it's no more trust between DC, and thus no more DCA/WBA programming on CN, meaning that DC no longer has a channel to put its shows on, and it thus destroys itself. With Krypto gone, every other show is not only a target, but is merely shot down with one bullet. It's exactly what CN wants, and it's exactly what will happen if Krypto the Superdog isn't renewed.

With a poor decision of where to put Krypto, time-wise, Cartoon Network has completely screwed its chances of a successful partnership in the future with two of the biggest cartoon companies, all because they saw it as a loss in profit with hardly any ratings. Nickelodeon and Disney used to have my trust, but they kept on producing crap programs that just didn't satisfy (though there were, and still are, exceptions). And, in time, that's exactly what will happen to Cartoon Network. Act now, and CN will live, as will DCA and WBA. It's all riding on one show...

Until then 8)

Not Without A Fight (UPDATED)

Status (TV.com) - Same.

Status (GameSpot) - Level 7, 50.65%, 730+ posts, many new tags, 2 new reviews.

I always reveered Cartoon Network for their quality programming and intelligence towards what viewers want. Of course, if you read the blog below, you'll understand that that's changed. They're taking Krypto off the air for the most illogical and stupid reasons. Think about this, CN...I can understand that you don't want to pay DC money, but here's the thing: you're not getting ratings because you put the show at a s***ty time. It's not because people aren't interested, but because you're too f***ing clueless to know that most people are either sleeping or have work or school to attend to. You've set your own downfall, dug your own grave, and made your own big mistake, and you're trying to act like it never even happened. All you need to get more ratings is...yes! Put Krypto at a logical time! Cookie...nope. You don't get a cookie, because it's not happening, is it?

Whew...okay, I'm done complaining. Seriously, though, Cartoon Network doesn't get ratings for this show because the time it's set at totally sucks (and they, apparently, can't take a hint...). I can live if the show reappears on Boomerang or some other channel, but if it just floats around in the graveyard, then it's basically not setting well with me. Anyone else agree? I'd also like Megas XLR back, now -_-

Chaos Chronicles - In the Beginning, Eternity of Souls, Mind of Daemon, and In the Darkness will still continue as normal, with or without Krypto still on air, and with our beloved dog still a main character. Also, with the shock that came today, I'm really depressed, and it might take until tomorrow to finish editting Chapter 15. I'm sure other people can relate :(

GameSpot is a bit of a refuge for me now. Posting is plentiful, potential friends as far as the eye can see, unions to post in, games to talk about, points to be made, heartache to be felt when I get to level 20 and experience the glitch that might take me a few months to pass...yep, it's pretty nice here (aside from some qualities). More reviews to come tonight, possibly, and more work to be done on Chapter 15 tonight.

Yes, 'tis a hard time for all KtS fans everywhere. Word of this will likely reach ToonZone (I hope...). If anyone already has a TZ account, could you inform everyone there on the Cartoon Network and DC Comics forums (it concerns both forums, really). I'll be sending in my letter as soon as possible (which likely means this weekend :(). Wish I could do it faster...for everyone else, I wish the best of luck. I'll be praying that everything turns out okay...also, does anyone have any clue how I'd write the following adress on an envelope? I don't know exactly what goes on which line...

Save Krypto c/o Programming | Cartoon Network | 1050 Techwood Dr. NW | Atlanta, GA 30318

The "|" represent where I think should be a new line. I'm not really sure, cause they didn't specify exactly, and I'm not that great at mailing...thanks in advance.

That's all for me tonight. I'll be constantly praying for the revival of our dear Superdog. Until then, and good luck 8)

- James Owens, kryptofreak120, Aeonis

PS - Rachel is pissed...also, thanks to catfan1 for confirming the adress for me (it's done as I wrote it above).

UPDATE - The Superman Homepage is also taking action (thanks in part by Neal Bailey). Think about this for a second. They have 300,000+ users registered, all of which will do anything to save the state of DC and WBA on Cartoon Network. Neal has said that, with enough support and sales of Krypto DVDs, DC might have a chance to stay alive on Cartoon Network, and Krypto might be saved. As many have suspected, if Krypto dies, then so does every other part of DC. I can't explain it to much, so check out the actual article -

An Injustice Has Been Done

Today marks...possibly the worst day in my life so far. As anyone who cares has found out, Krypto the Superdog has been considered for cancellation by Cartoon Network. Their ratings for the show have reflected disappointment, and it's, at the moment, on the bubble. Soon, it'll be canceled unless we do something, and catfan1 has pointed out the article about it. A letter-writing campaign has begun to save the show, and I intend to take part in it, whether it'll be successful or not.

This will possibly sway Cartoon Network's decision by showing them the large fanbase that they have in place. Two other popular shows, Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited, were also cancelled, but with little warning since we had no idea when they'd end. Krypto befalls a similar, and yet different, fate. We've been warned ahead of time, and now every fan has a chance to retaliate and save the show.

Obviously, a huge deal of this is Cartoon Network's fault. They gave us no announcement of season two, no huge promotion of Krypto, and on top of that, the timeslots keep getting worse, and they're clueless that that's what's causing the ratings to plummet!!! The real hypocracy here is that they've always played things smart, and yet they get bad ratings for a show and make one of the poorest television mistakes of all time: moving it back to an earlier time, when most of its audience is either asleep, at school, or at work.

I could ramble on about this, but basically, one of the smartest TV channels of all time has been rendered clueless by how to obtain more ratings, and instead did the opposite of what it should've done. I never though I'd have to say this, but...if Krypto gets cancelled, I'll have lost any and all respect for Cartoon Network. I'm sure that many of the other KtS fans have been struck down by this announcement. I say we need to at least show them that they're making a mistake.

Whether it makes a difference or not, I'll be doing everything I can to save it. Don't let Krypto end up in the "television graveyard"!

- James Owens
