Last and Only time I disrespected a parent; "Hey Mom-you're full of s**t" Enter dad, WHAM!!! I am across the room on butt. I said owchies, never again.
I have been a father for 18 years now. I have 3 kids. With the first one, I tried to be a tree-hugging Dr. Spock, no-hitter patsy parent. Never Again. That kid has nearly gotten tossed into jail for my'no hit' efforts. The next 2 are doing much better. "yes ma'am, and No sir" We made sure they knew mom and dad had 'the power in this home, (and not the kids)We rule fairly, and these 2 kids only needed one good smacking a piece (so far) to get that undisputable fact in their heads. They now 'fear' rules enough to think twice against breaking them.
My only regret with being a disciplinarian dad-making the mistake of spanking my own child in public, where there's always some Dr. Spock, no-hitter patsy who'll call the cops about something they don't even have a whole story on. They called the police because i paddled my 5 year old for running into a 4 lane street-contrary to our constantly taught rule against that. Immediate Discipline before the kid forgets what he did wrong. But I will do it again publically if needed. Not the government's business to tell us how to parent our children, even thoughsome here want it to beso. Not the business of some third-party passerby, either. "Innocent until proven guilty". Law is enforced by discipline. Discipline is first taught by parents.
