Well the ps3 actually can't work on just any monitor with a DVI imput. The monitor also needs to support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). HDCP is some copy protection/digital rights managment thing for blueray. I guess it's supposed to protect piracy but if your monitor isn't relativley new, ie. less than a year old, I don't think it would have HDCP. I found out the hard way. Bought a hdmi to DVI cable and it wouldn't work on my Samsung 940b monitor. So I ended up getting a new pc monitor, Dell 2007WFP.

I wouldn't really mind if it came to the US but I'd be kind of bummed like most 360 owners when the Elite came out. 20gb doesn't really matter if Sony didn't add anything else to the console. I already got the 60gb one and since I don't store any music, pictures, or video on mine I have plenty of space.

Looking for a wheel myself. If pc wheels will work for the ps3 does that mean that a wheel like the Driving Force Pro designed for the ps2 would then work with my pc? That'd definitely make the deal a lot better.

I saw the ad this morning and knew it had to be a mistake. I would have been psyched it it was true though because I still can't wait until it comes out. Hopefully 6/12 will be the last time they push it back.

The stock cooling works fine. The air that blows out is warm but the fan automatically turns up when needed. I think Sony would have designed the ps3 to work without any other supplemental cooling so it doesn't bother me.

I'm not sure this would work but I'd buy an external hd enclosure when you get your new hard drive. Then you could take the 60/20gb hd that's currently in your ps3, put it into the external case and transfer all the files to your pc. Then transfer the same files to your new hd. After you could use your old hd as a back up drive or something. Again, not sure this would work and I haven't tried it but seems like it should.

I also wouldn't think you'd get that much for your ps2. Maybe a couple hundred but I'd think about saving some of your favorite games because the ps3 is backwards compatible.

Looks ok, might need to reconsider a few things if you plan on building it later in the year. I'd get a different motherboard as others have suggested. I have that same pqi memory and for the price it's fine. It's only single channel but I ended up adding another gb of corsair just recently and would have definitely bought another stick of that pqi for $55 but it was out of stock about a month ago.

Well figuring that Rainbow is being delayed yet again for the ps3 I'll go back to my pc roots. But if I do get the pc version I want to know I'll be able to play the game on medium to high settings or else I'll just wait until the ps3 launch because the game is supposed to look really good.

Current pc set up

Pentium D805 oc to 3.4

2gb ram

7600gt video card

Just reading reviews this game is a system hog and even Gamespot recommends a 3.5ghz processor, and at least a 256mb graphics card. My 7600 has 256mb but I know it's still one of the lowend cards out there. Will I only be able to play lower setting because of this? I usually only use 1024x768 resolution too.

I'm also waiting for Rainbow. Right now I'm thinking about just getting it for my pc instead of waiting another 7 weeks. I don't have a 360 but my comp would probably barely play it on lower settings. Then again, it is only $40 for the pc version and the ps3 one will cost $60. What's up with that? By the time it's finally released for ps3 the game will have been out for almost a year lol. Not quite but I guess I'll keep playing RFOM.
