Yeah, I suppose it's just like the movie industry in that way. The production company is always gonna have the power to refuse your creative ideas and that's why many talents go indie. Of course, making an indie game that is actually a larger production (like Killer7 compared to Journey) is more difficult than an indie movie because it's even more expensive.
@SilentAssassin Yeah, I remember talks of a side scrolling Metroid for the original DS but it never happened. Ah well, I'll just play Super Metroid again in the meantime :P
I would have thought people who made such silly videos aren't humorless money grabbers. I think I'd be happy to have anything I make put into a game, especially when it's so harmless.
@eesounds Well not exactly. Most action games that are single player focused (despite some which randomly throw in multiplayer to mixed results) usually clock in around 10 hours such as God of War and Uncharted. Also these sort of games need a shorter length or they end up dragging on and suffering in quality.
I don't understand the people saying "they should have called it different if it's not just an upgrade." Uh, PS3, Xbox360 anyone? Sure there might be miscommunication to the casual audience but that's because they're the casual audience, and you have to advertise your product better. As for getting to the more serious gamers, putting out better games is a start.
