@mogan: It could be a sign of problems, or it could not be, and that's really the problem. It's kind of impossible to tell why exactly a dev or publisher chooses not to do early reviews. For every Assassin's Creed: Unity (where I'm pretty sure the reviews didn't even hit til around midday after its release), you get a Doom 2016, where nothing much is wrong with the game at all, they just chose not to let people talk about it early. Here's hoping S2 is more on the D16 side of history.
@naomha1: EXACTLY!! A new Shadow game would be incredible at this point. This is coming from someone who thinks they have the worst stories (maybe ever) for franchise tie-in games, but good lord are they so much fun to play!
Dope. I figured we'd see a spread of 6s to 10s. I figured the combat (specifically how busy it looks) would be divisive, so I'm glad I've yet to see anyone say the story is a disaster.
I didn’t say that people who don’t like “woke content” are racists, sexists, etc. I said that racist, sexist idiots call games “woke” explicitly because they feature characters of color, women, etc.
A bad game is bad no matter what its politics are. If it isn’t good, it isn’t good. A good game is not made bad because it is woke, and a bad game is not made good because it isn’t woke.

"To believe that going woke doesn’t affect sales is incredibly naive." A small, vocal minority of losers who hate "wokeness" does not dictate the success of a $150mil+ AAA title. Sure, if they all bought a copy, that'd be good for sales, but considering what the anti-woke crowd's demands have to deteriorated to in just a few months, going from "we just care about historical accuracy" to "a new game is woke if any character is black or a woman", there is zero business sense in catering to their wishes, if you want to reach a larger number of customers.
Sounds to me like Ubisoft's years of being very anti-consumer with their approach to publishing is finally catching up to them.
Carving small chunks out of games to sell as microtransactions, going into titles with 30/40 bucks worth of DLCs planned out, requiring always online connections (before patching them out), trying to turn their single-player games into GaaS, oversaturating their own market by not innovating.
Maybe Shadows can be the beginning of a turnaround for them. Maybe not.
Also, you're beyond parody if you think these financial woes, for a company as huge as Ubi, have anything to do with "wokeness" or "DEI". Go outside and touch some grass.
