@SRTtoZ--Yes, the same can be said for many games..you're correct...and THAT is exactly the reason why some franchises are good, some are very good..and a very select few are great. Like the examples I gave, all my opinion of course.AC is hardly a great franchise in my book...not even close.

The series as of now? Yes, definitely. UC2, however,is the best game out of the 4. Gears 1 was a masterpiece of a new IP, with game mechanics that set precedents for the industry to follow...even Uncharted was influenced by the same. It was also one of the very! few console games to be a true graphicsleader at the time of its release. Gears 2 was a great sequel as well.

Uncharted was a good game, nothing more..nothing less. UC2 is a bonafide classic and, as I said before..the best game of the 4. The thing is, after playing Uncharted 2, you just can't play and enjoy UC1..while you could still play Gears 1 today and have fun(even more fun than Gears 2 maybe). That's what makes a series click. MGS, Ninja Gaiden, Halo, Metroid Prime are some examples of this. If one game in a seires makes the others redundant, then the developers are going about it in a wrong way imo. That's where Gears scores over Uncharted.

Gamecube was great, no doubt. But, what's this "by a wide margin", "not even close" I keep reading in many posts. The obvious ones like Halo CE, Halo 2, Star Wars KoTor 1/2, Ninja Gaiden/Black, Fable aside; have people not played/heard of...

Jade Empire

Jet Set Radio Future

Crimson Skies

Forza Motorsport 1/2

Project Gotham Racing 1/2

Chronicles of Riddick-Escape from Butcher Bay

Dead or Alive 3/Ultimate

Oddworld: Strangers Wrath

Otogi: Myth of Demons

...and absolutely godly games in Panzer Dragoon Orta and Psychonauts. I might be missing a few for sure. But seriosuly, how can anybody call this being "far behind" anything? This attitude just boggles me. The original Xbox deserves much more credit than it gets imo.

While Gears is a better overall game, it's nowhere near KZ3 on a technical level. Also, saying Gears is a better game doesn't mean KZ3 is not a good one. Actually, it's definitely one of the better shooters of this gen imo. I don't think the story of either one is better than the other, but the Gears way of storytelling is definitely more engaging.

^^Lack of IQ for the win!!

I didn't even mention which out of A, C or D I prefer. Heck, for all you know..A could be my favourite game of all time. Yet, you come out with this opinion nonsense. You didn't mention any opinion, you're just here spouting nonsense about how reviwers are bribed and what not. Please, just walk away..put a helmet on..before you or anyone else gets hurt.

Please let me know if that was too cryptic for you.

EDIT--^^Directed at the OP's post ..not the one above mine.

Exclusive shooter A flops(on SW), fanboy B takes a multiplat shooter C and carefully spins it to belittle exclusive shooter D on another console. That's system wars for you.

@sts106mat--Oh, it was not aimed at anyone. Just my general thoughts on the game.

You will probably find the gameplay in ME2 shallow if you're playing it as a shooter exclusively. A sentinel or vanguard playthrough on Hardcore/Insanity will quickly change your opnion though. Vanguard...Heavy Charge>Claymore blast to the face of a collector with tungsten ammo-OHKO>moving on to the next target is just one of the many many things you can do with the various permutations you can do with the game.

Trust me, it's anything but shallow...there's quite a bit of skill involved in high level ME2 gameplay. Playing as a soldier on normal will obviously feel shallow. Disappointment will ensue as the gunplay does not pack as much punch as something likeGears. Heck, anything on normal "may" feel shallow since you can still shoot your way to victory except maybe a squishy adept.

The gameplay in an RPG is a sum of the narrative plus mechanics anyway..so yeah BioWare have always done a tremendous job for me.

Well..I bought one about a year ago for solely for Demon's Souls. I haven't regretted my decision...Uncharted 2, GoW3 and the Killzone games have been icing on the cake. I must say though, I was greatly underwhelmed by MGS4(didn't even finish it) and most of the other exclusives. Eagerly awaiting The Last Guardian. Anyway, with some great games..a capable bluray player and media center..it's quite frankly a no-brainer if you can afford it. Brand loyalty in gaming is really childish--you play the games...not the corporation names.
