The Elephant that fell in Love with the Pink Mouse

Hello all! I'm back, and not MIA. The blog title means nothing, just something I made up.

Anyway, I have been away for the last few days, I had some business to attend to out of town, not pleasant at all. I will also be rather quiet this week, I got heaps of paperwork to do as a result of my business trip. *sigh* I will try and eventually catch up on all your blogs.

I will update you all in a few days time. Until then, have a nice week, and do take care. :)

Aussie Pride and I'm Dying from the Heat!

IT'S SOOOO HOT! Can someone please send Australia some rain or snow, or cold weather? We would really appreciate it, we can't even go to the beach because the sand is too hot! :(

Anyway, today's Australia Day. Happy Australia Day to all my fellow Australia, tv.com users! Fiance and I just hosted a BBQ lunch with a couple of friends over. They've gone now. Fiance has gone to take my dog for a walk ("In this heat?") you may ask? Yes. Why? I have no idea, but they'll both exhausted when they get back. Tonight we're going to the coast to watch the fireworks, and hopefully by then it'll be a little cooler.

So I was thinking. What makes Australia so great? Here's a little picture story for you:

"What Makes Australia Great?"
By Amy.

Is it our wonderful beaches?

Is it our unique placing on the Earth?

Is it our adorable animals and their habitat?

Is it our Aussie Spirit?

Or our famous landscapes?

Or our sense of humour?

Whatever it is, it sure has turned our country into a peaceful and wonderful place to live, and has made all Aussies proud. Aww.

The End.

My Awards: Season 12 of ER

I'm still here. Sorry for not blogging much lately, nothing really to blog about. But I finally found an excuse. Presenting... Amy's Awards for Seasons 12 of ER. I felt now the season has past, I should recognize some of those memorable and not so memorable moments. Here we are:

Best Episode (apart from 21 Guns): Two Ships

Episode Summary: For Neela, what begins as a routine ride-along with Gates and Zadro turns into a defining day when a commercial jet and a private plane crash over Chicago.

We saw some brilliant acting from Parminder Nagra in this episode, and also some great guest stars. John Stamos (wish it had stayed that way!) and Serena Williams were amazing. And I'm wondering how much this episode cost to produce. $$$

Best Guest Star: Kristen Johnston

Kristen was hilarious as Nurse Manager Eve Peyton. Pity she had to get fired.

Most Annoying Character: Zoe

Get out! How on Earth does this girl think that she and Ray could have a decent relationship when she's underage? Because of her Ray got his face bashed in by her father! Grr...

Best Effects: Two Ships

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Get Together Already! Award: Ray and Neela

Best Singers: Haleh and Morris

They sang "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", and it was that good, fans wanted a audio recording, but there isn't any...

Most Dramatic Moment: Steve and "Alliance's" ER Shooting Spree

Most Shocking Moment: Abby's Pregnant!

Abby: Okay, I don't know how to say this.
Luka: What?
Abby: These past few weeks have been really great.......I....I couldn't have imagined it to be better.
Luka: For me, too.
Abby: It's just that.....
Luka: What?
Abby: Uhhh...man...
Luka: What?
Abby: I'm pregnant.

Saddest Moment: Gallant Dies

Neela's husband, Gallant died in Iraq, and the soldiers told her in the ER (why?) and it had me reaching for the tissues.

Most Horrifying: Pregnant Abby Collapses

And this was the Season Finale cliffhanger! Luka was tied to a gurney and couldn't do anything, and everyone else was trying to save Jerry.

Most Heroic: Neela in Two Ships

She saved a little boy's life by running into a burning building, and performed some sort of surgical procedure on Gates so he would survive, which he did (unfortunately).

Thank God It's Over! and Worst Episode: Luka and Sam

In Canon City they finally broke up, and about time!

I'm very opinionated. Until next time...

For Your Visual Pleasure...

Today's a bit out of the ordinary blog. For no reason here's some gorgeous pics for your enjoyment...

And they called it, Puppy Love:

I'm a Proud member of the Australian:

Love your pet, they're your friends for life.

I love this song, it's a favourite of my grandma's.

Doris Day:
Que Sera, Que Sera

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows, day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome, will I be rich
I tell them tenderly.

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

and finally...

I'm sorry if I haven't been a regular commenting on your blogs lately, I've been super busy with work. I will try to catch up on each and everyone of your blogs this week.

Have a nice day.

5 Most Inspirational Women of 2006

Cherokeelady42's blog got me thinking. She was talking about not keeping a woman down. Which led me to think about which women are the most strongest and inspirational of 2006. There were many women who come to mind, so here are my top 5.

Terri suffered a tragic loss of her husband, Steve in 2006. We were all, as fans devastated as well, but for Terri, being Steve's loyal wife and mother of his 2 children, it must have been a rip in her heart. But last night, while watching her interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, I saw how strong she was, and I really admired her for that. Since his death, she hasn't been feeling sorry for herself, but instead has decided to fulfil Steve's dreams and continue doing what he did. Terri has now been named the Tourism Ambassador for Australia, which is great! Makes me proud to be an Aussie! Bravo Terri!

Is there anything this woman can't do? In 2005, Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer and in 2006 she returned to the stage for her fans as she promised and gave a spectacular performance! In fact, it was one of her best performances ever, and I was so privledged to attend one of her Perth concerts. I loved it! She has also released her own perfume called "Darling" and is also drawing awareness to breast cancer.

This is a controversial choice, but I really admire Angelina for all her work in disadvantaged countries. She took in two children who would've lived a life in poverty and gave them a loving home, and all the comforts in the world, and plans on adopting more! I applaud her!

Well, maybe not in 2006, but in general, Fergie is a very inspirational woman. She has come along way since her divorce to Prince Andrew. Doing endless amounts of charity work, writing children books and being there for her children. Her daughter's have commented on how strong and wonderful they think they're mother is. Fergie was labelled "The Duchess of Pork" when she piled on weight, but she fought back, joined Weight Watchers, and is now there spokesperson. You go girl!

Nicole really gives meaning to the saying "Stand by your man". She married Keith Urban this year, the newlyweds were ever so happy, but then came the shocking news that Keith, who was a recovering alcoholic, had a relapse. Nicole supported him as he went into rehab and paid him frequent visits, and now Keith is a sober man again, and he probably couldn't of done it without his darling wife!

Now these women define the meaning of "Girl Power!"

In other news, our state is going through a HUGE heatwave! It's so hot! :( I say this with sweat running down my face. Last week we had temperatures in the low 20's, not it's up in the late 30's. Today we were expected to get 40 degrees celcius, and boy do we feel it! I would give anything to have some rain right now!

I decided to go with the tv.com trend and got my own icon. Thanks to SquishyHippo for resizing it properly for me!

And also, whats up with the levels? I haven't moved at all and I gained 3 new editorships this week!

Oh well, I'm too hot to continue. Take care everyone! :)

Just Little Old Me!

Well, as you know, this week I made the transition into the world of employment. I started Friday, and actually it's quite exhausting! I get called all over the city to console, and then get a whole heap of paperwork to describe the case and the solution. Feels like I'm back at school. Luckily, I was good at school and the paperwork didn't take long at all. And, I have met some fantastic people. My co-workers are brilliant. They were very welcoming and friendly. Oh I'll just come out and say it: I love my job!

But today was a bit of a not so lovey day. My most shocking and upsetting case yet. I can't go into details because that would be a violation of my contract and out of respect for the person, and also most of you wouldn't want to know its that bad. I did my best, and I believe I did make a small difference, not a lot happens overnight! But my boss told me that I should get used to these type of cases, because I'll see many like them. Anyway, enough of me going on about something I can't even tell you...

TV.COM News:

*Thanks to Mary (Angelsxo) for making my new Luby banner! It's gorgeous!

*I got a new editorship: Lisa Chappell

* And I think the level system is mucked up again, because I've made countless amounts of submissions over the past week and my level has gone up 4%. Hmm...

* Please do sign the banner for BB. She has just woken up from a coma after a couple of weeks, and it's truly remarkable. To sign, click here.

Have a great day everyone! :)

Come Fly with me, lets Fly Away!

Some of you may or may not know about the "cover up" Qantas had the other day. For those who don't know, here:

Cover-up over hole in Qantas jet denied

QANTAS boss Geoff Dixon has denied a cover-up by the airline after a report that a packed passenger jet flew with a huge hole torn in its side.

A Seven Network report claimed Qantas had ignored the incident, covered it up, and misled air-safety authorities.

QF5, with 408 people on board travelling from Singapore to Frankfurt, was damaged by a blown tyre just after take-off on March 8 last year.

“Any suggestion that Qantas’s handling of the incident ... was covered up in any way is completely wrong,” Mr Dixon said last night.

“There was no indication at the time of take-off that a tyre had shredded.”

There was no damage to the plane that affected its air worthiness or safety.

“There was no risk to passengers or crew at any time,” he said.

“The incident was reported to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau and Civil Aviation Safety Authority.”

Qantas had carried out its own investigation and provided its results to the safety regulators.

“All decided that the incident did not warrant further investigation,” Mr Dixon said

Seven reported that tyre debris tore a hole 3m long in the jet’s fuselage, and “no official investigation was launched”.

A Perth businessman Karl Dunbar said that he could have crawled through the hole, which was the size of two refrigerators, he saw in the jet at Frankfurt.

Quite shocking I might add. Especially from Singapore Airport. I've been to Singapore airport numerous times and it has been known as one of the safest airports in the world, and for them to miss something like that is well... strange. What a tragedy that would've been if something had gone extremely wrong and the plane crashed.

While I'm on the topic, here is an extroadinary pic I found:

I would hate to live in those houses.

I'm a frequent flyer, and I thought I would give you some wisdom before you choose your next holiday and airline:

False advertising. We flew Thai Airways once. My poor friend got air sick and when we handed the flight attendent "the bag", she just grabbed it and walked off, and was ever so rude for the rest of the flight.

Now this ISN'T false advertising. Emirates is an absolutely fantastic airline, and I highly recommend it. Along with Singapore Airlines.

Must get to work soon. So long! :)

My Last Blog...

...as an unemployed woman. Tomorrow I start my work as a Social Worker. I can't wait, but I'm also a little nervous.

Now I'll be earning better money, fiance and I are going to save to go on a nice, long holiday before the wedding, perhaps around Easter or May. Theres something to look forward to.

So now that I'm employed, I fear I may not be around the forums much anymore. New Years resolution: not to let that happen! Hopefully after work I will be able to make it! :) I've bought me a laptop which I will take to work, so maybe in my lunch break I may pop in as well.

Take care and have a great day, whatever your doing!

Calm Before the Storm...

Sorry I wasn't here yesterday, my mother forced me to go to hospital because she thought I was very pale and was going to faint by the way I was working. When I got to the ER the doctor told me that I was dehydrated and was therefore placed on a "drip". A few hours later I was advised to drink a lot of water, more than usual and was sent home. That kept mother happy. So here I am drinking a bottle of water while filling you in on the events that occured yesterday, with the water making me want to go to the toilet every 5 minutes.

Anyway, the weatherman has said that all of WA will be hit with a big storm this afternoon. So far nothing, just a lot of grey clouds and not a person in sight on the streets. Calm before the storm I say. I guess Cyclone Isabelle up north is starting to take it's toll on the state's weather. We are expected to get winds up to 100km/hr. I will keep you updated on the storm...

The Year of the '07

Well my friends, this is my first blog of 2007. It feels rather strange when you look back, a couple of days ago it was 2006 and now it's a completely new year. Anyway...

When I last wrote my blog, which was... last year, I was heading off to my brother's new years eve party. It was great! Well kind of.

As I said earlier there was about 10-15 people there. I arrived at 8pm with fiance and we had a BBQ with music (Beegees to Rolling Stones and even Elvis!) in the background. When New Year came, the champagne was brought out, but that hardly did my brother anything, he was already drunk from whiskey! Anyway, we watched the local fireworks from the backyard and had sparklers and party poppers and thats when the real party started. My brother insisted he go skinny dipping in the pool but luckily his girlfriend hid the key to the pool gate before he could.

Of course, the party wasn't complete, because of the absence of my sister Libby, who was still in hospital after giving birth. And luckily, my parents were not at the party to see my brother get hammered.

There was dancing and a lot of talking until about 3am until we went back inside. My bro' finally passed out, right on the couch, and we just left him there until when we woke up in the morning. Needless to say, he had one hell of a hangover.

I didn't get too drunk. I had a glass of champagne and a whiskey, I got slightly tipsy. Did nothing I regretted, thankfully I said no to playing shots as then I would've had the worst hangover in the history of alcohol. Quite the party as you can imagine! :D

2006 was a great year for me. Especially May, the month when I joined tv.com. Since then I have made some wonderful friends here. Simren, Linsey, Rochelle, Suz, Melinda, Marie, Taylor, Cherokee, Tee, Mary and Alex, and everyone else who is on my friends list, you guys are great! Thanks for a wonderful year!

So what does the new year hold for me? Well to start, I'm getting married, starting my new job as a social worker, and becoming an auntie all over again! A very busy year for me!

Happy New Year everyone! Make 2007 a good one!
