Why not wait till the Panasonic 1080p Plasma's are affordable? The 50" is already $2800 at fotoconnection.com, it will be under $2000 in no time

And to hell with the Oppo, get a Toshiba HDXA2 HD-DVD player, it's the best HD DVD player, and wayy better at upscaling DVD's then an Oppo

[QUOTE="cakeorrdeath"]I think maybe the fact three different 360s exist should be taken into consideration.NYCgamer47

The core system is in 130th ranking. So after considering that, this puts X360 in an even WORSE position.

At Amazon Elite has sold more systems in 5 days, then PS3's have been sold in the last 30 days

Really? They don't just jumble the different variants together? That's news to me...I wonder how the Elite is doing...

Wonder no longer.  The Elite is #5 on Amazon over the last 30 days,  and it's only been out 5 days.

Xbox Elite # 5 (in just 5 days)

PS3 # 16

Xbox 360 Premium # 30

[QUOTE="-supercharged-"]I still think M$ should release a Blu-Ray drive for the 360. Bgrngod

If MS did release a blu-ray add-on, it would only function with the Elite since HDMI is part of the Blu-Ray requirement.

No it's not. You just can't watch in 1080p.

You can't watch in anything but 480i/p without HDMI.

...and the point of selling a Blu-Ray player that only displays in 480i/p would be??

You don't know what your talking about.

HD DVD and BD movies only get downscaled if they have Image Contraint Tokens (ICT's)

Currently,  no HD DVD or BD movie has an ICT tag.

It is said movie studios won't start adding ICT tags until 2011-2012.

So currently,  you can watch 1080p via component,  so long as your HDTV accepts 1080p over component.  And many new HDTV's do accept 1080p over component

I think theres only one thing that will make Blu-Ray really stand out from the compatition. Its the 50gig discs... if they had the 50 gig discs maybe they could increase there PQ by raising  the MPS and add more content matrial, Say like a PS3 game.

Example: Harry potter the movie plus the game all in one disc.

i think that would really stur up some attention

This hole thing with sony not getting there act together with there Blu-Ray disc has really allowed the compatition a solid foot in the door.

25 gigs dedicated to the movie 25 gig to the game. They could even Try going  15 for the game and 35 for the movie. I donrt really know if thats possable, they might have to split it down the middle, i dont know, but it gives you the idea im heading towards.

Also for everyone thinking Blu-Ray is done!! There isent going to be a format winner... or a loser(Maybe in a sales perspective) its going to stalemate. So get rid of this idea that Blu-Ray is done. I was peranoid for a little bit there to, but not anymore. The compatition is capt at 30 gigs. Blu-Ray will go as far as 200 Gigs in the next couple years.

Vanine_28

The competition is capped at 30GB?

I bet you anything you want that HD-DVD movies will be on a 45GB-51GB HD-DVD before BD movies are on a BD disk that exceeds 50GB.

Wow...$72? HD-DVD must be doing absolutely terrible to have that kinda sale on it...AvIdGaMeR444

Did you expect the HD-DVD drive to stay at $200 forever??  While the Toshiba HDA2 goes from $699 MSRP, to $299

While the  Toshiba HDXA2 goes from $1000 to $550

While the Samsung BDP1000 Bluray player goes from MSRP of $1000 to a street price of $450

Did you expect it to stay at $199 when $199 Standalone players wil be at Walmart Fall/Winter?
