No. The settings on the PS3 require HDMI 1.3. I don't believe the X360 is even compliant with 1.3, and couldn't even have the same settings. I could be wrong though...

The options are Full RGB and HDMI Super White. They're only available through HDMI. If you hook up a TV through HDMI, I'm fairly certain the PS3 will detect if you have a TV compatible with those standards and change the settings (only newer TVs do). The problem, though, is that they're using component cables! Do they us component cables for 1080p games too, forcing it to a lower resolution?

They should be playing each system at the highest possible settings. They should use hardware (TVs, video capture) that are compatable with the highest quality available form each system. To do otherwise is lazy, sloppy, and cheap. Poor journalism, to say the least.

You shouldn't compare internet service as a whole to playing games online. The point is that it doesn't make any sense to pay an extra $50 just to connect to other gamers on top of paying our providers for internet access.

I know that MS and our providers are separate entities, but it's still hard to justify paying just to play..

I wasn't comparing it to internet service. I was comparing it to basic cable television. I imagine a lot of people spend a lot more time on Live than they do watching TV, which for basic cable TV service cost 12X more/year. Live is the least of the rip-offs out there.

The TC asks about better games, not sales. In 2007 the PS3 had 29 AA/AAA games. The X360 had 30. Yay, lemmings goy 1 more.

Games do matter, but the other capabilities of the PS3 are why I chose it. Blu-Ray, networked media, Linux... These matter to me just as much as the gaming.

Besides, when it does come to gaming, I've got plenty on the PS3 to keep me busy (just beat R&C on challenge mode).
