A few days ago, a school in Western Australia was rocked by a shocking event. A high school boy got up in the middle of class and stabbed two of his fellow students. Apparently, he had an on-going feud with them. This is completely shocking. My mother is a nurse, and she was working on the same ward as one of the victims was on, and he needed surgery, and his bowel system was nearly destroyed as a result of the stabbing. The other victim may lose movement of his fingers (he was stabbed in the arm).
All this fiasco, leads me to think: just how safe are our schools? It's absolutely terrifying. The Government is proposing security checks at schools, which I think is a great idea. It's about time.
I know that not every school will be completely secure, theres always the risk of drugs or bullying, which cannot be prevented easily. I know from experience schools arn't perfect. When I was in high school, people were constantly getting into fights or taking drugs. Some couldn't say no, but I managed to, so why can't others? I know I'm kind of going off topic there, but I'm raising a very strong point.
What do you all think of this issue?
