It's really all about how far you want to go. If you want to chill with all the big guys making all the games we see on tv and that sort of deali-o, they you have to go to college. End of story there. If you're the type that wants to go about his own way, you should think up a bad-A name for your game studio, and either learn Actionscript and make flash games, learn C+ and start making casual games for distribution with websites like Reflexive Arcade and the sort. Or if you are completely just starting out and just want to get a feel for designing and making games, I cannot recommend the program Game Maker any more. I started out with it, and you can just as good as any 2D games without any programming at all. Its a good place to start, and really gives ya a feel for things.

Programs you should look into,

Game Maker 8
Flash CS4
Garagegames.com
Dark Basic
XNA Game Studio (Free..and has really good documentation if you want to learn programming).

With ya on this one big time. I was thinkin' about this just the other day. At any rate I'm pretty sure if they eventually do move on to motion sensing as the main type of controlling of games, the xbox and playstation systems will at least always have the option to use a controller. So I'm not all to worried.

I started when I was about 6 years old with a sega genesis. I remember how crazy I felt when I was controlling the little blue hedgehog dude on the screen. I've been hitting up ebay lately buying back all the old games and systems I had through my childhood, and let me say this....I think gaming was better in the old days. Sure I can get on Call of Duty and have fun for months on end with multiplayer, and it's cool that all my friends can join up with me and we all rock it together. Though, games were a lot simpler back then, not to mention their dirt cheap now.

I just played it today, and I have to say I was really surprised how good it was. I haven't played as predator yet, but alien and survivor were a lot of fun. To be honest I just really needed a change up from call of duty, and this game was a pretty good one. Strangely enough the only review on metacritic so far is Game Informer and they seemed to give it a pretty mediocre score. What did you all think of it?

Mine would be Devil May Cry 3 probably. I believe it was the game that started all the mindless crazy action games we are getting today.

hold onto em for longer. Atari is still not worth a whole lot, but give it another 5 years and I think it will go through a good phase. I knew a guy that for a while was selling games like those for like 15 to 20 bucks a peice on ebay, its just going through a crapper phase right now.

Actually I'm seeing complete NES systems going for about 60 to 90 bucks on ebay without any games included. I would hold onto for a while, it's value is only going to go up from here.
