There's no such things as "miricles" in computer hardware. If you think that 12 fps at 640x480 is smooth, then good for you.
You don't need the Asus drivers (that are surely pre 8.7) after installing 8.7. Uninstall the Asus drivers and 8.7, reboot and reinstall 8.7.
ok so do i use both PCI e cables from the PS on the card or just 1 and do i use all 8 pins or just 6?EmmaBug03Yes use both pci-e cables from the psu, and 6 pin as the HD4870 doesn't use 8 pin IIRC.
Don't use the Y cables, use the 2 pci-e cables coming from your psu. The Y cables are adapters for psu's that don't have enough pci-e connectors.
Create a few profiles and activate one depending on the situation (gaming or not) and ambient temperature. When i play games, i set the fan at 50-60% speed, and 35-40% for idle mode.
You'll have to use the fan fix. But i'm glad 8.7 fixed the pixellated lights and shadows in Mass Effect, and also added AA support for that game.
I just hope they release some official drivers soon. =/ aeatyesThey already did with 8.7, very stable so far on the games I tried.
Maybe I should get a ATI motherboard and get a 4870?ancient_diamondAn Intel P45 motherboard would be perfect for an HD4850 or HD4870, and it's more reliable than any nForce mobo out there.
