So I finally just couldn't take it anymore. I was playing call of duty WAW beating absolute A, and it the game crashed and then my computer sat there for what seemed an hour and then just shut off. Things like this happen all of the time in my PC gaming fun. I was the guy that bought all the new games as soon as they game out. I had a decent (though no longer amazing pc) Geforce 8800GT 512MB, AMD 6000+, 4GB RAM, Vista Ultimate, yadda yadda.
I just got so tired of constantly having to find updates and patches, and upgrading my hardware, that I decided to dust off my Xbox 360 and two games I bought for it years ago and give it another go. I gave up first because I hated the controller, mouse and keyboard just seem natural. Heres my conclusions I've come to.
The BAD
1. The graphics annoy me... at times, very badly. Going from 8X anti-aliasing at 60FPS with all maxed in COD WAW to the xbox demo of it I played was a treachery. But I got used to it, and it doesn't bother me quite as badly. I bought a bunch of new games for the 360 and some of them look pretty darn good, like need for speed shift for example. Games like prototype, still bother me graphic wise a bit, but I just have to unspoil myself.
2. I still don't like the controller. For everything other than FPS and RTS, its the bomb. Otherwise, it's simply defying what god intended. I can't pull half the tricks I could on the PC in COD. I feel like I'm being.....casual.
3. The games cost about 10 bucks more, but I don't find it to be so bad. At least I know they will work perfectly when I get home.
4. You have to pay for all the map packs and such. I find that dumb, but I guess I can get used to it too.
....thats about it.
The GOOD
1. It does everything for me. It updates all the games automatically, and everything loads quite snappily with no problamo.
2. The games don't crash on me all the time. Some may have a lot of bugs, but so the PC versions...and they crash.
3. The selection of games is awesome compared to the every now and then games PC seems to be coming out with lately. True, all the games I've bought so far are also on pc, but theres so many more I can get.
4. DEMOS. I really like getting to play the game before I buy it, and PC almost never gets demos anymore.
5. XBLA is great. I do like playing casual games, and theres a poo load to choose from.
6. Everything else.
I've done what I said I would never do as a hardcore PC gamer, and I think it feels great. The games look great on my TV, and everything works perfectly all the time. Not to mention, even though I dont like the controller, its a lot more comfortable to lay back a bit.
I am now a console gamer. I'm already thinking about buying a PS3 slim too.
any1 else made a similar move recently. I'm just feelin pretty good so I had to throw down all my little verdicts I've come to.
Super agree with this guy at least for now. I got a part time job at walmart at the beginning of my senior year at school, making 9.15 an hour for about 25 hours a week. I make enought money to make my $300 rent payment (pretty nice house actually, 2 bed 1 bath remodeled top to bottom). I will admit life gets boring, but I also have no bills either. I dont watch tv, I pay about 80 for my internet, and even after all else is payed I have about 200 or so to spend on junk. Usually games or go out to an overly expensive restraunt. Im just chillin. If your not happy with your situation in life then change it. Go part time and cut the bills that are not neccessary. Don't watch tv.......there is so many fixes, you just have to be willing.
