@punksterdaddy @macca366 Thats weird, I haven't had anything like that happen to me, and the last time I logged in was yesterday. Wouldn't be happy if I was forced into it
@kabalzer0 @macca366 All good points! Beyond Good & Evil is possibly my favourite game I've played by the way. Potentially against my own points, tears could come to my eyes the day the sequel is confirmed to come out.
Psychonauts and BG&E were third party games though. I believe Nintendo as a first-party developer has the fan base and marketing power to support its own new IPs. Also, I didn't get Bayonetta purely because I'd had the same kind of experiences before in Devil May Cry. Though it looked more appealing to me BECAUSE it was somewhat fresh due to its new IP status. The Devil May Cry reboot or even a DMC5 didn't/wouldn't appeal to me at all because I've already been there.
Mirrors Edge was okay, I bought it actually, and liked it, though I believe it wasn't worth the full purchase price. I don't think a whole game around the idea was really too viable, which shows in how short its length is. I'd have confidence in Nintendo's execution of any game regardless of IP. The quality and fun in their games is always of a high standard, but somehow it gets old re-experiencing the same place over and over (at least to people that have grown up with it, I'm sure to young kids its still an exciting and fresh discovery).
I think the difference between you and I is that you are arguing for financial success and security, whilst I'm interested in creativity and progress. I would prefer the risk over stagnancy. As I said in my first post, I would rather have had the creation of metroid than a new mario!
What if the metroid-style map and power-up game style they thought of was applied to Mario instead? And we'd never have the isolating Alien inspired Samus universe with space pirates, ridley, chozo... Would it have been an okay game if it was just set in the mushroom kingdom, with goombas and bowser? Sure, but certainly not as fresh or great.
How about about creating a new universe and characters AROUND new gameplay ideas and mechanics? Instead of deciding which old character would this best suit. Double up on your creativity! Fans will appreciate it!
New IP's aside ...I would like a new Starfox. Actually thats another example. Starfox Adventures which was pretty sucky, was originally an original IP called Dinosaur Planet. Then they decided to give it a Starfox skin. Ugh.
Some users need to read harder before jumping to conclusions. Yes the rumours from certain sources have been suggesting Microsoft is doing stupid things with the next xbox, but that shouldn't dictate an intuitive negativity towards anything they do before you even understand what is being said.
I think its good that they're giving users an additional security measure to protect their accounts and private information, and its not mandatory, its optional. In light of the unexpected hacking of Playstation Online a while ago, I think its a practical and responsible move to give the option to consumers.
I had no problems with the DMR, its obviously the gold standard. But that just means you've got to be good or clever in using other weapons to their own advantages to get an edge. I'm not sure what the point of different weapons is if they're all just evened out to essentially be the same...
@psx_warrior @macca366 I think his frivulous offence comes because it is a baptism into Columbia's religion, not his own.
Still, in the words of Stephen Fry:
'It's now very common to hear people say, "I'm rather offended by that", as if that gives them certain rights. It's no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. "I'm offended by that." Well, so fucking what?'
