and give up the economic philosophy! You are the one trying to get a "free PS3"! Our society also couldn't be run if everyone got free replacements on failed merchandise (especially after warranty!) Wherever you bought it probably had an extended service plan, and if not Sony offers it, funny how we are never interested in those until it happens.

@ worlock > Okay, okay... you objecting to "sheeple" non-sense? Change it to 'people', if it bothers you so much. The point is still the same, really. Who cares what I call people who can't think for themselves and offer a 'reasonable' argument in this matter other than to say, "Your warranty had expired, what do you expect, man?", or like Raging Melody's reasoning:

"It isn't their responsibility, once you purchase something it is then your responsibility even if you were not the reason that it broke. If someone stole your PlayStation 3 you wouldn't blame it on the company would you and ask for a new one now would you?"

or the vast majority of you hard-core gamers offering overwhelming corporate defense as edthetinker pointed out earlier:

"The most disturbing thing about this thread is the overwhelming corporate defense. When did humans stop asking why? I see these same attitudes reflected in the congressmen who came to Bps defense at the recent hearings."

What they say about themselves with statements like that, is far worse than me calling them sheeple, really. I could call them worse, but why? Who cares what I call them, or anyone else for that matter; the ones who feel a personal objection should really ask themselves - Why? You can call me anything you want. If I know it's not true, it can't upset me in the least. Only things that I feel or think have merit can upset me. The reason this is the second time you are reacting to it, for one reason or another, leads me to believe that where there is smoke, there's fire.

The argument that just because the things are the way they are, we should just accept them and be complacent, without demanding the bad to be corrected, or for the injustice to be brought to light, or challenged in any way is an attitude of an inferior, a naive maybe, or even uneducated thinker, but deffinitely not of someone with good reasoning skills, logic and feeling for what is right. Just because things are a certain way- does not mean they ought to be, like so many of you had suggested:

"You had bad luck dude, it happens. It sucks when it does happen, but that's life. Sony aren't marketing an intentionally defective product. They're marketing a complex electronic product. A certain amount of all products are going to fail, that's just how it is. And the more complex something is the higher the chance of something going wrong. That's why a toaster from 30 years ago can still work, there's not much to it. You can ether buy a new PS3 or you can take your money elsewhere. But raging on the internet and writting letters to people who will never see them (and wouldn't care even if they did) isn't going to do you any good."

If one is to follow this logic, there would be no progress in the society. We would still burn witches, live as slaves, engage in off-shore drilling ( :) ) unwilling to stand behind what we believe is right. And you're the one to speak of offering a reasonable argument? Please offer it to me, cause I haven't yet read one coming from you.

My arguments have been consistent, and made public for everyone to see, and argue for or against from the very beginning. For those of you interested enough, you can follow the thread from the beginning. For those of you who cannot follow, oh well...

The only other thing I'd like to add is that I would have to agree that this PS3 issue by itself is really not all that important. There is really nothing intrinsically significant about my PS3 dying. However, the fact that the overwhelming number of you people came to corporate defense reminds me of a Jewish person voting for the Nazi party, or a poor person voting for Bush, - both equally upsetting and truly disturbing. So if your stance is such about an insignificant PS3, I am afraid you will follow the same 'logic' when it comes to far more important things in life.

WOW emotionally delved into this huh? well as a fellow poster her @ gamespot i already posted my thoughts on the matter look about 7-9 posts up and i am sticking with it, because i am sick of people trying to put their mishaps off on others. "My ps3 broke" well tough stuff bud it wasn't designed to break. Like i mentioned before i work in used games and i don't know how many times a week somebody tries to pin a 2-3 year old system failure on me and my store! If you are that emotionally involved with your PS then it shouldn't budge you to replace it! i did the math for you on my previous post. Good day!

I still have most of my classic systems and never had problems with them. What happened to building quality products?

I know there are less internal parts in consoles like the N64 and Dreamcast, but when they are going on 15 years as compared to your measly 2, something is seriously wrong with today's business practice.

The thought of companies releasing consoles that are designed to "die" within 2 years just makes me sick to my stomach.

Best of luck to you

Dude seriously? all of my consoles have lasted for many years (aside from my 3 xb360s), and my day one ps3 is fit as a fiddle. There are many factors to this equation 1. Most people don't take care of their electronics (trust me) *as an employee in the used video game business over 80% of the product i see sold to our company is hideous* (kudos to those who keep clean and take care, much respect) 2. the hardware and processors are much more advanced in the newer systems than in the last gen systems, therefor causing increased failure rates 3. many heating issues arise from due to point 2 above (this can be blamed on the manufacturers) 4. with our world demanding more out of the next big product, this generation has had a lot of problems(mainly failure rates) ---and as for that poll you are going to need much more than a gamespot poll to see your point through when you buy electronics you take risks, Ive had 3 xb360s and 2 wiis due to failure luckily my ps3 is holding up well. so by my personal poll the ps3 is reliable, as long as it is well taken care of I guarantee you i will not be sending a letter to Jack when and if my ps3 dies, if it is that important to your family then buy a new one even if it lasts 2 years 300/2yrs = $2.88 per week w/o tax its affordable so get over it man

ew.... hated valk chronicles... once you realize you can just take a scout and rush the "win square" with them for almost every single mission..... the game just loses all appeal.Roland123_basic
Loved VC awesome game i was praying for a trophy patch to start a new file on but.. eh.. thats what you get for taking a rush approach.. disappointment! sounds to me that you didn't even try to like the game

[QUOTE="Kojo222"]Sony's pricing has been insane since this gen started. 360hammer

What? How do you figure that?

Let me break this down,

Your saying the whole Blue Ray capable console with blue tooth, wifi, HDMI from the get go, non propriatary hard drive and free online was over priced? Compared to the rival HD console which didn't have HDMI, Add on HD - DVD, Insane price for Hard Drive which is not included with all models, no wifi, no bluetooth, fee based online play and an above average fail rate?

On to Controllers,

Your saying a controller with a rechargable battery, motion control and non propriatary charge cable compared to the non motion, no rechargable battery ( sold seperately) and charge cable ( sold seperately or with battery) is over priced?

Think about what your saying before you say it. Kinda like how people swear games are over priced yet have been the same price for over 20 years ( ya I paid $60 for Zelda back in the day) and I can't think of a single thing which is still being sold 20 years later at the same price.

i think what hes referring to is, the price has had a habit of scaring customers away, regardless of how awesome it is most people didn't shell out for the $600-$700 model a few years ago.
